Didn't have sound on but you missed the most important one - as soon as you finish setting up, QUIT the game, DF is stupid and wont save your binding til you quit (and if it crashes..which it probably will..) you'll lose it all.
can please someone help me? i downloaded the free trial and every time i log in, its ok for a while, with 600-800 ping, and all of a sudden it goes up to 40k ping and then i cant preform any action and start lagging which gets me killed, then i get logged out becuse theres an error with the server, please help me if you know what to do, i really want to play this game
@TheTrampolineMen seems fixed now but standard AV lack of care, they didn't even acknolwledge the 20 players they have reporting the issue until everyone started making hundreds of thread on it.
personally i think this series should be the very first sticky thread you see when you go to forumfall. watching these videos would have saved me quite a bit of headache when getting started. good job on explaining how to get rolling in darkfall. because as of now, 90% of what you covered here is not apparent when you start playing, which it should be.
consider making videos covering advanced concepts. maybe something focused on pve or pvp.
Wow that looks so complicated. I gave up, i couldnt stand the dying and getting you're gear back from corpse and get killed again by trying to get it back. You really gotta have alot of spare time for this game and patience wich i don't have :P

Why did they not include level and stats? So this game is more like the more u use a bow the more u become skilled with it? And if I like to use all weapons that would make me unbalance or weak as a character.
is there a way to sell multiple items at once ? ... like, to sell the loot , or do you have to drag them individualy into the sell box ? , same thing for looting graves , can i loot all the items at once ?

I would say so, yes. This vids are just fantastic for new players. Now there might be other ways to develop faster if you're already quite familiar with the game, but I can't really think of one.

I sub to both WoW and DF and love them both. Actually, the only reason I gave DF a try was because of trolls of mirokumasta. I'd heard so many bad things that I wanted to see just how horrible it was for myself. Needless to say, within 5 days I purchased the game. The troll probably played it, got ganked once and cried to the comment box.
You should not assume. I played the game for a day, for i could not stand it more than that, i did not die once. I just hated everything about the horrible game. How can you even compare i to something like WoW
I hope your being ironic there lol. WoW has the least grinding in any MMO ive played, and ive played quite a bit. The variety of ways to level is phenomenal compared to other mmo's, questing(which has completely been redone to remove such quests as "get 20 of these" or "kill 30 of those". After lvl 10 you could PvP or do instances to lvl 85 where the game truly begins anyway.
This video is a bit old, textures/graphics have been improved. An expansion geared towards PvE was released as well. Hellfreeze expansion (free) check it out!
@Mirelkooo the game doesnt need the best graphic card but it needs decent CPU to run decently in sieges and places where there is high population ( wich isnt many)
i remember having dual core 2,1 ghz CPU and when i updated it for 3,1 Ghz dual it pretty much tripled my FPS in sieges :)
im using HD 4770 and it runs perfect on normal settings and 1920x1200 res
@904xxiGhost well you could say that, but there is no levels in the game, just skill levels and skills improve by being used like in eldescrolls
the game is also harsher than other mmos, it has full loot system so if you are carrying your best armor and someone kills you, you can say good bye to that armor :)
and there are no 100% safe spots, you can be attacked in town but the guard towers will probably kill you killer before he kills you ( but there are exeptions ;) )
@migthefig In a game like darkfall you can be anything you want. People use 2handed weapons because they do more damage, but if your on the mount, you need to learn 1h weapons
I think the best way to look at it, from what I've read and seen, is as a homage to certain MMOG's and RPG's of the past.
I was looking forward to its release although couldn't play at that time due to various reasons, I'm now downloading the trial. Whether I continue to play or not I will always remember it for trying something new. Even if by 'new' I mean mechanics they thought up 10 years ago.
When I first heard about this MMORPG, I was thrilled and excited. The primary reason for my excitement were originated in what kind influences the creators got their ideas from, and as they referred Ultima Online as one of their sources I gained very high hopes for Darkfall as Uo to me still is the ultimate but unfortunate to old MMORPG. After long waits The game was finally released but the price was to high, and By looking at video clips I'd say I'm a bit disappointed...
Real good way to make money in darkfall, is to pick fights with people in citys, and tell them to fight you if there not scared outside of town, have like 3 of your friends outside the town and kill him, them find someone else and repeat. (give this some likes so everyone can see it.)
Darkfall -One of the most hardcore and most fun Mmos I've ever played. I tried the 14 day free trial and it was amazing. I didn't experience the best of it but it was fun as hell. I made a ton of friends in my 2 weeks. It's almost total freedom. You get to screw around or grind make money go to a dungeon thats way too hard for you (hehe). its really challenging. I joined a clan outside Agon & I loved it. WoW fanboys might not like it but Darkfall is the way to go if youre looking for a good MMO.

i understand this game isnt for your taste. it had a terrible launch thats why critics rated it badly and too early. it got better later on. WoW had a really bad launch too and it got better. and darkfall probably 5000 players(maybe more or less) but people stood away from it because of other mmos or bad reviews. and besides, i would take 5000 NICE and HELPFUL players over the 10 million SELFISH ASSHOLES in WoW. I just bought the game and i will continue to play it. its really hardcore
@ieatmeanpeople I am gonna give it a chance later on, but the reason why I got disappointed was not due to the reviews, but to the appearence of the game and that it seems to hold a large focus on pvp which isn't my kind of thing really (mostly because I suck at it and never learn anything so that I can improve =P) Aion Vision is the kind of vision I was hoping for, except for the grinding and gear needyness. I was hoping for a Ultima online with better graphics and mechanics.

I agree with you. Darkfalls gameplay was something very different from most MMO's and could have been great had they had spent more time with the game. Maybe 10 years ago, this would have passed for a good MMO, but it doesent look and feel like a 2009-2010 game should. I wish i could say this game is good, but it has to many errors to make it playable.

It shows how little you know about WoW, for its launch was a total sucess and that one of the reasons its so popular today. I find the community in wow to be very helpful most of the times, obviously because theres so many players, your gonna get the assholes aswell, same with darkfall. @mirokumasta WoW DID have a buggy launch. i was there since pre-tbc and i quit after wotlk. wow is mostly grind and quest from 55-80. i dont know about you, but thats very VERY boring. i feel more of a sandbox in darkfall. darkfall isnt one of those advanced mmos, but the feeling and the gameplay to us is fun.

I disagree. Take WoW for example, the top MMO out at the moment. Despite being out for 6 years, and having been changed drastically especially in the recent months, it is still the same game it was in 2004. Reviews are based on things that stay consistent. And despite darkfalls changes, its still a horrible game with half-ass graphics, a incomplete combat system, and a PvP worse than i have ever seen. id rather play RUNESCAPE. and thats saying something -.-

You did not say morrowind, you said oblivion. But i have played morrowind and though the first person combat may be similar, morrowind did it alot better. I did not say every other game is bad. Warhammer online is not bad, age of conan is not bad, everquest is not bad, but darkfall is. There are always aspects which make something good or bad, you can still like a bad game, it doesn't stop it from being bad. In darkfalls case, more people think its bad than good.
they didnt, accually. Mmorpg gave EVE online their GOTY for 2009, and even if they did give darkfall it, i wouldnt care because mmorpg is a bad site which gives crappy reviews that nobody cares about. Go to MMOchampion for a reliable source. I think the reviews of 2-6/10 show that im right here.

Against pathetic goblins yes.... But as generalized statement you would be wrong, very wrong. You would be hard pressed (read impossible) to take hundreds of hits from a dragon or giant without dieing.
Loved the game, but unfortunatelly at my playing time (euro evening) ping was above all possible measures (everything plainly frose)... stopped playing, though, think of reactivating and testing again - may be that problem was fixed somehow...

I deleted my human character and made a miridan (not sure how you spell it, werewolf looking guy).

@Mirelkooo the game doesnt need the best graphic card but it needs decent CPU to run decently in sieges and places where there is high population ( wich isnt many)
i remember having dual core 2,1 ghz CPU and when i updated it for 3,1 Ghz dual it pretty much tripled my FPS in sieges :)
im using HD 4770 and it runs perfect on normal settings and 1920x1200 res

Eh... Depends. I'm running an old 1gb AGP card. I run all of my setting at the lowest possible for better FPS.
Personally, even if you had great FPS with high settings, why not go the low route and have marvelous FPS? ;)

@904xxiGhost well you could say that, but there is no levels in the game, just skill levels and skills improve by being used like in eldescrolls
the game is also harsher than other mmos, it has full loot system so if you are carrying your best armor and someone kills you, you can say good bye to that armor :)
and there are no 100% safe spots, you can be attacked in town but the guard towers will probably kill you killer before he kills you ( but there are exeptions ;) )

I think the best way to look at it, from what I've read and seen, is as a homage to certain MMOG's and RPG's of the past.
I was looking forward to its release although couldn't play at that time due to various reasons, I'm now downloading the trial. Whether I continue to play or not I will always remember it for trying something new. Even if by 'new' I mean mechanics they thought up 10 years ago.

When I first heard about this MMORPG, I was thrilled and excited. The primary reason for my excitement were originated in what kind influences the creators got their ideas from, and as they referred Ultima Online as one of their sources I gained very high hopes for Darkfall as Uo to me still is the ultimate but unfortunate to old MMORPG. After long waits The game was finally released but the price was to high, and By looking at video clips I'd say I'm a bit disappointed...

Real good way to make money in darkfall, is to pick fights with people in citys, and tell them to fight you if there not scared outside of town, have like 3 of your friends outside the town and kill him, them find someone else and repeat. (give this some likes so everyone can see it.)

Darkfall -One of the most hardcore and most fun Mmos I've ever played. I tried the 14 day free trial and it was amazing. I didn't experience the best of it but it was fun as hell. I made a ton of friends in my 2 weeks. It's almost total freedom. You get to screw around or grind make money go to a dungeon thats way too hard for you (hehe). its really challenging. I joined a clan outside Agon & I loved it. WoW fanboys might not like it but Darkfall is the way to go if youre looking for a good MMO.

dude stfu. darkfall is awesome. it's not for everybody, no MMO is. its for people who miss challen ging RPGS and even models itself after UO, the greatest of all time. it got bad reviews because it didn't follow the 3rd person MMO template. level up, get new skills, target, push hotkey to cast - repeat. boring. its a crazy, brutal, interactive world that a lot of people can't handle. if you don't like it, fine. go play some boring cookie cutter shit for mindless idiots like WoW.

i was downloading this game but honestly i had to stop just cuz the starting stages looked so boring. ino you have to give things a try but this was gonna takee up a huge amount of space and i dont know if i eant to start some long char grind to be able to start pvping. thats the only thing i like to do on these games is pvp

i understand this game isnt for your taste. it had a terrible launch thats why critics rated it badly and too early. it got better later on. WoW had a really bad launch too and it got better. and darkfall probably 5000 players(maybe more or less) but people stood away from it because of other mmos or bad reviews. and besides, i would take 5000 NICE and HELPFUL players over the 10 million SELFISH ASSHOLES in WoW. I just bought the game and i will continue to play it. its really hardcore

@ieatmeanpeople I am gonna give it a chance later on, but the reason why I got disappointed was not due to the reviews, but to the appearence of the game and that it seems to hold a large focus on pvp which isn't my kind of thing really (mostly because I suck at it and never learn anything so that I can improve =P) Aion Vision is the kind of vision I was hoping for, except for the grinding and gear needyness. I was hoping for a Ultima online with better graphics and mechanics.

@ieatmeanpeople I have tried it now, and I might not have given the time needed to get a fully accurate opinion, but the game lacks in so many ways That I couldn't bare playing it any more than I did. The absolutely most important thing for me is good controls, and I simply found the controls awful! The graphics are bad and as a newcomer you're way to lost to understand what to do. I might try the expansion but what I saw atm was terrible. Darkfall is a dream that didn't fully became real.

I agree with you. Darkfalls gameplay was something very different from most MMO's and could have been great had they had spent more time with the game. Maybe 10 years ago, this would have passed for a good MMO, but it doesent look and feel like a 2009-2010 game should. I wish i could say this game is good, but it has to many errors to make it playable.

I find the community in wow to be very helpful most of the times, obviously because theres so many players, your gonna get the assholes aswell, same with darkfall. @mirokumasta WoW DID have a buggy launch. i was there since pre-tbc and i quit after wotlk. wow is mostly grind and quest from 55-80. i dont know about you, but thats very VERY boring. i feel more of a sandbox in darkfall. darkfall isnt one of those advanced mmos, but the feeling and the gameplay to us is fun.
and we get it. you hate darkfall with all your heart since its the worst game ever created in your perspective. i like it and quite a bit of people like it. so stop trolling

I disagree. Take WoW for example, the top MMO out at the moment. Despite being out for 6 years, and having been changed drastically especially in the recent months, it is still the same game it was in 2004. Reviews are based on things that stay consistent. And despite darkfalls changes, its still a horrible game with half-ass graphics, a incomplete combat system, and a PvP worse than i have ever seen. id rather play RUNESCAPE. and thats saying something -.-

Runescape is horrible as well, i would never play it. WoW on the other hand is absolutely amazing and tops darkfall 100-fold. The pvp system is horrible because the graphics are horrible. Face it, darkfall is bad, not an opinion, but fact.

I'm not saying it's a bad game since I started playing it when it was released and onto it's expansions, but to say Darkfall is bad and a fact is a completely ridiculous claim since that is utterly your opinion and if even one person believes Darkfall to be good then it contradicts your "fact". Just because WoW is backed by the company Blizzard who has been in the business for years doesn't constitute every other game being bad, since it is still just an opinion. Good is defined by the enjoyment a user gets from playing the game, if you don't like it then you don't but it does not make the game bad.. as you can see others disagree.

You did not say morrowind, you said oblivion. But i have played morrowind and though the first person combat may be similar, morrowind did it alot better. I did not say every other game is bad. Warhammer online is not bad, age of conan is not bad, everquest is not bad, but darkfall is. There are always aspects which make something good or bad, you can still like a bad game, it doesn't stop it from being bad. In darkfalls case, more people think its bad than good.

@mirokumasta hm, looks like my sources are a bit crappy. nevertheless, what you still are doing is troll the game, as all you present as facts that the game sucks is opinions of others and baseless accusations. i am currently playing darkfall and I achknowledge the boring parts it has but I also achknowledge the great rewards that lie in the end of the grind.Could also say that magic needs a buff pvp-wise end-game and that a GUI revamp (which is on the way) is needed. Um, that's the bad stuff.

Loved the game, but unfortunatelly at my playing time (euro evening) ping was above all possible measures (everything plainly frose)... stopped playing, though, think of reactivating and testing again - may be that problem was fixed somehow...
