  • Bravo - Wonderful documentation. Thank you for posting!

  • what the bloody hell am i seeing?

  • None of you actually know what a Cicada is do you?

  • love the veins in there wings

  • Too bad the camera being couldn't stay out of the shot and simply change the camera view. Oh well.

  • WTF is that making that sound

  • no it isnt the cicada making that sound

the video is set in fast motion XD

  • que nojo.. pq eu to vendo isso?

  • yeah and your name is the kitten guru!

  • weird!!!!!

  • i got to witness this process tonight. last time i saw it was around 40 years ago. thankfully i got to see it again. hope you guys do too because the metamorphosis takes place before your eyes without the need for time lapse photography. the colors on the video don't come close to the range of colors you can see as they change. my favs are the iridescent pastels with the metallic copper reflective eyes .. thanks for posting.

  • on second thought naaaa dont taze it...

  • yea taze it...

  • Go, little dude!

  • I've heard this trilling kind of buzzing noise at night, it starts with one bug then all like, two hundred do it around me. Are those cicadas?

  • probably

  • those bugs are in my back yard alot and the click when my dogs sniffs it lol.. everyonce in a while ill see the shells!! those bugs scare the crap out of me

  • yea there loud!!!you can hear those things from a mile away.thats how loud they are.

  • Why do cicadas turn backwards when they're molding or whatever it is called?

  • yes it would

  • they are nice bugs.. They're mad fun to play with. They dont bite. I want to taze you i think that'd be hilarious. Maybe afterwards stomp you out and spit on you. You're probaly some trailer trash punk white boy that is too pussy to hurt other people so you hurt animals

  • Why don't you chill out, man? I'm a rich black kid, first of all, second of all, why are you on the internet threatening people over a fucking bug? xD

I don't go to your house and tell you to "go green" and protect animals that serve little other purpose then to bash into people's windshields.

A simple "I don't agree with that. Tazering animals is wrong," would have sufficed, but you fucking fly off the handle and yell at me. You need to center yourself or take some pills or something man.

  • I agree it would be funny to taze it.

  • Yeah but u must be a bit fucked up if u have the urge to hurt a living thing!

  • I stepped on one of those on accident and it buzzed so friggin loud. I was scared half to death!!!

  • i have lots of those in my back yard.

  • man i think one of these is in my tree right now. theres a loud buzzing noise coming from my tree and ive been trying to shoot whatever it is wit a bb gun lol

  • omg its soo cute...

  • Aww they're actually cute...but they still gross me out. One of them landed on my hand once when i was little, I guess thats why im scared of them til this day

  • cool. i love to look at bugs and things. ive never seen a cicada before.

  • eww omg gross gross GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they're pretty when they first molt, but after that i'll just keep my distance.. ick

  • hey those r in halifax the'er realy anoying. when i was down there i found a dead one

  • Wow, so it was shedding... cool.

  • I read that there are 3 broods of the 17 year cicada, each brood sings its own love song. I'm not sure how many broods of the 13 yr. Oh and the males do all of the singing.

  • Sometime around 1974, I saw a glow in the dark butterfly. It was very large, probably 6-8 inch wingspan. It glowed flourescent, I read somewhere that they are now believed to be extinct.

  • Cool. It would be awesome if they were still around.

  • This is really cool. Thanks for posting.

  • well.. munchkin, i didnt see a girl next to me so fuck you and get a life. find another way to get attension fag.

  • first, muchikun is a huge fag. second, cicadas are awesome! did you know some types live underground for 17 years until they surface, where they only live for a few weeks afterward? (and no, im not talking about locusts)

  • 1) fuck you asshole.

    2) cicadas are awesome.

    3) what do they do in those 17 years? hmm? besides grow. then what do they do for that short time? oh yeah they mate... fuckin dick. don't gaddam start with me .

  • LOL @ BUG MAN. if you get this angry over someone insulting an insect you should get therapy...or get better therapy

  • -_- not a bug man..some fuckin asshole started shit with me for no reason i responded accordingly...'tis all... ^.^

  • tell me the story plz

  • These fucking things are so fucking disgusting

  • it look like its humping xD

  • Fantastic homemade science video! How many hours was this? No, they are not creepy.

  • Thank's. May be 5 Hour.

  • Thanks for the reply. It is shorter than I thought. I guess they got to hurry up because the life is short for them. Now I feel bad about catching them when I was a kid.

  • This cicada was released at next day.

  • me too. It's creepy, and my basement smells of pickles, well the smell is up my nose actuall . . .

  • What a creepy looking bug. Sometimes I wish I could crawl out of my skin and be all new.

  • I never looked at a cicada that closely beofre. They are kind of fascinationg and beautiful in their own way.
