"...but deadly for twelve thousand years is carbon fourteen...", nuclear power is mass insanity. "They build machines that they can't control and bury the waste in a great big hole...", we're only drinking and eating the nuclear waste we're trying to bury. "Power was to become cheap and clean...", as long as we keep the byproduct out of sight. "You can't exchange a six-inch band for all the poisoned streams in cumberland". "One day in the nuclear age they may understand our rage" - no nukes.
@logansaan Not my favorite song but definitely my favorite album. I saw the tour in 1986 in Melbourne. I am going to see Sting again in January 2011 with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Dedicated to all the miners that lost their lives in West Virginia. And their families. "Our blood has stained the coal...We matter more than pounds and pence. Your economic theory makes no sense." May Massey Energy BURN in HELL!
It's 40 degrees outside, in Florida. My boss is stranded in a blizzard, in Texas. The climate data was a fraud. The Holocene is coming to an end. Sometime in the near future (on a geological sense) the ice will advance. Canada, Sweden, and New York will become uninhabitable. Florida will dry out and become a desert. Global warming ain't gonna happen.
@godzillasmother uhh, its actually already started. Do some intensive reading of scientific journals (don't watch Faux News) and get your facts straight, can't shift jet and gulf streams and expect no results. Global Warming and Global Weirding.
hey gzm... spelled faux as in french for "imitaton" my conceit, I understand your reluctance. No honest scientist closes the door on any debate. Unless its creationism debate, and I do NOT WANT TO go there. Geology lessons are great, and btw, limited theoretical evidence that we are indeed, moving into an ice age.
The Romans had a curse that they levied upon their most disliked people... "May you live in interesting times"
The point this video shows is all too true, if it was re-written to be about the economy falling and coal mining, it would be exactly correct. Rail workers too, because coal is half of what they haul.
думаю, я не ошибусь, если предположу, что это Россия? или СНГ?

yes, this is the BIG sound - that NEW SOUND - that NEW AESTHETIC that ushered in the NEW TIME... yes...

@Wedneswere - The sound is almost a little 'Wall of sound' in its delivery. No Sting album has sounded quite so fresh (maybe Ten summoners Tales)...

If there are two things in this world I don't take seriously, it's Fox News and people who can't spell Fox.
I trust my geology lessons far more than I do a politician who tells us we have the facts, the science is in, there is no further debate.

This has always been one of my favorite Sting songs. This presentation was excellent. The photos were very evocative of desolation.
