@rylege sorry i didn't mean to offend, this is actually one of my fave movies. i just thought on day 2 when the confederates were trying to take LRT the reenactment was a little...i dunno...a little silly. the movie did a good job portraying both sides without bias which i really respect but on the 2nd day they made chamberlain and maine into demigods and showed the confederates as amusingly poor/cowardly/incompetent. i dunno, just how i feel...
Well done - thanks for the post - great intro! The Union was very fortunate that two its best fighting officers Buford and John Reynolds were the first to engage Lee's Army. Also, the failure of Jeb Stuart to do his job and report on the positioning of the Union Army to Lee, resulted in Lee stumbling into battle. Also, the loss of Stonewall at Chancerllosvile was devastating to Lee and his loss was really felt at Gettysburg, particularly on the first day.
i here because my teacher showed us this.. and the end of this movie made me cry a lil *sniff*
