Omar, that ''idiot'' was Hank Worden. You will find him in most of the Ford movies as he was a member of the Ford Stock Troupe. He didn't always play the mentally challenged
@ShawDAMAN The men of Rorke's Drift held off 20:1 odds for two days and prevailed. It happens when desperately outnumbered men have the determination and just enough advantage to overcome.
@mtlyb I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is far more common in movies than reality would suggest. Especially in this particular situation, the natives attack just seems far more clumsy and ineffectual than you would expect given the flat terrain and the superiority in numbers. even if the 6 'white men' had managed to pick off half of them by the time they got across the river there would have been enough to overwhelm them in melee. haha. I will chk out rorkes drift, sounds interesting.
@ShawDAMAN Just found out there is an excellent article on that battle and the after effects on the survivors (victors?). "Against All Odds" Published by Ian Allen Publishing LTD Copyright 2010. UK publisher. Talks about the battle and the aftermath.

This movie makes it look as if the Comanche did not roll back the white settlements several hundred miles for decades.
