  • @hostiledgk Steering Stabilizers or "dampers" as you call them to not prevent death wobble and do not help it, they will only mask the true cause of it until it quickly wears out the stabilizer and comes right back, if everything is correctly set up on your front end you should be able to run without a stabilizer and not experience "death wobble"

  • @stevencloak correct. I also have a TJ that has more miles on it and is running 33's with no problem. It's all about preventative maintenance with these front ends. bushings are the main culprits when it comes to "death wobble". as you said, steering stabilizers will seem like they help, but only until they wear just enough to let the real problems shine through

  • the tire in focus has busted bands inside if not than replace front axle u joint and wheel bearing hub(s) ive been through it alot as i trail the mountain everyday on my way to work

  • @JCBuddy30 busted bands? those tires were less than a month old when I took this video. Probably 1000 miles at the most on them

  • i think i seen one part of the tie rod move and not the other... let us know what you find.. i seen a vid of a bronco on here that had the death wobble you might try to find it see if they found anything

  • @walyll0 The main issue was the plate that bolts to the (sub)frame that the track bar mounts too. despite how tight I could tighten the bolts it stayed loose and I ended up welding it. The wobble has about 90% gone away. It never randomly occurs anymore but good size bumps give the steering an aggravated feeling. No where near as bad. If I had the time/funds/patience, I'd get a bushing kit for the front end to tighten the whole thing up, but this just about fixed it. Take a look at that plate

  • @walyll0 I had to have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while I was under there in order to find it. If I can find a video of the loose plate, I'll post it

  • IT'S THE STEERING DAMPER

  • @hostiledgk nope. bushings, and a cracked upper track bar mount. the stabilizer helped when i replaced it but it doesn't go away completely. the wobble is the result of more than 1 worn out part.

  • try this:

    jeepforum com & search "diagnosing-death-wobble"

  • scary shit

  • steering stabilizer???

  • @smallz1975 already installed a hd rough country stabilizer, helped but it eventually came back

  • check you steering box where its mounted, sheet metal is probly cracked, had the same problem

  • We did a toe in and that helped alot. Now once we get the trackbar I think we will be good.

  • Trackbar? My buddies jeep needs one!

  • on my 96 xj with 35's it was the steering stabilizer shock and bad tire rod end

  • if you have an ajustable track bar try to readust it, i know adjustable track bars are expensive but they are worth it, i dont know about you but when i build up jeeps i dont do thing s the cheap way, i've seen cheap brackets fail, i would recoment either a teraflex or jks adjustable track bar

  • check all bolts on control arms and if you have lifted it more then 2 inches i would get a drop pitman arm and upgrade your steering stabilizer, if your tires are worn out i would get some new ones, i would, more then likely its a combination of things, i had this happen once on jeep, i put a four in lift on my 04 jeep wranger, check your drag link if its not set right it can give ya hell,

  • some toe-in should fix it.

  • track bar

  • bearing

  • @timcass33tc already replaced it when I did the other side 3 months ago. Didn't help

  • replace your track bar!

  • Is that from the u joint?? I have a 98 wrangler sport 4.0 and it has a 6 inch lift and it been wobbling and we punt out the u joint is bad in it I was jw if that's hy it's wobbling once I get past 60 mph

  • @yesiam63 replacing the u-joint did help, but it still does it every now and then. something else is the main cause, I'm guessing bushings

  • @homerunhita12 Did you ever get it figured out?

  • More than likely pitman arm, or track bar

  • Pull a lower control arm off and check the bushings, especially if they are the stock arms. Only do the track bar if you are going to upgrade to the one Kevin's Offroad makes. Theirs has a stronger frame mount that doesn't flex like the stock one does.

  • Did it only do that at a certain speed or all the time

  • thank god most sold there toyotas for these uh?

  • I concur with akdster, I just replaced track bar on my Grd Ckee Laredo, should solve wobble issue

  • My father had kinda the same issue. Ended up being a track bar issue. He also likes to run like 45psi in his tires lmao.

  • Ball joints and tie rod are okay... No idea what may be causing this... Would alignment cause this?

  • @homerunhita12 try track bar, and possibly your steering stabilizer.

  • @homerunhita12 YES AND UNEVEN TREAD WEAR. MUST BE TAKEN IN FOR ALL 4 wheel alighnment..

I am in the middle of repairing my JK. just got new tires all around and it is going in for computer alignment.

  • @2012goingNutz four wheel alignment is a waste of money. Rear wheel alignment is unnecessary/a gimmick. New control arm bushings did the trick. I do need a track bar or bushing at the least, other than a little play in the steering, CA bushings solved it... for now. track bar and/or bushings is my next project.

  • check ur tie rods and lower ball joints, also the upper tie rod
