James ,enjoy so much your playing and the innocent lovely sound of the old organ. Sounds seldom heard today in this fast paced World we live in . I know you love to play, and it is wonderful to listen to
The first time I heard this hymn was on an acoustic 78 RPM record at Goodwill in Mountain View. When this hymn was written, reed organs were popular in places where pipe organs are either too bulky or expensive.
May God bless you for playing the old favorites on the parlor organ. It brings tearful remembrance when I sang as a little child in the First Baptist Church with the Adults during the regular service. We had a electrical tube organ. They are all gone now(early 1950's). Perhaps someday I will sing with them in the hereafter. Oh, may such basic faith the the values thereto somehow survive. Thank you again. RMW
Hmmm... Youtube has croaked the video somehow. I'll delete it and replace with a new performance. I have better mics now anyway!!
