Great music and great video! ~ I especially enjoy the athletic events in it. Notice the high-jumper at 1:26 is still forward jumping over the bar, which ended with Dick Fosbury's "Fosbury Flop" he used to win the 1968 Olympic Gold Medal in the High Jump Event going over the bar backwards & lands on his shoulder. He is incorporating the landing (in sand at that), but has not mastered the approach to the bar in a "C" or "J" pattern to do a proper backwards over the bar roll to a shoulder land.
i heard he nailed that blonde toward the end of the video... right about 3:01 -- her name was louise gray and she was a hottie in her day. she is very old now, however.
Herb was the coolest- a stud. Slick. Dynamic. Way ahead of his time. He still stands the test of time. And married a hot, talented, sexy chick to boot- Lani Hall. They're still happily married- which shows you how grounded this talented man really is.
I haven't heard this song in about 40 years! My folks used to listen to the TJB albums a lot, and this tune was one I remember digging as a six-year old. Thanks much for posting it.
Herb and Lani are at Yoshi's club in San Francisco June 2, 3, and 4th. I saw them at Vibratto in LA 2 months ago and the show was astonishing. See them if you can.
I've loved this song for about 40 years and never knew the name and finally figured out who's trumpet sound it might be and eureka! Now I know what song I've been whistling all those years. :) Herb's the man.
I learned to play the horn while going to school in Southern Cal in the 60s. Learning Herb's music was a given. Next to Casino Royale, this is my favorite piece. Thank you, thegoochman, for helping me connect with that young guy hiding deep inside.
Is Hal Blaine doing this drumming or Nick ??

Came across this by accident. This video is cool. With a capital 'C' and its forty one years old too.
