  • One of a kind. Really he was the real deal. He often said he was a martial artist first and a actor by profession.

  • To all the religious using this as an example of faith, Bruce Lee was an atheist. Seasons Reasons!

  • @mmmikemartin yes true,

When asked what major religion he was affiliated with in 1972 by journalist Alex Ben Block, p. 128

To be perfectly frank, I really do not.

When asked if he believed in God, p. 128

  • this is awsome

  • Enter the dragon.... Best movie ever

  • Words are only pointing. The words may point at the truth, but the truth is not in words.Truth is truth. Experience is experience. Don't think, feel.

  • LMAO he was slapped on the head like a bruce lee's bitch!

  • what if bruce lee joins the UFC?

  • @Indigilmer know any good necromancers?

  • @Indigilmer he would all competitors and I do not even know why the hell people compare this man to them shitty as fighters that fights like monkeys in cage, fighting is 80 pro cent about emotional content not pure strength

  • @Johnnybomb1 it was found in his blood in his autopsy reports

  • if bruce was alive and my teacher, and saw how im doing with my martial arts, hed slap me until my head falls off XD

  • There is more to learn in the philosophy over the techniques

  • I remember watching this scene back when I was like 3 or 4 years old.

  • i finally get wat he means. thanx bruce u always put things so clearly

  • 4 People stared at the finger and missed all that heavenly glory

  • Jet Li vs Bruce Lee! I'd take Jet 7 days a week and twice on Sundays.

  • @mreman2 well based on the fact that Jet li only has wing chun, and bruce lee has different disciplines in Jeet Kune Do... I'll put my money on bruce lee

  • @mreman2 Nice comment. But that's like saying you went to college and I only H.S., so you're a better mechanic than me because you took calculus.

  • @mreman2 please don't post again dumb ass.

  • What a bully lol

  • thumbs up if you were concentrating on the finger!

  • Comment removed

  • Who else was giggling the entire time watching this video

  • thats it!

  • Jet Li would kick of in Bruce's BUTT

  • @mreman2 You can't be serious, right?

  • @mreman2 By saying that you have degraded yourself. Be water, my friend.

  • Li Jun Fan, motherfuckers!

  • I said emotional content, not anger! Now try again with meaning!

  • Samuel Jackson should of played bruce lee

  • When I hit my girlfriend on the head like that I just can't seem to get that crisp snapping noise... And I've tried so many times :(

  • Bruce Lee should make his own version of the Slap Chop.

  • i love the look the kid is giving him when hes "not taking his eyes off his opponent" XD

  • Never take out your eye to opponent even when you bow ! That's it......

  • it's hard to mastabate to this..

  • @chess747

    but not impossible!

  • Heh @1:35 The student has that look like what the heck did I do now? Btw the instruction Bruce gave there is correct. My teacher taught us the same thing (about the eye contact)

  • if you focus on the finger...you miss...the heavenly glory?

Is he talking about getting fingered?

  • DONT CONCENTRATE ON THE FINGER OR YOU WILL MISS ALL THAT HEAVENLY GLORY!

  • @co0li30a9 You wouldn't mess up if he was your teacher unless your an idiot :)

  • bruce lee was truley enlightened, "like a finger pointing to the moon" just like words are the content to the context of allness/nothingness.

  • 4 PEOPLE GOT SLAPPED LIKE THAT BY THERE PARENTS..

  • this man is sick lool

  • I love watching this clip. Both from the memory that comes with it and the message.

  • we need a legend button!

  • My fav scene in the whole film. Yet it underlines how much trouble Lee had in speaking English.

  • @gibaudrac1 He had no problem speaking English, that's just Cantonese accent

  • haha

  • watch zeitgiest(:

  • [Slap] Brush you teeth [Slap] Do your homework [Slap] Go to bed [Slap] Wake up, time for school [Slap] Eat breakfast quickly [Slap] Don't miss your school bus ...
  • Dopest scene ever in a martial arts movie

  • Pure nuts in a nutshell!

  • I understood phrase since I was 12...is it really that hard to wrap ones head around?

  • @usernamekjah

I think the younger you are, the less you complicate things

  • Assholism in a nutshell. Bruce Ree was a power tripper.

  • @dnlgberry Bruce Ree da man, yo. He'd have caught Bin Laden right away with his mad skills.

  • Most of the time I try to explain something by using illustrations, some people get trapped in the illustrations and therefore miss the whole point. Just like the young man in this video, focusing on the finger and therefore missing the lesson Mr Lee is putting forward. It is so frustrating! And most of the time, the more I try to make myself understood the more I'm misunderstood. Ha ha! Thats why I searched for this clip. I'm so glad I found it. It somehow comforts me. Thanks for posting it.

  • this is truth.

  • daoism in a nutshell

in nay case his english wasn't bad, he'd have worked instead of david carradine

  • omg, it is SO SILLY! Must be american production ;-)

  • (slap!) never take yo eyes off yo oponent, even when you bow... haha i learned from this movie since i was 8

  • This is Buddhism in a nutshell.

  • @Phranky daoism*

  • @kapoof2 Both of them borrowed from each other.

  • i would love to be slapped like that 100 times all day as long as Bruce Lee is the Teacher =)

  • @customsnibai *bruce lee slap.... block,...counter that would be my last actions on earth!

  • @customsnibai In some weird way me too! Lol but lower lol

  • @customsnibai

    You love pain, you bastard!

  • bruce lee is a fucking legend, end of fucking story.

  • angers an emotion

  • @Seaoftea yes it is, but one that clouds judgement and wavers focus

  • @Seaoftea Anger is an emotional response...the whole point is to kick with an emotion and not with an emotional response. Theres a complete and utter difference. Reacting with anger takes your eyes/focus off on obtaining what one wants. As long as you have an EMOTIONAL FOCUS...the glow...the flow...whatever, then nothing can defeat you. It's hard to master however only a few have and Bruce Lee is one of the perfect examples of it. Well he is like the number 1 example, internationally.

  • The One and Only... Bruce Lee!!! Legend

  • don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenley glory

  • Absolutely!

  • GOD BLESS YOU BRUCE.. GOD BLESS YOU,I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU..

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie.

  • What it means emotional content???

  • Very Well Said!

Taken to a deeper level...why do we study martial art at all? To learn how to punch & kick? Maybe at one level but the reality is far deeper. We study martial art to try to understand self & who we are. We discover also that we learn about others...

Martial art is a mechanism, a method for us to understand ourselves & the world around us...it is like a finger pointing away to the moon....

As Caine said...."I seek only to understand the questions"...

  • @zenbodhidharma do you think we could achieve the same thing with music?

  • @SOYUNPINCHEBOY Absolutely, Yes! Bruce once said that art is the act of bringing emotion into the physical universe. In this way martial art & music are the same and share a commonality with all arts..

  • Wow!! Just realised that Bruce Lee's student is Steven Tung Wei, who is one of Hong Kong's well renowned action directors.

  • Don't think FEEEEEEEL

  • ou are exactly right, BlacKKawaru. I didn't understand what he meant at all when I was a teen watching this movie for the first time. The "finger pointing away to the moon" comment exhibits very well the way that too many people involved in any pursuit (exercise, education, politics, even Church) will focus too much on the trappings and peripherals of the activity - rather than grasp its essence and fundamental insights.

  • you can really see the part of brandon that was bruce in this video, and a great scene

  • "Don't conentrate on the finger or you'll miss all that hevenly glory"!!

  • When the student executed the kick with the correct emotion, the answer to how it felt should have been 'True'. The student did not recognise the feeling because he was thinking instead of feeling, just as you cannot recognise your destination if you are focusing on the road which leads to it.

  • i have one in better quality on my account.. but still bruce lee is awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Great scene!

  • Bruce Lee loves Extractable :-)

  • Wow ...that's the best scene of the movie ....

  • lmaooo! I always felt so sorry for that kid...

    Tnx for putting this up

  • I don't understand why my dumbass friends say that Bruce Lee takes steroids?

Are my friends retarded or did he take steroids? I doubt that Lee took steroids lol

  • there not retards. don't hate me or bash me for what i am gonna say cause i dont want to argue but rather share ideas and thoughts. Bruce lee did in fact take sterodis you can look at his forehead and tell cause a side effect of steroids is skull enlargement. Look at face in Way of the dragon and enter the dragon there is a big difference. Beileve yor not gonna see a ripped dude who just get their needs from foodsthere taking something. Don't hate bruce for taking roids though

  • @HBKISTHETRUTH HAHAaaAaha... okay...??? Where do you see an oversized skull in this scene?

  • @HBKISTHETRUTH steriods, pothead nonbeliever, i dont really care, bruce lee is bruce lee! what does hbk stands for?

  • I def. agree. geez everyone is thinking i am bashing him i'm not i love bruce lee i feel he was the greatest human being to ever lived on this planet.

  • dont think he was on roids, just "feeeels" like it!

  • Bruce Lee was focused. Completely committed to his work and his work involved making his body and his mind in perfect form and in perfect sync. He wasn't on roids he was just overly committed to his craft.

  • Your def. right he was v ery much so which why i love him and all. Bui I'm not bashing or hating him cause i feel he did use. My point is cause i work out veryhard and i use supplements along with royal jelly that when using certain things your gonna have certain results. Like think about it he was heavily deicated and all but is it normal for any human being to be at least 1% bodyfat . Did you also know he was suffering from amenisa. and i type all of this out of love.

  • you're right its not normal to be that fit but thats what made him so special. Martial arts were not just a part of his life, they WERE his life. Bruce wasn't even that big like typical roid users anyway, in fact he had a problem keeping weight on so the idea that he would be mostly lean muscle makes sense. That combined with the incredibly strenuous exercise program he did every day would keep anyone thin and trim

  • he experimented with all kinds of nutrition and supplements, and I believe you are correct, he did not, and would not have used steroids.

  • whats the name of that movie?

  • @MyhthrilLL are you kidding? lol

    enter the dragon :P

  • It means that you should focus on the meanings behind action and not the actions themselves.

If someone is pointing to the moon and you focus on the finger, you do not see the moon.

If the instruction is to kick with emotion and you focus on the command, you are listening to the instruction, not improving your kick.

Even if your kick gets stronger (i.e. through anger) it will not become better. Understanding the kick is as important as executing the kick.

  • @BlacKKawaru kawaru, great analysis, now if only you were a kung fu master, I would probably follow you to the ends of the earth.

  • @BlacKKawaru ...Well said 'Black Kawaru'. Phrased another way:

"Be Here Now; Now Here Be."

  • @BlacKKawaru Pure beserk anger rage power pwns everything, although i might say technique and efficiency are important too, but pure power beats all. Again thats my view hahhaha might not be same as ur, so for me understanding the kick is not important Pure power chuck norris round house kick is important! LOL

  • @tsultrimdawanamgyal if pure power "pwns" everything, human race would've been wiped out a long time ago by something stronger than us. there were so many creatures stronger, faster and have better endurance than human being. but we excelled because we understand the mechanics of things and reasons behind actions, simply put, we're more intelligent. that is how you beat sheer power. power isnt everything.

  • @TheGhostOperative Good analogy! I agree that intelligence is better, but in an unarmed fight Pure power beats all. I m talking about a fight between two warriors. During that fight brains can only do as much as understand things but it wont stop u from being over whelmed by sheer force of ur opponent. Thats why big gorillas thugs are always eager to fight. Their stupid punches carry power and its intimidating. Again its a fight between men not animals, but again good analogy! :)

  • @tsultrimdawanamgyal that's why u dont ever go head to to head with the opponent who is physically stronger than u, without a plan. there's no shame in fighting another day lol.

  • @TheGhostOperative yeah! hahah i hate gorilla thugs who have little brain but brute force. haha but i just realized that martial arts were created by weak people who had to match up to big thugs. So i to some extent think that a great martial artist can match up to a opponent who is bigger and stronger that him. I guess thats why i love martial arts cause it gives u hope or at least a chance lol. And fighting another day is called strategic retreat lol but is shamefull hahahha

  • @BlacKKawaru You did a very good job in explaining that

  • @BlacKKawaru Sounds like you really know your stuff, do you practice martial arts?

  • A great analogy is a menu. It tells you what is available but the menu itself is not to be eaten.

  • Enter the Dragon

  • what is the idea behind this phrase Bruce comes up with ?
