@1337MrSam link it and welcome tips from everyone. i've found the trick for most people is to focus on maintaining a well developed mass transit system after about 60k people. forget about parks and such at that point. once the mass transit is there, the population kinda explodes and the desirability can then be increased afterwards (much more safely) with a higher tax revenue.

This game was stupid in my opnion. It is too americanized, because it's almost impossible to build a europe-inspired city. I liked Simcity 3000 Unlimited Edition, way better, because in that game you could feel free to build whatever you wanted - and even make a realistic european or american city.

I never liked this game that much. I mean, making the regions is alright, but building the cities suck balls for me. Each time I have a beautiful slopy hillside and try to plant anything like parks it messes up the entire hill. Same for valleys.

@NeoTomoyakun I agree - that's one of the things that I really missed with SC4; the nice, gentle slopings and bulging hillsides where residentials are placed naturally into the topography, as in reality. Although, this is too much to ask for the game engine at the time, but I hope the future SimCity games they will be able to make the placement of buldings and constructs fit more naturall into the landscape. Architecture and nature, city and landscape - beautifully fused as One...

For some reason the graphics rendering fails and the game's graphics engine crashes after like 10 minutes of playing. I didn't have this problem with Vista or XP.

Right now I'm running on Win7 32 bit

I tried running it in compatibility mode for XP SP3 and 2, but that didn't work.

I'm running as admin but it didn't work either.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I honestly have a city over 1,000,000 population but this city is so much better! The layout of the whole region is amazing, compared to mine that is just one city and commercial and industrial cities around it. My highway system sucks and my subways are all over the city too much in some parts not enough in others but this city is truely amazing..the whole layout of it is something i wish my city had. I didnt use cheats too ive just been playing since like the 90s sim games so im pro :)

I had the same problem. Game crashes from time to time. Try this trick:

1. Start game

2. Minimaize it

3. Run task manager

4. Go to "processes" tab

5. Find SimCity 4 process (or something like that)

6. Change its priority to highest (I choose "Realtime")

Problem seems to occure on processors with more cores. Sory for my english and good luck :)

You can make you region bigger, if you modify the region image from the Region files. Just select the region what you want, and simpli modify the size of the image in Bit levels (2x2, 4x4, 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128...). The problem is, if you do not careful, maybe you delete your current cities, so...it's more recommendable to do this before you build any city.

How do you encourage so many commercial sky-scapers (no cheats thouhg)? I always just get lots of residential sky scrapers, but commercial always lags like only a few and they're not very big ones either. Bunch of commercial high rises.

I've used bus stations and subways. And the entire city area is pretty much used up. Not much polution at all. Help?
