two handed you will kill bosses alot easier, but is you get good a destruction and a shouts you will have alot more fun :) i beat the game.

And you SHOULD read books, since it trains your conjuration I think (I forgot the name). Just read whatever book you can find, you only have to look at the first page, then click it away.

@jaycarmine not only conjuration, but any skill, so whenever you see a book you should take it, then throw it or keep it if you want to read it later for the historic stuff.

Also, to answer your question, I think you should use both one-handed weapons and 2-handed. It isn't like Runescape, you can train everything without having a lower damage ratio. One-handed attacks aren't going to lower your destruction, for example. But I prefer to use an elven mace together with lightening bolt.
