While SGU was indeed very different in terms of atmosphere and mood than SG-1 and SGA, I still loved it no matter what. And you know why? All in all, you can only blame SyFy, as anybody that respected a HUGE Stargate fanbase would not cancel season 3 (last) because they lost a few (in TV reality) bucks.

It's a fullblown shame they cancelled SGU. The end of season 2 was the ideal prelude for the third season. Now we will never know if Rush discovers who created the hidden signal in the Big Bang or if they'll ever get home for that matter. Why doesn't an oil-billionaire finance the series ? Colonel Young and Dr. Rush were counter weights to each in a way, although along with Chloe I agree again with you that Camile was sort of a boring character, but she was almost like a counter weight to both Young and Rush. I'm not going to blame them for trying to add more drama as long as it's the right kind of drama. We never gave the show a chance anyways though for them to kill off characters we hated.

@GSMOUSA i agree with Camile , but the thing with Everett is he didnt want to be the one making life decisions for people so his character is constantly dealing with trying to figure out the right choice in situations while he has to deal with Camile or Nicholas Rush trying to overstep his authority , thats the one thing i like and hate about the show the people on destiny are not all military personal like SGC or SGA so it shows alot of tension , but it also gets annoying after a while as well

Personally, there were a lot of things wrong with Universe. Lack of a title sequence, shaky camera, all the botched relations in the first season, how dark it was (visually and mentally), but most of all- it really didn't feel like Stargate. It felt like a different series. Atlantis was differenet, but a lot of it was still the same. SGU just tottally seemed off.
Granted, Season 2 was way better thna season 1. But by then it was too late, IMO. If anything, let's get SGA and SG1 returned.

Absolutely love the intro. Makes me believe there are endless possibilities in the world. I truly loved this show from beginning to end. It was different then SG-1 and BSG, it took its own path and made it's own unique twist and story on it. Really hope someone reboots this series someday

@unclesamfatg As much as I wish they would, I think that ship has long sailed. It's not just a matter of the funding for production, it's getting the whole cast back together (and I don't think there would be any point continuing the same story with a different cast). Best I think we can hope for is a reboot of the franchise in some other series in the late future I think, hope I'm wrong though!
None of you understand: The finale was written and filmed BEFORE the cancellation was announced. It will be left unfinished, there is no plan to continue it.

SGU breaks so many conventions of typical Sci-Fi shows, it's the most well written series I've watched. The amazing musical score is only serves to make an already excellent show into something even greater. SGU ceases to amaze me.

If you think about it Battlestar Galactica has way more drama then Stargate Universe. Or at least for the fact that it has been out much longer. But, I don't see near as large a crowd of people whining about the drama in that show. Which makes me believe previous stargate fans argue about drama and other pet peeves about the show, because it's not the same that they are used too. I think its more they are in denial of the change and wont accept it, because of that. They want the same old thing.
A better comparison would be Battlestar Gallactica. Butm wait, doesn't that show have lots of drama also... Still, people arent complaining about drama in that show. All the more reason that makes me believe people are putting down SGU because its different than what they are used to. All Im saying SGU needed more of a chance.

Colonel Everett (Louis Ferriera), nothing special, always mad, gives you the feeling like he's going to snap any moment.
Camile (Ming Na), always looking desperate, probably didn't see her even smiling from the beginning of the series
O'neil , no fun, no role, he just speaks a couple of sentences every 3 episodes and he doesn't really add much.
Now please tell me where was I mistaken in what I said ?

It was simultaneous and just downright stupid of SyFy. With the cast, I personally liked most of them. I think chloe was sort of a throw-away character but besides that i found them all likeable. The ONE thing i will agree with is what you said about O'neil.

I absolutely fucking hate that people say SGU wasn't as good as the first two shows. I've seen every episode of all 3 series twice over and SGU was just as great. People that say otherwise really don't give a SHIT about stargate. It was created by the same people, produced by the same people and written by many of the same people from the first two series. Personally, there were a lot of things wrong with Universe. Lack of a title sequence, shaky camera, all the botched relations in the first season, how dark it was (visually and mentally), but most of all- it really didn't feel like Stargate. It felt like a different series. Atlantis was differenet, but a lot of it was still the same. SGU just tottally seemed off.
Granted, Season 2 was way better thna season 1. But by then it was too late, IMO. If anything, let's get SGA and SG1 returned.

Absolutely love the intro. Makes me believe there are endless possibilities in the world. I truly loved this show from beginning to end. It was different then SG-1 and BSG, it took its own path and made it's own unique twist and story on it. Really hope someone reboots this series someday

TV is now just brain-melting, insulting garbage, appealing to women and 10 year old girls.
Constantly pumping out "reality" TV shows, which aren't reality at all - just so all the dumb people in the world will watch, meaning great ratings, meaning more money - apparently.
TV is no longer a medium for intelligent media.
The only way to get out an intelligent story these days is by movie, clearly.
Sadly, nobody seems interested in making any good movies anymore either.

I'm so pissed off. Stargate and StarTrek are what appeal to certain people's willingness to find out what is out there in the cosmos. The answers to the great questions. And SyFy and MGM basically just told us they don't care.

There is now NOTHING stimulating on the TV for people interested in space/science.

SG:U offered a movie quality episodes each week for pretty much nothing with a great cast, plot, REAL social relationships in case of a crisis and struggle for survival and endless possibilities to develop Ancients' desires that came with the launch of Destiny.

Getting the cast back together wouldn't be that hard.
Most of them are complete unknowns, and would snap up the chance instantly.
Robert Carlisle would be the most difficult one to get, but he would come back.
I remain quietly confident that, they will at least have a DVD movie.
Instead of funding expensive TV series, they should just have an SG1+Atlantis+Universe movie, a blockbuster - Stargate II if you will.
That would finally finish off the franchise in a nice satisfying way.

It's not just a matter of the funding for production, it's getting the whole cast back together (and I don't think there would be any point continuing the same story with a different cast). Best I think we can hope for is a reboot of the franchise in some other series in the late future I think, hope I'm wrong though!

SGU breaks so many conventions of typical Sci-Fi shows, it's the most well written series I've watched. The amazing musical score is only serves to make an already excellent show into something even greater. SGU ceases to amaze me.

If you think about it Battlestar Galactica has way more drama then Stargate Universe. Or at least for the fact that it has been out much longer. But, I don't see near as large a crowd of people whining about the drama in that show. Which makes me believe previous stargate fans argue about drama and other pet peeves about the show, because it's not the same that they are used too. I think its more they are in denial of the change and wont accept it, because of that. They want the same old thing.

too bad that money decides about shows. the companies dont even realise what they do to us....we watch season 1, season 2. we get involved, we learn to love and hate characters, feel with them, fear with them. the whole story, gets our story. and then BAM in ya face.
