"Napoleon the 3rd or whatever..." LMAO- what an idiot.
Also, apparently their revolt would have had nothing to do with casting off oppressors- it was clearly a satanic pact. Robertson is a weapons grade lunatic.
@Gorteenminogue - You found my video on another channel? That's interesting! Hopefully, the person was intending to nominate Robertson rather than me ;)
@lastmondaypast1 - and the problem is that in my culture, having "faith" in these fantasies is seen like moral superiority. To "act Christian" is synonymous with being moral. The blurring of the definitions of "christian" and "moral" makes for lots of problems when people start questioning Christian doctrine, and find themselves OUTSIDE the theological dividing lines. Suddenly, people feel free to call them "immoral," as if, by definition, not being a certain religion means someone is immoral.
Poor Patty Robertson. He doesn't know what he's talking about because he's just too busy with supporting genocide and warlords who defend his precious stone mines & investments in West Africa. That's my Patty - a real humanitarian.
Wreaking mass mayhem and death by way of natural disaster? Visiting wrath upon the descendants of the offenders? That sounds like the god of the Bible to me.
The problem isn't that Pat Robertson doesn't understand the Bible. The problem is that for anyone who believes in the god in question, Robertson's explanation for what happened in Haiti is eminently plausible.
@DrakeDun - I think you've hit on a major problem with biblical literalism - if you _try_ to take the bible literally, all sorts of horrific explanations will do (God did it, Satan did it, it's your fault, it's your parents' fault, etc)... Reading the bible for explanations totally obfuscates rational, evidenced explanations. And therefore, obfuscates how to solve the problems.
I think the one thing that creationists have over "regular" believers is that they understand that the bible either is the inerrant word of god which has to be read literally; or it's not, in which case there's no difference to any fictional text.
That said, it's impossible to really read the bible literally as evidenced by the existence of countless apologist. Heck, you can't even make it past the first chapters of Genesis without having to start making up excuses for blatant contradictions.
@ixiwildflowerixi - exactly - those who claim to be Biblical literalists weren't even paying attention when they *supposedly* read the first two chapters.
You are so right to ask this question. I believe that there are so many Christians because so many of them have not read their Bible fully even once. Every time I try to debate a Christian they tell me that they just do not have the knowledge to debate me, and I ask them why they would accept something that they don't understand? You are right, they are so used to being told what to think it saddens me that religion conforms people to such a humble thoughtless state.
@Elements1818 - I often tell people to "keep reading, keep reading" (their sacred texts) because they will inevitably, if they're reading with their brains engaged and not just with their eyes crossing because of King James english, discover stories and opinions that challenge their own ideas. Hurrah for well informed (and thus well armed) people of any ideology. Especially if that ideology is rational and internally logical and consistent...
Re: KipBond's comment - The word translated as "evil" In Isaiah 45:7 KJV is the Hebrew word 'ra' which is the same word used in Genesis 3 which speaks of moral evil. So yeah, I the LORD create moral evil. Also see Lamentations 3:38 "Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?" Pretty interesting what you find when you actually read the "Good Book".
I loved the quote I heard from one incredulous news anchorwomen: 'Behold Pat Robertson: the unintended consequence to your first amendment.' What an embarrassment to humanity.
@TheraminTrees - Wow - where did you hear that? What a comment! "Embarrassment" is certainly the word. I braced for the worst when I heard that Pat Robertson had made the news... but on the bright side, two of my friends who live in highly religious areas have never even heard of the guy! I think that's improvement.
The 'unintended consequence of your first amendment' quote was from an anchorwoman called Rachel Maddow. I haven't seen a lot of her, so my opinion may be hideously premature, but I'm enjoying a lot of her commentaries so far. And great that those friends of yours have never heard of Pat Robertson — neither had I until this. ;8)
Great video. It's always made me wonder if Pat Roberson and his followers use these ideas as an excuse to not help people (besides what he thinks is praying for their souls, if they even do that much). Currently I have about $3 in my bank account, but once payday hits, I'm donating, since I have no way to physically help.
@Snackar - I believe there was a helpline on the screen part of the time he was talking, but as TheYoungTurks channel pointed out, it would be good to examine how funds are delegated once they get to any particular charity, especially ones that seem so condescending.
Also, Haiti and the DR have different climates: the mountain range separating them blocks many rainclouds causing the DR to have a lusher climate and better agriculture.
@CousinoMacul - thank you so much for posting that! I'll read it more thoroughly for historical context. For those who aren't aware, according to this Caribbean historian, "Pat Robertson's remarks [about Haiti]... did not appear out of thin air." tinyurl[DOT]com/ye5x6sx
@Widgetas - I didn't think about whether Robertson would ever hear critical responses to his strange beliefs... how could he not? Yet again, how could he keep these strange beliefs without insulating himself against logic? Very interesting thoughts.
well done, great job religiousfiction, that`s the true. We must help these people not condemning them with stupid arguments and invented to keep people into believing these stories supernatural

Nice video! There's also this verse:
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.
... even better in the KJV:
"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
