There is just something special about Arnold. He makes us feel happy, excited, motivated and willing to go through anything and never give up. Arnold will always be Numero Uno.
arnold's proportions are what make him the greatest... what do i mean, well the length of his limbs/ torso, how his shoulders are set on his frame it makes his his body aesthetically pleasing to the judges/ viewer and that has nothing to do with training; it's genetics. if you have a stumpy small frame, short arms, long abdomen you're never going to look like that, sure you can try but you just can't.... the guy was built for it, and not just through training but god!

It is however debatable in Franco Columbu's case. He was a small stumpy guy and still managed to win the Olympia. Not against Arnold, but he was still good enough.

It wasn`t fair that Arnold competed into the 1980 Mr olympia.. He entered the show at the last minute and screwed up the other competitors.. He said he was going to retire after the 1975 Mr olympia, And he should have kept his word.. He didn`t need Bodybuilding anymore, His acting career was already taking off and the 1980 Mr Olympia was just a side show for him. He didn`t deserve to win anyway.. This contest was spot on. First off, yea maybe tom should have placed in top 5, but won?? i dont think so, his legs overpowered his whole upper body, and very poor back width. its a bodybuilding competition not a leg competition. And why in the hell does everyone think mentzer should have one? He had a good physique but nothing with him stood out above the rest , especially arnold. and zane was just way too small, ripped yes but small to the point where you couldnt find him on stage.

yeah Arnold took maybe like a month or 2 to prepare for the competition because he did pull in the last minute but he wanted to compete one last time. he was already lean because of Conan so it helped. you gotta realize that the others arent bitter because Arnold didnt take long to prepare like the others did, i know each and every bodybuilder wants the prize, the glory. they arent competing to place 2nd or 3rd. they want 1st. thats why they are bitter. they train for one day, one single event.

Arnold didnt compete for 5 years, even the cockiest motherfucker in the world would be aprehensive.Add to that the fact that he had only a few weeks to prepare himself. There's a biography of him that says arnold competed in 80 because conan was taking too much time to make and he needed something to keep him on the spotlight

how do steroids work?? at 8:45 he's working shoulders and his form sucks, yet his shoulders are huge... i get the recovery part, but their form is soo horrible and they still see results

Mentzer had an IQ off the charts, and did an enormous amount for the sport.
There were rumours that he was hooked on perscription amphetamines later in life, but don't think that makes him a Meth fiend.

Note how hungry these guys were after the competition. The reason: Steroids. They make you crave food like you wouldn't believe; a side effect. Otherwise, this is a great film.

One of the side effects of Steroids is extreme hunger. That was the point being made. And Steroids were being used while they were legal when filming this film. Those are the facts.

of course they left out mentzer, everyone there knew mentzer shouldve won, and yet, because arnold was more popular and in with thte judges and promoters he won. also mentzer was viewd as a mad man because he thought outside of the box.

This contest was spot on. First off, yea maybe tom should have placed in top 5, but won?? i dont think so, his legs overpowered his whole upper body, and very poor back width. its a bodybuilding competition not a leg competition. And why in the hell does everyone think mentzer should have one? He had a good physique but nothing with him stood out above the rest , especially arnold. and zane was just way too small, ripped yes but small to the point where you couldnt find him on stage.

Ofcourse u r right , well during the time it was no secret that this was a promo or a media maneuver for the upcoming film Conan. Anyone who has seen the hand shaking before the compeition during Pumping Iron betwen arnie and the weiders knows this is always about pushing weider products, Especially the footage of Ben Weider admonishing the judge for voting for Bev Francis in Pumping Iron II the women. Ben knew women werent gonig to buy products or supplements to look like Bev Francis.

ronnie coleman and co have nothing on this guy. NOTHING. they're freaks, they don't look good at all. monster like even. arnold looks classy, handsome, gentleman like. u would approach him, but u would never approach ronnie coleman. modern body builders are just looking to be the biggest. classic body builders were all about proportion and tone. for me classic body builders were the best of the bodybuilders. back then it was no freak show.

and i wanna look just like classic bodybuilders! they were the best n still are! i think bbilders should concentrate more on 80's/90's bodies and turn this mass monster show back into real sport of symetry and beauty :)

@efks180 Ronnie Coleman is not an idiot. I agree he has a physique that doesn't look very good compared to the old time guys. But he is a cool guy, I met him twice. The guys today look like shit, although Jay Cutler looked pretty amazing this past Olympia. But all that doesn't mean Ronnie is an idiot. He did what he had to do to win so don't attack him as person.

yeah Arnold took maybe like a month or 2 to prepare for the competition because he did pull in the last minute but he wanted to compete one last time. he was already lean because of Conan so it helped. you gotta realize that the others arent bitter because Arnold didnt take long to prepare like the others did, i know each and every bodybuilder wants the prize, the glory. they arent competing to place 2nd or 3rd. they want 1st. thats why they are bitter. they train for one day, one single event.

Arnold didnt compete for 5 years, even the cockiest motherfucker in the world would be aprehensive.Add to that the fact that he had only a few weeks to prepare himself. There's a biography of him that says arnold competed in 80 because conan was taking too much time to make and he needed something to keep him on the spotlight
