Yes. The slim jim works on almost all new vehicles. You just have to learn the proper technique for each brand. If the slim jim doesn't work and the lock mechanism is visible inside the vehicle you can bend a coat hanger and lift up on the mechanism from under the glass. If neither of those techniques work and the car has electronic locks you can take the antenna and slip through the upper crack of the door to push the unlock button. I will post some slim jim videos in the near future.
@warhammer4real well your state must have different laws, where i am only locksmiths, tow truck drivers and people like that are aloud to own them, out here if you get caught with one its a felony for possetion of burglary tools.
i bought 5 OF THESE SLIM JIMS FOR $1 DOLLAR EAG @ DOLLAR STORE AND ON THE BACK OF THE PACKAGE..IT EVEN EXPLAINS TO YOU HOW TO BREAK IN DEPENDING ON WHICH TYPE OF VEHICLE YOU HAVE...TOYOTA..FORD..HONDA..KIA..ETC
Hot wirings easy, pull out your wires under the steering colum, find your "hot" wires goin to the ignition (usually red or yellow), strip em and twist them together, then find your starter wires (usually brown or sometimes black) and strip them and touch them together a few times till it starts. Im sure you can find info online thats probley a little more detailed then me haha.
5 stars, Now my robbery plot is perfectly planned. Thanks Jim Ill be sure to leave your name in the dark, Unless things get to serious, Until then great demonstration!
I just used a slim jim this weekend to open a friends car who locked her keys in her car with the car running. This tool is still useful. And her locks were the ones that are up front on the side panel of the door and have to flip out away from the door. So the tool has more applications than just upright locks.
In this particular model (can't recall the name. Alura? Something like that. A mid-size) I had success using the slim jim about 3 to 4 inches in front of the outside door lock. I'd say I went about 6 or seven inches below the visible part of the window. Hope that helps.
hey i found 1 of these left in my car from when i had my rear taillight bulb changed but its is fatter and is white and rlly small compared to this and it has like a curve on the end how do i use this?
You can get em here.but as the guy said, they basically work only on older vehicles (like those that have a lazy pawl)but they do work on a lot of the newer cars that have vertical linkages, including Ford Explorers and evem the Mercedes M Class.Even though the slim jim is an indispensable tool,I recommend you get a set of auto jigglers, they are far more versatile.
haha i just locked my keys in my car like 5 minutes ago im trying to figure out how i can save a couple of bucks and do it myself... ive got a shoe horn and a coat hanger... but i cant seem to lift up of the locking mechanism... oh well i just called CAA so ill have to figure out how to do it another day
yeah my teacher's car got jacked and the robbers stole his stereo and all that shit thats awesome and expensive XD And yeah.. they used a slime jim :( Now he never buys expenisve stuff. Its all stock XD

Thats it smart guy show the world another way to break in to something.Nevermind that some people shouldn't have this kind of information. Why don't you just come to my house at 3a.m. and unlock my car for the thiefs that could be using this video for the wrong reason.Security Professionals don't tell the world how to get around security.
On the contrary, security professionals release product vulnerability papers on a regular basis. True criminals will always be among the first to find exploits and vulnerabilities; That are often left unfixed for years before attention and consumer awareness is raised. Bump Keys are a prime example of this, which have been used by criminals since the 70's at least, but only fixed after the public was let in on it.
Get the "BIG EASY" car unlock tool kit. It contains an air wedge and a long non-marking rod. You'll be inside in 3 minutes or less depending upon your skill with it. The Slim Jim doesn't work with sideways locks like the Suzuki Grand Vitara as I tried it. WARNING: you can damage internal wiring and components in newer vehicles.
Yeah, using a reach tool is great. Air wedging doors open also damages them as they never fully close again. And the slim jim does work on sideways locks like oldsmobiles, some hondas, and others.
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus I needed opened, and I tried a slim jim. No luck... but I bent the tool a little bit, slid it in from the side of the door/window at the top, and was able to pull the lock up.
