What was the pucker factor when it flinched in front of you. I had an experience here in Florida one time fishing like you were an I am sure I could have pinched off a 10 penny nail at that moment.
@mainbearing68 I hate the sorry things (gators) The only thing thay are good for is to eat. I would of thrown someting at him to run him off. He looks way too friendly. Someone must of fed him some time. You could of put some fear back in him. If a gator comes out of the water toward me I WILL SHOOT first and ask questions later. I love nature but gators are way too invasive.
I was playing golf in FL.Hit my ball by some water on the sand about 3 ft from the water and there was a gator about 10 ft from me and i walked up and hit the ball and he just stayed there and watch me,I must say i didn't waste any time hitting the ball tho LOL.
Great video Kev. He was waiting for you to pull in another perch. I've accidently caught gators like that one, when they attack and swallowed a fish that I was reeling in. Happened to me twice.
Ah he won't do anything. He's just looking for some fish haha. Unless the gator is over 8 feet, they aren't anything to worry about. Honestly I only worry when they're over 10-12 feet and I'm swimming in the water. They are slow moving and harmless, unless you're a fish or duck haha
My wife and i just spent 3 days at martin dies Jr s.p. and observed several gators all around the park. one around 5 feet long swam right thou the public swimming area because some one brought there dog in the swimming area.
Kevin, my sister has a pond in Waller, Texas. Is there any particular stock fish you would recommend? It's about the size of a football field(without the end zones).
Surely a five foot gator would tackle a human? Here in Australia the Salt Water Crocodile will definately have a go at you from approx 6 feet and up and they grow over 20 feet long. At that size they definitely see people as FOOD.
Gators are a lot less dangerous then people think, reptiles are pretty dumb and slow. Go look up the data, your more likely to get injured driving over there then you are by a gator attack. Just keep little kids away from em, thye might see someone that small as prey.
Choot em!!!!

People say that Florida and Louisiana have the big gators, but the biggest ones I see are always from Texas.

Usually when you see a gator, the fish quite all activity. You might as well go home. Or move a good distance away from the gator.

Gators are not near as aggressive as crocks
Small gators don't see things bigger then them selves as food, that isn't to say a small gator wouldn't try and bite you if you got to close
winnipegdiver 8 months ago
@ZZReptiles
In part you are right smaller Gators don't poss much of a problem
But think they are slow moving is a mistake
On land or in the water they can out run and out swim you on your best day don't kid your self
Growing up in south east Texas I have seen my far share of Alligators, they are not slow at all.

There are some catfish and turtles in it now.

Yeah that gator might not mean anybody any harm but if you brush him the wrong way, he can be mean. And a mean gator is unforgiving.

do you have to have a permit to catch gators there?
12jordanolson 8 months ago
I agree, you shouldn't antagonize them and feeding dangerous animals creates dangerous asscociations in their minds.
