  • That's the first one I saw!

  • I remember the first time I saw Red Dwarf was on YTV. I have all 8 seasons on DVD and I don't think that YTV was a good place to air Red Dwarf because they had to take away all the profanity.

  • However, they did have a good rund with the classic series. They ran the classic series from 1989 to 1993 or 94. Plus, the viewership picked up as soon as they got into the Jon Pertwee era in early 1990.

  • The music theme was different than the 1988 one.(Y-T-V)

  • Wooowa . that opening tune for dr who slammed into me like a brick. for a brief second i was a kid again. thanks.

  • You seem to know a lot about this history. I was only about 8-9 in 1988 when I first fell in love with Dr. Who via TVO and YTV. I'd love to pick your brain about the broadcast history etc... Do you use MSN or AIM or any online instant messaging service?

  • How did you know this is when YTV first broadcast Dr. Who? Did they start their broadcast order with the 1st episode from 1963?

  • Yes. Actually, the evening before this they screened a Slyvester McCoy episode in the "New Dr. Who" slot. Mon-Fri reruns started with "An Unearthly Child". Shame because if they had started with Tom Baker the ratings probably wouldn't have crashed.

  • I remember the contest to replace the logo - man, i can't be that old!

  • Awesome Logo. I liked the older ones over the newer ID pictures.

  • This is the station ID I recall the best.

  • That's the intro to the original Doctor Who afterwards . . .

  • Great find, Retrontario!

I'm guessing the next day, they used the day, afternoon, & night system for IDs, right?

  • Yes, that is correct

  • Actually, this account actually has a night version from the first year as well. But I sort of understand what TheDarkOfNight was saying.

  • Of course, & that was a day to night cycle but likewise, the 1989 branding used a main day/afternoon/night cycle into IDs, bumpers, etc.

Also did the 1988 ID alternate between music tracks? I could tell this ID's music sounded way different than the 1988 ID that jaworskij uploaded.
