  • Amazing F-ing performance. I've been a Counting Crows fan for many years and have seen many live performances.

Not once have I ever witnessed a performance like this.I almost feel cheated(Thanks Adam).

The fact that you can silence tens of thousands of people, having them hang on your every word(as seeen in minutes 5 thur 7) is freakin awesome. Great job love the Crows keep on rockin!!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS MUSIC

  • In my opinion this is the greatest performance of one of the greatest songs ever written. It's a shame most of this generation will go without hearing bands like counting crows, dave matthews band and the other 90's groups that have had such a huge impact on my life.

  • @abnmnmk Well said, my friend. 90's had GREAT music on the radio. What. In. The. World. Happened? Autotune? Probably. Radio is terrible now. We've went downhill as a society in our musical taste. Shame.

(Ps. I'm 18. Barely caught that nineties music and I still cling to it liike it were the best thing to happen to my life.)

  • @mysoteria7 Same man, I'm only 15 and this feels like my music. This is what defines me.

  • storyteller

  • more than inspiring...im speechless every time i see and hear this video.

  • Best performing of this song ever... Addicted to the 'replay button'

  • WHY DOESN'T THIS HAVE MORE VIEW?

  • mmmmma trying to hard, and I am a serious fan. This song screams understatement, not this melodrama.

  • @atheistrevival i think the letterman version was pretty understated.

  • not likely we will ever he a voice as unique and painful and astonishing as adams ever again

  • I don't think I've ever seen a performance that was as much about *acting* out the lyrics as it was about singing them. And I don't mean that in an "it's all an act" kind of way, I just mean that Adam Duritz isn't just singing lyrics, he's telling a story and believing every single part of it. Every word is as important as the one preceding it.

  • There so much soul in it. It's clear that he was born for it. It's just.. so stunning to watch. Such a materpiece, thank you Counting Crows.

  • One of thee best performances ever.

  • Me again, i've watched this video 5 times today already :/

  • Had chills all through that, you can see the audience are getting taken away with the song.

  • Goosebumps everytime I watch this. He turns the song into a story.

  • For sure is a really good song.... im passing by one of the worst moments of my life.... and this song helps me to think how to work it out.... should i get a gun ant put in my mouth... or keep trying?...... like Adam sings... "She said she was thinking of jumping..." i dont have a high buildings close...... sry about what i wrote.....

  • I can watch this video over and over again and stil get the shivvers, this is f*cking BRILLIANT!!

  • cant produce this on x-factor! Truley amazing!

  • @paulcha11 Simon wouldn't know what was in front of him. His concern is how "pop" it can sound

  • best ever

  • this is my absolute favourite performance.

  • Manchester Orchestra is the new counting crows

  • @Greg2162 They are talented, but Andy Hull has a long way to go before he writes songs nearly as prolific as Duritz, and CC is one of the tightest bands ever. Man Orch are mostly Hull's sidemen, and they don't improvise like CC. Still, Im Like a Virgin Losing a Child is a great album, not as high on the newer one.

  • @theatlantisrise You maybe right, I'm addicted to listening to all the different versions of shake it out, I'm canadian myself and I fear manchester orchestra will not get famous enough for a canadian tour, did you see the 1998 pinkpop version of this song, it's here on youtube

  • @Greg2162 I should have implied something completely different--Manchester Orchestra has WAY more marketability than CC. They cater to a much younger audience. Im surprised Man Orch doesnt play more in Canada, seems like they'd have a good fanbase up there. CC is a rare case of a group that sells lots of records and songs ("Mr. Jones" and "Accidentally in Love" have both charted top 5), but as far as seeing them live they have a very cult aspect to them, a lot like DMB but on a smaller scale.

  • @theatlantisrise I don't think America will market Andy Hull, come on he's better than pop,, I tell you someone else to check out ,Jimmy Gnecco, he's dirt poor, not marketed at all, amazing voice

  • @Greg2162 I thought about it , you maybe right, they maybe for a younger crowd , But a university band, college students, much like the way TOOL started, their lyrical content may be too offensive for a wider fan base

  • lol 03:18 she`s talking into the speaker :D

  • When does the crying stop after watching this? <3

  • @autiepop when you wish to :)

  • The about of emotion makes Supersonicdale go wauw

  • simple...but perfect...love this song

  • Just want to say to all the people that are hating many many many artists look up to that man and wish and try to be that comfortable with their songs and band to do that. you just saw one of the greatest performances in history

  • This version is amazing considering it's live. Most artists have a hard time transitioning from a studio sound to a performance. Sure, it's not the same but it makes so much sense and adds so much emotion to it. It's everything the singer meant for it to be. At least respect the song. If you like the studio version then search for it.

  • This performance sucked dick I used to love this song now every video I watch of it is horrible for all you people that like this version there's a version out there that would make you shit your pants

  • the best song ever ...!!!

  • Impressive... Goosebump time...

  • :') ............goosebumps

  • this performance rules.

  • Can't you see that my walls are crumbling down?!

  • @adamnewton42 And youtube isn't the fucking adamnewton show? so shut the fuck up and listen to the song if you don't like it or don't respect adam duritz you don't respect the counting crows.

  • here are 21 ppl with totally no sense of art an music!

  • @carlosdiazphotos now there are 22.. and that number will never cease to grow. The least we could do is hope that for elevation.. The likes bar will increase 100-fold. ;)

  • The video = MeWithoutYou + lyrical melody and expression at its best

  • Best song writer ever no question

  • @ItsCdizzleFoshizzle not only that, but also the greatest peformance of any song...

  • @ItsCdizzleFoshizzle errr ever heard of Bob Dylan, John Lennon, etc etc... Neverthelss amazing song.

  • this is genuinely amazing.

  • really cus i kindof think he trashed it...

    just me though

  • This is the best version of this song ever recorded by man..........period. It's incredible.

  • will you remember about me?? oh awesome his agony will you remember about me

just one thing hell yeah i wiiiiiiiiiiiilllllll!!!

  • Man, I can't get over that part where the tune changes at 7:34. I've even forgot this part of the song because this live performance is just so phenomenal. I've seriously listened to this for the 5th time in a row.

  • Wow, this has to be the most emotional performance I've seen. You can feel how he felt when he wrote it.

  • 1 word. epic

  • please guys dont put dislikes. i recenlty had to sing it solo at a school concert and it was fucking hard to sing so just watch anonter video if you do not like that ok?

note till the last minute i wass thinking to tell ''were all fucking tired of somethin'' and ya know somethin? i said it and i had a huge aplausse so please.

  • 3:46 feelings start to change

  • BEST FUCKING PERFORMANCE OF ALL TIME

    I DARE YOU TO DIFFER

  • @96ryanfrancis not sure it's as good as the versions from the MTV/VH1 double album, but its the next best one I've found after a long time of looking for another good version!

  • august and everything after is the best album I own..

  • I refuse to believe Maria is fictional, the evolvement of the lyrics can't just be his own suffering reflecting over his own life, there has to be heartache!

  • @tkisb Maria is himself, He is Maria.

  • @336forlife Yeah I know, that's what I can get out from it, but all I'm saying is that it's his word against the interperator and he maybe doesn't want people to know. Just speculation though.

  • at 7:41 face: MELTED

  • This is just awesome.

No words in this World can descripe this feeling when listen to this.

  • I really do think that this is a classic example of a band getting bored of their songs. I love this song and I think they really peaked in performing it on the New York album. Both versions on that album were amazing. This version, is not. Adam is over-doing the vocal changes and the band are doing their own thing. Sorry guys, I love you but I don't love this.

  • @christothebusker nah... i think he's just totally stoned ;)

  • HOLYYY FUCK...i really got tears in my eyes when i watched this live version. thats invincible!

  • Awesome performance, I must go see them in July!!

  • great live peformence. Adam Duritz is one of the few who can edit his songs live and make it sound good.

  • Goosebumps!

  • 6:05 -6:08 He is like-"Oh man Adam where you going with this, shit!"

  • That Guy is a fucking poet

  • I've been reconnecting with Counting Crows for the first time in years. It's been nice. This might be the best version of any of their songs that I've come across. I love how natural and organic the tangents feel. I caught them live once in Vegas and it was an awful show and I left seriously disappointed since I knew that they could also perform like this. Oh well.

Any body else notice Tony Hawk and David Hasselhoff in the crowd 10 seconds apart from each other? Ha!

  • you can tell they really produce complex music by the fact that you cant find good acoustic covers on youtube

  • Perfection

  • 6:06 ...."those arent the right lyrics..."

  • I hope this one never gets deleted on youtube.... this should be free forever, for all generations, all people whether they live in peru, italy or china.... It simply shows that people walk the path of emotions every day, in any minute, at any place in this world. "Will you remember about me?" - This line is magic, because 5 words express, what everybody is afraid before he´s gone forever to a place nobody knows. Thx for posting.

  • luv the acoustic version but this is great too..:)

  • when they come to charlotte. if he doesnt sing round here. im going to kick a turtle.

  • how could you dislike this? i can't even begin to express my feelings on this. it's beyond amazing.

  • does anyone know what song they played before this

  • this should have been a performance at a small gig like house of blues. and definitely at night. it's such an intimate performance of this song!

  • 20 people have never liked someone other than themselves

  • That was heartrendingly beautiful.

    I love you, Adam.

  • One of the BEST ALL TIME LIVE PERFORMANCES EVER!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I love how he tells the story with his actions not just his words...excellent performance

  • 8:34 Wow.. Goosebumps in my soul

  • why is he on the ground at the beginning?

  • @3the4truth Tired out from singing the previous song, I'm guessing.

  • How in the he'll do you not like this?? There's only one explanation, those people like the shitty pop bands on the radio today. People that think evenged sevenfold is a good band.

  • @Danklin24 avenged sevenfold isnt a pop band :/ but i agree with you! i love this song! and all of theyre music

  • Soy fan el idioma en que lo diga es lo de menos sus sentimiento atraviesan fronteras. Un genio de la lirica

  • best pinkpop lineup ever - 2008

  • oh my god... this is so good.

  • Great version but the Howard Stern one is still my favorite

  • Hes a good performer but i find him just slightly pretentious.

  • @Timmahhh86 maybe he's just high :)

  • @Timmahhh86 that's due to his mental illness

  • Y sigo poniéndolo una y otra vez... Creo que soy adicta a este vídeo.

  • 20 people can go to hell.

  • @JulianMichael100

20 people will go to hell ;)

  • 20 people can go to hell.

  • Alucinante. Podría verlo un millón de veces y seguiría emocionándome hasta la médula...

  • This is fucking amazing, i know not one singer who puts this much emotion and feeling in his songs.. it is just so fucking good, i do not have words for it

  • @boondockscar Janis Joplin sang with as much emotion. His stage presence is just like hers.

  • I hope that some day we can dislike those who dislikes here.

  • Of all the songs I've heard...this is the only one that still makes the hairs on my arms stand up every time I hear it...that's power.

  • this song takes me to great places

  • Beautiful :)

  • That nigga is TRIPPIN!

  • Backstage a few years ago in Charlotte and Adam came creepin` off the bus barefoot!! What a trip>>> Great Band, always been a favorite.

  • La musique par excellence ! donner vie à une une chanson comme cela on ne peut être

qu'un très grand ARTISTE ! merci encore.

  • never get sick of this song........ every time i fall in love with it all over again

  • @saryranatasha yeah same for me, i can't help but cry when i hear it :3 but in a good way

  • Ahhh, my favorite band. So good in fact that at times of my life when I feel depressed, the music, lyrics and use of piano and guitar, make me slow down, breathe, and understand my feelings, something i have trouble doin bein a man.. But this music lets down my barrier, and consumes my negativity, into positive believing.

  • brilliant !

  • This is amazing!!!

  • My Two Cents;

I'm not going to call Adam Duritz an amazing singer, but he does deliver with emotion. I think people also take for granted the actual band, a lot of the beauty in this version is the instrumentation.

Duritz can sing, as he does in the studio(I like to assume), but he's more an entertainer, a story teller. Not all people dig that.

A fine example of it being a bit over the top is 2:10-2:30, other random parts

A fine example of the power he has, and beautiful instrumentation 4:00-end

  • This song still gives me chills. What an incredible performance also. Would have loved to be there.

  • THUMBS UP! Truly amazing!

  • fin

  • awsome !

  • if this song doesn't touch you in deep places you would never admit you simply have no heart or soul. just the epitome of immaculately brilliant poetry.

  • if this song doesn't touch you in deep places you would never admit you simply have no heart or soul. just simply immaculately brilliant poetry.

  • 20 people missed the thumbs up button.

  • Epic

  • I absolutely LOVE how the band can consistantly keep up with Adams genious time and again. Best band ever!!

  • He delivers this song amazingly

  • Wow, he really feels his lyrics...

  • It was one of the most emotional performances I ever saw when I saw them live. It was fucking beautiful.

  • There are no words for this... This is human emotion at it's finest.

  • Jim Crow

  • Jesus!! that was freaking amazing!!!

  • "but we're all fucking tired of something" I love how he sings like a conversation in his live performances, he can change the meaning of some of the verses just by the way he delivers it. Incredible is an understatement of this...

  • @yoogoplop Hmm I think it ruins the song sometimes for the most part this performance was OK but he destroyed it in a few parts like he was some butcher and ''Round Here'' was a slap of meat, I for one hate him doing the convo singing. I've come to the conclusion its because he is a attention whore and wnts to be the only one singing. Dont get me wrong i love adam duritz and counting but i will take the album version over any of the live versions.

  • @Murderofon3 ur stupid. shut up...

  • @yoogoplop I totally agree- I love when he sings Mr. Jones and he says "Sometimes that's just about as fucked up as you can be" and also when he sings "we all wanna be big big big big star and we get so fucked up about that". I love love love it. This is one of the best Round Here performances I've seen

  • @yoogoplop He has performed this song hundreds if not thousands of times live. Every performance was different. This guy is special and I love him for saving my life with his lyrics.

  • One of the best live bands. Not many songs are written that tell a story you can relate to like Counting Crows. Inspirational!

  • That could have well been the greatest 9:53 of my life. I am truly a better person after watching this.

  • That band rocks it...... Hes incredible as a vocalist.....

  • The Counting Crows are as real as a band gets...AMAZING!!

  • I think I just got torn apart.

  • A lil artsy for me!

  • when i saw the girl at 7:43 i recognized that i was sitting in front of my computer the same way not believin´ it. best performance ever. wish i had been there.

  • If you don't have a good set of headphones... get some, plug them in, press play, close your eyes, get lost, and enjoy.

  • 19 people simply have no souls.

  • goosebumps over my back...

  • Right now I think I might be able to like Frightened Rabbit...they are a bit like CC you should check them out. But in general Van Morrison is just about everything I need. Anyway, what do you suggest?

  • Right now I think I might be able to like Frightened Rabbit...they are a bit like CC you should check them out. But in general Van Morrison is just about everything I need. Anyway, what do you suggest?

  • I wish that chick wouldnt laugh at 6:40 - 6:45...she ruins the mood...

  • @nintendoneil I know, probably the least appropriate laughing I've ever heard.

  • @nintendoneil Shit fucking PISSED ME OFF. The way he delivers it is so real, and some drunk chick is like HAHAHAHAH HE JUST SAID IT SO WEIRD DATS FUNNEYYYY.

Fuck you, half drunk chick. Fuck you very much.

  • why on earth was he lying on the ground

  • That's what they call "leaving it all on the stage". Brilliant

  • not my favourite version, nevertheless: touching.

  • One of the few active bands that I can listen too.

  • @Stolarz1987 keep searching my friend :-) there are some really good things out there..
