  • does lloyd smile

  • Vocally, his intentional attempts to sound even more thin weedy and abstract tahn he does on the records seem to me influenced by what Bob Dylan does. I love it all anyway.

  • Thrilled to see them play Glastonbury Festival 1992.

  • They were at least as good as this in the mid 70's, especially on that first tour....saw them at Manchester Free Trade Hall with Blondie in support. They scared the shit out of me, they were THAT good. Still one of my top 3 gigs of all time.

  • ....wow!!

  • pure awesomeness

  • I saw Television play live in Manchester, England in 2004. They were on the bill with Patti Smith - Fantastic concert which is one of my Treasured Memories !!!

  • This is in a different key to the original....

The original was in D Mixolydian, this seems to be half a tone lower... C#?

Still a rocking version though, as a guitarist this song is probably my favourite song to jam along with :)

  • sweet jesus, that is one tuneless singing voice. Only for we all remember them and the original album sound, you would not be able to pick out the 'melody' in his voice. Band are as tight as hell though.

  • There isn't a single video where we can hear Tom singing this song correctly ! I wonder how he ever has been able to sing it once correctly in a Studio !!! Maybe singing without playing the guitar helped him a lot.

  • @minooye

Actually, considering that "Marquee Moon" was recorded live in a single take, I think it's just his age. There aren't many videos of him performing it from the 70's / 80's. Actually, I haven't seen a single one.

  • This really isn't that hard to sing :/ Tom struggles a lot.

  • Imagine the look on the face of a young punk rocker if this was played to him as he was told it was a top punk tune. lol.

  • one of RS top 100 albums

  • Oh!

    my gods8)

    thanxalot

    2:14 best take...

  • Shame Tom ain't playing his offset guitars no more. But other than that, good version.

  • i agree, his jazzmaster was his sound

  • I really love the way Tom plays here, especially for the vibrato... He's got old, but (oh, is that really his voice...?) still can make his guitar gently weep, and actually imo, more fluently and flawlessly than he used to.
