hey creationphotography kodachrome is reversal which has no latitude as DID dslrs so what exactly are you comparing the two to?cause latitude no longer applies.color balance is losing its relevance as is grain and image size,speed,and post processing.its jerks like you that fail to admit thier weekend warriors and end up taking away the sincerity and friendly atmosphere this art form offers your argueing over how to take a picture and wouldnt begin to know how to fill a frame

I bought a 40D 12 months ago. I must say that I would have bought the XTI if i'd just read up on them or seen a few of these vids but for me I was taken by the 30D I borrowed to try out first due to the ease and speed of setup for shots and scrolling through images etc. I'm glad I did as I do a bit of sports photography (bike racing) and when you need the speed it's great although I will say that a 450 or xti takes just as good a pic if setup right and if you can use the same lenses if upgrading

Canon XS (successor of XTi's sibling XT) has unlimited continuous shooting. And it costs a fraction of 40D.

By the way, I don't know how you can even say that Canon > Nikon, talking about the cameras. The Nikon D300 absolutely kills the Canon 40D in almost every aspect. Same with the D3 vs the 1ds Mk III... yeah the Mk III has a lot more megapixels, but most people don't need anything higher than 12.1 (which the D3 offers) anyway.

But as I said at the start, who gives a shit what gear you use? If you can make great photos with it, then you're all set!

what are you talking about? The Nikon D300's AF system is practically revolutionary. It has 51 AF points, while the 40D only has 9 points. The D300 also has a 3D tracking system.

If you're talking about the SPEED of the autofocus, that mostly depends on the lens, since all of Canon and Nikon's new lenses have the AF built right into them. What are you comparing? A Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 to a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8?? In that case, the canon would obviously be faster since that's a pro lens.
