  • I hate it when people ask you, "What sport do you play?"

    I say, "I do gymnastics."

They say, "Pshaw, that's not a sport!!"

Gosh, I don't know how many times I've been injured, currently I have a lump on my head, bruises all over my knee, and an over stretched tendon and muscle strain :(

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore ive been riding horses for 10 years and yeah i love it obv but you know what? gymnstics is way harder and more dangerous. id rather be bucked at a wall again than fly off bars or flip off a beam. YES horseback riding is super dangerous and YES its hard when you get advanced but in my opinion in gymnastics you get hurt way more than horseback riding

  • when we fall...... we laugh. its pretty funny actually

  • This video is great, my daughter is training as an Elite Gymnast. She is 7 years old and trains for 23 hours a week. Nothing deters her, she is very determined, her coach who she has been with since August 2011 today and said to her "She is very pleased with her progress and its going to get tougher after the new year and was she up to it?" She did not hesitate that she was!

It quite scary, but all we do is support her through the good and bad parts!

  • @RosieRedBlackwell i agree with you.

  • Comment removed

  • @latieflover08 u r confusing me i am a gymnast im not talking trash about it i am say gymnastics is way harder than most sports and why watch this video and comment about how it not very hard if this video is to show people how hard it really is and wht is behind all of the glory so everyone talking trash about gymnastics better shut up and stop it cause we are stronger than you and take pride in wht we do

IF GYMNASTICS WERE EASY IT WOULD BE CALLED FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gymnastics isnt really this sad i have been it six years and cried once at meet

  • @RosieRedBlackwell No problem;)+i'm glad it did,heheheh;

  • @RosieRedBlackwell how would i not know because i have done both and gymnastics is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy harder you try doing gymnastics everyday of your life and is you forget your grips you keep practicing until you peel 10 times or so and if you split the beam you have to get up and keep doing the same skill over and over and the friends that you have had over all theese years begin to quit and there is no other way you can see them

  • i did gymnastics for 11 years and i quit 2 days before i was supposte to compete at the level 8 regionals!! :( BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i would have never quit! :"(

  • @sanderson0217 im competing level 8 this year o:

  • gymnastics mean the world to me. i love it but i am only 14 and already 5ft7. there is no hope for me. i just learned how to do a roundoff back handspring and i want to do it for the rest of my life.

  • All of this is true this sport can be hard and sometimes even deadly you have to be very strong.

  • you say it looks like child abuse well if u like it enough its not its something us gymnasts enjoy. and we can take a little pain so its NOT child abuse. i take it u cant take a little crying. u shouldnt be commenting negative things u should be commenting positive. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT VIDEO! GOOD JOB ON IT!

  • looks like child abuse to me.

  • @celticbobb well at least they are trying and doing something they enjoy i try just as hard as them but in ice skating and i know how they feel sometimes u just feel like screaming

  • bruce lee done a bit of both thats why he was a complete athlete, i love exercise and sports natural cure for depression!

  • @kingdaleclarke Whenever I am sad or angry I do gymnastics. It always seems to calm me down and make me feel better.

  • once you start competing in a professional level i do believe that bodybuilding is more stressful to the body, to the point where i feel its very unhealthy. and when both athlete reach the age of 80 i feel that the person who did gymnastic is more healthier than the person who did bodybuilding.

  • i like lifting heavy. that takes a lot of concentration. i just feel that the amount of concentration you need to be a gymnist takes a lot more. its much easier for an average person to take up weight training than gymnastic. but thats just my opinion.

  • i been lifting weights for years, never done gym, but i know how to breakdance and do some backflips. both are hard. but i must say, gymnastic is a lot harder. as you get older i notice you can maintain your strength, but your reflex, balance and stamina kinda goes away. and thats what you need to do gymnastic. ive seen a lot of 40 plus year old still doing good bodybuilding, but i cant say the same with gymnastic. when you get old, all you can do are cartwheels.

  • I love gymnastics so much it is my fav sport i am a level 4 gymnast and i can do lots it hurts and is dangerous but i don't care i love it too much

  • @kaitlynlovelyful you go girl

  • i hate when people say gymnastics isnt a real sport. just because it doesnt involve a ball, or a group of guys tackling each other doesnt mean its not a real sport! GYMNASTICS IS A FRICKEN' HARD SPORT! i did it and ive done other sports aswell and nothing compares to the stress and pain that gymnastics caused. i dont have anything against other sports, just people who say gymnastics isnt a sport.

    *deep breath* rant over.

  • What's up with all the weird comments

  • I love gymnastic

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Compare sitting/standing on a horse's back, compared to flipping through the air and landing on a 4 inch wooden plank 4 feet in the air. You tell me what sounds harder. and just out of curiousity, how much do you guys practice in a week?

  • Aside from the stupid horse racing comments very nice video!

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore also gymnasts have to be very physically fit, flexible, graceful, powerful, and strong. Obviously you need some of these qualities for horse riding/racing but not to the extent that it is needed for gymnastics. To settle the debate according to ESPN's list boxing is the hardest sport, gymnastics is 7, and horse racing is 50. Bottom line however gymnastics is still harder than horse racing enough said. =]

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore if you're a gymnast then why are you knocking on the sport there is no easy sport and all sports have a danger aspect but to come to a gymnastics video and proclain your opinion about how difficult horseback riding is is just rude. I'm not saying horseback riding is easy or anything and yes I have ridden horses many times and I understand the difficulty and the trust you have to have in the animal. Gymnastics however entails a whole different set of difficulties and fears and

  • in gumnastics it's like ,

the more you get hurt, the better because once you feel the pain your not scared to take it again, and after loads of inguries your body gets use to it., and that's how flexibily comes, but some people are gifted with that flexibilty so they don't have to try AS hard ;) good luck to all the gymnasters who are following there dreams. Never give up not matter what any1 tells you, GO FOR IT!

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore I figured! lol its alrightt! :P

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore OMG you are so stupid you relize were talking about the hardest sport not the most dangerous and horse ridding isnt that hard you sit on a horse and pull the reins

  • @lain10andju9dancing like it hahahahahahahahaha

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore I never said she wasn't going to stop. I just said it was going to be exciting when she was back in the Olympics.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Well yeah....everybody stops at one point

  • Letsflyoncemore- u and ur friend need to stop

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore she still loves the sport and was on the world championship team but she didn't feel up to their standards. But she is going to be in the 2012 Summer Olympics. I found out at newsfeed . time . com. Just delete the spaces because it wouldn't let me give you the real link.

  • My friend Maya was good enough to be an olympic gymnast, just not old enough. She quit as it was 37hrs a week and she was only 12.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore I think we are filling up this videos comment!! :P haha

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Well if you don't go to the hospital then the injuries probably arn't very fatal. If it was fatal no matter what wouldn't you go to the hospital so you don't hurt yourself? Just because the doctor says you shouldn't do something doesn't mean you have to listen to them(lol:P). Yes it would hurt getting trampled my an animal but there are a lot more ways to get hurt in gymnastics and cheerleading.I mean in cheerleading they had to make a stunt illegal because it killed a lot girls

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore I did some research 26,600 people 6-17 are treated annually for gymnastics-related injuries.Horseback riding has 73,576. So you were right. But the most injuries that happen yearly are from basketball with 512,213. How does that makes sense.I don't know lol! Also there are 103 fatal, disabling or serious injuries among girl high school athletes with the majority of 67 being cheerleading. So basketball has the most and cheerleading has the worst

  • gymnastics is the hardest sport ever i do it and have had so many injuries but im carrying on, i love it so much :) xx

  • @gymnastgurlgeorgii it isnt the hardest sport, bodybuilding is i do weight training okay and its much harder than what you weak ass gymnast do all you do is some pullups and sit ups we lift like a mad man

  • @kingdaleclarke hey, that was rude they try hard and weight training is not on the olimics now is it.....no i dont think so

  • @katiedid0517 so just because it aint in the olympics doesnt mean you dont have to be in amazing serious olympian shape to be able to lift like we do we smash our faces with protein and have low voices because were tough gymnasts is for girls.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore And gymnastics has a higher death rate then horseback riding. And lots more accidents. To me the most dangerous sports are gymnastics, rugby, boxing and horseback riding.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Actually, when gymnastics was first made it was used for military training which does show that it is very hard. You have to have lots of body strength, balance and confidence.Horseback riding has deaths in falling.Gymnastics has deaths in more then that.Yeah you can fall and kill yourself but coaches try to make a gymnast as perfect as possible which causes eating disorders or pushing yourself so hard that your body just can't take it(which usually leads to falls).

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Exactly! But some make comebacks like Nastia Luikin! Which is going to be exciting:):)

  • Comment removed

  • Shawn Johnson has and always will be my idel and my dream is to be in the olympics

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore I agree with your statement!!

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore she did have a choice and she made hers! If disappointing millions of little gymnast is the world is a choice she made well fine and fuck her.... HAHA U SPELLED MAYBE WRONG

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Yeah but at least if that happens, you could say it wasn't necessarily your fault, whereas in gymnastics, you're on your own. Do you know how much pressure and frustration there is when you know the only reason you are failing is because of yourself? Clearly not if you're comparing a sport that requires 2 beings compared to 1: a reason why its so hard . Also, if you're talking about the dangers (that's how you spell it btw) have you seen how fast gymasts have to run for vaults?

  • Who is the girl at 2:48 to 2:50??

  • @IndySchoolGymnasts her name is Shawn Johnson . and she's amazing.

  • @posh913 oohh.... i didn't think that was Shawn Johnson.... she didn't look like Shawn to me.

  • looks horridd

  • check out my gymnastics channel :D

  • I HATE NASTIA SHE QUIT!!!!! SHE WAS MY ROLE MODLE!!!

  • @valere10 so.... you hate your role model? besides she was done. it was her bodys choice

  • @valere10 Nastia Luikin? Really? That's sad. She was great!

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore totally riding a trained horse is the hardest sport in the world its not hard as flipping ten or more feet in the air the falling on your neck and having to get up and do conditining and train more and in horse ridding you wear a helmit you dont wear on

  • @lain10andju9dancing one in gymnastics

  • That fall at 3:02 was scary

  • @ Leysflyoncemore ; gymnastics probably is the hardest sport in the world . I have tried Many sports , gymnastics is by far the hardest . And , there's a difference between difficulty and danger . You say that gymnastics isn't the hardest sport , and then you start talking about dangers ? ..

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore i have looked it up it is

  • i wanna fainly make it to the Olympic games!

  • "Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter"

  • hahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

  • I Blame The Parents.

  • wow your idiotic its just a you tube video!

  • I Change My Mind I Dont Want To Be A Gymnast

  • @Bon2994 you can be a gymnast. this video was showing all the losers who think gymnastics was a piece of cake. they were proving them wrong. don't let this video stop your dreams. gymnastics is hard work and yes it can be bad but, you will have the moments were its great. have you ever seen Olympic gymnastics and when you see the winners face when they call them. someday that could be you if you put your heart towards it. dont let this video stop your dreams of wanting to be a gymnast. please :)

  • @HelloMyNameIsAnnie17 I don't know of anyone who actually thinks gymnastics is easy.

  • im no gymnast olympian but i do gymnastics it may be hard but these people push you hard but still they are trying to help you live the dream and that training only starts when your about to go for nationals but what i think is gymnastics may be hard but you work hard for what you want just have fun when your practising and during nationals or competition or just in public still have fun just focus on gymnastics a little more so dont just stop gymnatsics because of this video live your dream

  • I like Shawn Jonson she is so good and she is really strong and mucselly I am 9!

  • they have great skill...but if it causes you such pain as some of these girls are feeling crying so hard maybe they shouldn't been pushed so hard so much :/ im not a gymnast so maybe I just dont understand but if you aren't enoying something, dont do it.

  • @Mmazrocks13 its tough to understand if you arent a gymnast. gymnastics is causing me to have a permanet back injury that will only get worse and if it gets too bad i will have to give it up. its getting so bad that i am only 13 and i cannot stand for more than about 15 minutes with out it hurting. but i dont like to think about it. but still even though im hurting myself, i still do it because i love it.

  • great

  • This really makes you re-think your definition of the word "gymnast"

  • what is the name of this song???

  • I really want to do competitions and become a famous gymnast, but I just saw a video of about 10 people that died or got really hurt. I think I'll just stick with gymnastics for fun... :(

  • for all ppl in gymnastics level won or dare devil or harder u should no ur always a gymnast no matter how much u mess up ur still a gymnast for doing it even if ur not in it ur always gonna be a gymnast and all the ppl who read this comment im gonna be in gymnastics this year in 2010 and 2011 because it 2010 buy in the summer in be in gymnastics so witch me luck and remember ur always a gymnast no matter wat age or how much times u mess up u just gotta belive in ur self and wish me luck

  • Its not hard if you really love it

  • @person13600

I beg to differ. Because it is hard. Doing what you love still takes strength and determination. I love the sport, but its hard and when you train something over and over but can't quite get it... its hard. It puts such an emotional toll on your mind and there are days I just wanna give up. And in a competition; its like your being told your not good enough. It is hard, even if you love it.

  • ITS "ONCE I HAD A DREAM THAT I WENT TO THE OLYMPICS AND I DID REALLY WELL

  • @7xVideoGirlx7 once I had a dream and I went to the olympics and I was doing really well * :)

  • die van van 2.59 doet pijn mij ook een keertje gebeurt

  • dang i would shit my pants if i could do half the stuff they do

  • is the second girl shawn johnson?

  • It's a hard life trust me. Specially when you're 8 and you have to do all those backflips and other things that normal people can't even imaigine to be performed.

  • @karlica9407 yeah it is i have to agree with you

  • @karlica9407 yeah it is i have to agree with you it is especialy when you have a really bad sprained ankel

  • @karlica9407 yeah- and the coaches treat you like you're an adult, but you're just a kid.- Been there done that. But I miss gymnastics a lot, so I won't complain. =)

  • whats the songs its so good!

  • somebody asked y we dont just give up . we dont give up because we have goals and we will stop at nothing until we reach them . we r determined to reach our goals and we work as hard as we can atleast 5 days a weeek .

  • what is that skill called from 3:34 to 3:36

  • Why dont they just quit.

  • @joshuakeller40 Quit ? Give it up ? run away ?

Only weak People like You and Me would act this Way. Those Girls have Ambitions, they Cry to let off some Steam and then they do it again until it's perfect.

  • i am a rhythamics gymnast and i personally think it IS easyer. i am at the nationals so i know what it is about!

  • why do they do it for competition? surely they should do it for the love of the sport. liek crying because they cant do something? silly :S

  • @nintendocrew Im pretty sure they cry cause they try over and over and over again and cant land the trick or do what they have been trying so hard to do.. honestly i would be balling my eyes out if i couldnt get the trick perfect.

  • @JennyJaquelineMR But as i do parkour, you could consider a link, i don't cry if i cant do something.. i do something i can do, if ur crying ur obviously upset, what good is a sport that upsets you, for me parkour does the complete oposite. Meh i guess they are two different things

  • subscribe to me please...Im a gymnast and I would love if I got more subscribers please♥

    PS GREAT VIDEO! (=

  • @MegaRachelWhite look if you can tell me some bit of a lyric i can find the name of the song. mY englisk is not good so i can't do alone thanks.

  • whats the song?

  • what's the song?

  • i do gymnastics. im very good at i ttoo. i am sore the next day after pracrtice. but its fun. i dont think its too late to join gymnastics again if ur fifteen or sixteen. in china and like japan they train like really hard. i feel bad for them

  • this show alot about gymnastics tht people dont see

  • this is so true, and I wished I were a gymnast, but I'm pretty scared now and my country has no courses :(

  • It's hard to be a champion..........All this girls are champions!!!

  • I am 15 (almost 16) I used to do gymnastics but had to drop out because I broke my ankle. I am flexible and strong and have natural talent fir this sport. When I drupes out I was begining to learn this stuff but am I too old to join again?

  • @ilovesportsism no, I think you can live your dream no matter what age you are ;)

  • @ilovesportsism I guess you could cause you're flexible. I've always wanted to be one, but I'm almost 15 and in my country there are no gymnastics. But I do ballet and would love to get stronger and more flexible. Any gymnastics tips? I'd really appreciate them, please

  • @KalexCullen since you do ballet you are already strong and flexible, i would try doing frontflips backflips handsprings and twists on a trampoline or grass. once you got that down you could join a cheer squad or somethin that involves tumbling.

to gain more strength and flexibility, try yoga. yoga focusus on these two things

  • @show4money thanks!

  • i thought my gymnastic teacher was mean streatchin us until we crry and handstand against the wall for 10 mins but i guess not i am realy gonna try my best on wednesday :)

  • @ellycoolellym ouch :( Which stretches did he get you to do and for how long? and that handstant for 10 mins?! I can't even stand for 30 secs! (I'm not a gymnast) you must be strong! how old are you?

  • @KalexCullen 12 its a girl dunno none of then just like when we get us splits streth on the bench its down to the floor kills

  • @ellycoolellym 10 mins!! Is you're coach on crack?!?!

  • that video about not always happy endings in gymnastics really creeps me out thinking i could die and i was gonna take gymnastics

  • @3krazyme i kno rite?? tht vid rlly makes me wanna quit.... but u dont rlly think about it wen ur acually doing it....

  • this is sooo true

  • daamn at 3:01

  • i here you all i started when i was 5 and went until i was 11 i barely remember doing anything but gymnastics, you practicaly have to give up your childhood. i wanted to quit when i was 9, but my mom wouldnt let me. I dont think she understood the mental toll it takes on you. also the physical toll seriously i messed up my heels, ankle, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, and my lower back because i put so much strain on them. but now sometimes i wish i hadn't quit

  • emilygotchalk

sometimes they don't have a choice

    sometimes their parents make them
