This is also because the Sahabas, the early Caliphs were martyred early on....but the way Umar RA conquered Jerusalem was pretty special when you look at everything that's ever taken place there before and after. As for dropping nukes on japan - that ended up SAVING more lives than it cost.
An invasion of Japan would have cost close to a million lives - both japanese and american.
