@Lissy818 i bet she was thinking what a screwed up decision she made and was laughing at herself. She could have been living at the mansion instead of visiting. ;)
@Wishgirl198 Actually, you may not be all that off base. Many scholars believe that Mr. Darcy was based off of a man who was in love with Jane Austen, Tom Lefroy. Look him up on Wikipedia, or watch the movie "Becoming Jane".
7 people clicked the wrong thing...those are the people who like twighlight over jane austens masterpiece. will they ever learn what real literature is?
@killingbeastxx bet you are one of those people who would prefer TWILIGHT over pride and prejudice...... this movie and book are far more superioir in english literature as compared to ..... wel you know :D
the scenery (the rocks, the dear) , the house (Darcy's at Pemberly...which i think looks like Versaille on the outside), the music Gor.geous. my favorite movie ever. it annoys the heck out of my sisters :P can't help it though!
Me encanta esta versión de Orgullo y Prejuicio, para mi la mejor versión, esa escena de Lizzy en la cima es sublime, la escena en que conoce a Pemberley es sencillamente divina, gracias!
7:30 This is one of the scenes I totally dislike in this version: Elizabeth, always conscious about the rules of society and politeness would never sneak up to anybody so uncivilly in their own home.
EVERYONE says the BBC is better than this one but it ISNT
Following of the book is not all that makes a film enjoyable! Jeez, the BBC, i my opinion, just lacked the romanticism and grace that this movie did. I'm willing to sacrifice a few plot step ups and stuff for a well done movie with good acting.
I SOOO agree i didn't really like the BBC one as much and even if the plot has changed a bit i think the characters are much better in this one and i didn't find the BBC one romantic at all!
I've watched four versions of p and p, and all of them have their good points. While a couple of them are closer to the book, if you watch just for a good movie, then this one is great.
I totally agree on the music. Maybe its because I have the scene in mind but when I listen to it makes me think about my first girlfriend and how much I wanted her back (A long time ago). While I think the whole movie is a visual treat I think the music is fantastic. I listen to it when I want to relax :)
@mentalist007coldplay I believe it was actually somewhat hinted... only that Lizzy was deliberately oblivious to it... for obvious reasons. For example, THIS Darcy is much closer to what I imagined while reading the book, in terms of demanour ;)
In the book, it was a portrait of Darcy Elizabeth gazed at, but I like that they used a bust of Darcy in the film. It draws a visual link with the Greek helmeted figure Lizzie looked at earlier - heroic, tragic pose + her gaze lingers on the naked chest and neck - then later she stares longingly at Darcy's bust - in a society where propriety is so important and everyone is so covered up, the use of the naked Grecian statues here really brings out the repressed sexuality of her feelings for him.
i liked the older version for being more true to the book, but i like the characters/actors of this on better, especially lizzie: she seens to be more rebbellious and playful in this one which i like:]
I can't make my mind up of which one I like better. I like this one with Keira Knightly but I also like the one with Colin Firth in it. To me in this one the characters Elizabeth and Darcy showed more passion for eachother and in the 1995 one it hardly cut out anything.
The statue at 4:08, I believe in this movie serves as a symbolic representation of Lizzie herself. It is as if it is unfinished -- her identity and future destiny (as Darcy's wife) yet to be "unveiled" -- a work in progress.
I thought that Wickham tried to seduce Georgianna when she was 15... and that had happened a while before Elizabeth met Darcy? So shouldn't Georgianna be older?
wow the 1995 pnp is sooooooo much better because you understand the story, characters and the scenes. This one has only a few scenes that are beautifully done....like the statue scene here everything else is so choppy....bleah..
The Gardeners' accents are completely wrong. Although they do live in Cheapside, they are still an upstanding family and would not sound so lower class. That, and Mr. Gardener is Mrs. Bennet's brother, and one sibling would not sound like he was from a completely different social level from the other.
aww omg i love how mr.darcy looks so pained when he's talking to elizabeth and she's trying to smile but she looks like she could break down any second
how do they make that affect on the statue with the veil at 4:03? like you can still see the facial features but there is a veil over it - how do they make that out of stone?
I saw a statue like that when I was in Paris. The sculptor is such a genius that he can actually sculpt in stone what appears to be a face showing through a soft thin veil. It's unbelievable to see in person too.
Yes, It worked kind of like a musuem. You had to get permission, but with her aunt and uncle being of some status, they could have easily been admitted.
I think the laugh is her realisation that Pemberley could have been her home if she had accepted Darcy. And it is'nt confusion it's admiration of the house.
lmao, im slow, i thought (from the cliff scene on) she was having a dream. when they were in the fields it just looked like it. and the statues and such
ahh!!! you can so tell that what they're trying to tell each other is "i love you!!!" this part always drives me crazy but makes the ending sweeter : )
You don't suck! This movie just has so many subtle moments which makes it such a perfect film to watch over and over again :) My personal favorite is at the first ball when Kitty says "You will never believe what we are about to tell you!" and Mr. Bennet says aside "She's going to take the veil" rofl!
