Transylvania is the latin name used by Hungarians,.
Hungarians in the Middle Ages used latin as official language so did mostly all Europe except Wlachs and Easter Europeans who used Slavic language.
So - CONCLUSION - you borrowed from the Hungarian the name Erdely = Ardeal, phoneticaly close to the Hungarian by meaning means nothing in Rumanian.
As we see even Transylvania you borrowed from the Hungarian, since you spoke and wrote in SLAVIC for 900 years.

I know at least 50 persons which are having hungarian names but they are completely Romanians. The persons that I'm talking about have names like names like: Sandor, Blenessy, Szilagy, Halasz, Silasi, Szovagy...
I do not know any hungarian holding a Romanian name and I do have lots of hungarian friends.

This proves perfectly that magyarization did not happen, but on the contrary. The Hungarians assimilated to Romanian, not the Romanians assimilated to Hungarian. The man can exchange a language under 1-2 generations if he is forced to this. But only a little part of people modified his name too. The ancestors of your friends with a Hungarian name were Hungarians.

Actually their families have old papers from before 1894 and their original names were something like: Suvagau (szovagy), Pescaru (Halasz) etc... Didn't this ring the bell to you about the forced hungarization? This is just another lie. Hungarians oppressed, slaughtered and didn't provide cultural, social or administrative rights to the Romanians, Serbs, Slovaks, Croatians, Germans, Ukrainians, etc... and the this is why Trianon was very just. Hungarians tried over centuries to kill or unnationalize teh Romanians from Transilvania for the only reason that Romanians were always representing the majority in Transilvania. Hungarians knew that the times for the national countries will come.

Hungarian kings always referred to this province as 'the land beyond the forest', that is Transsylvania. (The official language of the Hungarian Kingdom was Latin.) The Romanians had never used this name until the 19th century. Ironically, in spite of their Latin origin, the Romanians never ever used Latin as their official language. They used Slavic. So, the Romanian word 'Transilvania' is borrowed from the Hungarian regal documents written in Latin.

I blame some ethnics that are among us: jews, gipsies and people with mental problems.
