@MyW0 and? if your really that picky about the damn start up time then keep it always on and always charging and then well see it fry like an egg in a couple of days..
@Anthony883 36 seconds with an SSD is abysmal. Pickiness has nothing to do with it. If you're gonna spend a grand on this and then another hundred on an upgrade, is it so wrong to want a fast boot time?
Hi, im planning to buy this laptop very soon except the i7 version. i was wondering...is 80gbs enough for you? i would like to put an ssd into this machine but the price difference between an 80gb intel ssd and a 120gb corsair ssd is around 100 bucks. im hoping to put music (1-2gb) and a couple of movies (less than 30gb) is this enough space for a couple more games? should i save my money and get the 80gb or should i just suck it up and get the 120gb? btw im 14 so id have to bbsit for the 100lol
@whitekid1324 Actually, you could slide by with 80GB in my opinion. I'm a software engineer, and on my home workstation, with database server, web server, dev software, crysis, COD MW, COD Black Ops, HL2 Episode 2, MS Office 2010, etc installed ... only using ~60GB. I't good practice to store your other data on a separate drive anyway for a tons of reasons, including security and mobility.
@whitekid1324 I personally need at least 300 gigs for my music and games. GTA + Episodes from Liberty City alone are 30 gigs. How they got that onto a DVD for Xbox is beyond my understanding. A regular game collection takes a minimum of 160 gigs.
@kalelg4 I never had a hinge issue with mine :], the only problem with my m11x is that the back lighting on my keyboard started to die after about 2 months of use; I can still see a faint dim red glow coming from the keyboard idk what happened lol XD!
@skaterpunkg7 If you call up alienware and complain and demand a technician they should send one over to fix it, like they did with me. Coz you can't be blamed for a gradual bulb failure :P
I am seriously thinking about getting one. But i need some orientation, Does this laptop is good only for games?, or it is good for working on it also, the thing is that is the only one with such good performance at 11", and i´m looking for a small laptop, for mobility, not a netbook.
@kalelg4 I've been looking/researching it for awhile, and as long as you get good specs on the initial order, it can play games well. But you'll need to order an external DVD drive with it, and update the drivers/BIOS. (You can also overclock, search up a video for how to enable it and Turbo Speed for faster performance for games) It's estimated to get around 2-2.5 hours of gameplay (depending on your settings), with around 5 hours for just working with business/etc. (I believe on low settings).
Nice very quick! I want to get this with the original m11x processor the SU4100, Is it still decent? It will have the su4100 1.3ghz, 4gb ram, nvidia 1gb card, and 160gb hdd. Will it still run games nicely? Thank you!
@funnypanda87 LOL my i7 930 will walk all over that Mac, anyways the point is can you run metro 2033? and crysis on enthusiast. im not an alienware fan either because people that buy prebuilt machines are as dumb as mac users.
@funnypanda97 U cant compare desktops with laptops.. in that case compare ur shitty mac pro to an alienware area 51 or aurora ALX.. Those will beat ur mac down to the ground.. plus they can run the games u cant! ^.^
@HazakyProductions i mean im not gonna let myself get bitched up on youtube by a guy with no brain. if you tought i was serious, sorry but dont get mad like that over a comment rofl.
I just bought my M11x, I plugged in the charger, an orange light came on under the power button, my assumption is that it started charging, then I hit the power button, the keyboard and everything lit up, but nothing came up on the screen, I tried everything I could think of, and still can't get it to come on, I even hit the power button where the keyboard lit up, and then left it for 4 hours to see if it would start.
@Alsobreira No, but it's all fixed now, I called tech support and they had me open up the laptop and gave me step by step instructions to fix it, it was quite a cool experience. :)
@morfin87467 they will be i think at sometime this month updating the processors for the current m11x from core 2 duo to like. i3/i5/i7...which is MUCH faster... so hold on cowboy, because they'll have even BETTER versions of the same thing. ( i want it reaaaally bad too.)
putting an ssd drive in here would really make a difference? does it help with gaming??? i dont know much about hardware im more of a software freak lol
lols...his icons on the bottom bar lag the startup and mine has normal sata isnt much slower, few seconds maybe 8 iguess lol, somehow the laptop rly starts up/reboot very fast
@dabarrett96 I am using a 64gb crucial and yes its much more responsive with a SSD compared to the HDD it shipped with 256gb drives are too expensive now
lol getting one for $300/usd with ssd and hybrid intercore
