There definitely is something wrong with the world, we billions of citizens are allowing our planet and way of life to be controlled in an unhealthy way. There is absolutely no reason why every person on the planet can have at least a safe and decent way of life. Our entire system is being controlled by money and the greedy thieves of wall-street. There are very easily obtainable solutions for most of our problems today, but it is our elected officials who stop us from obtaining anything at all.
While it's true China has a lot of cleaning up to do, it's not like we're saints in America. Stop acting like we're so clean and responsible. We ship our electronic waste to China! People are more concerned with driving their Suburbans and having an easy, convenient lifestyle rather than taking responsibility for this. It's nobody's fault but our own. I'm guilty of it, and I'm sure the majority of all of you are too. Though we may not deal with this consequences, our children will.

What do I suggest? That people stop using the per capita excuse to not do anything and say hey my per capita is a lot lower then the US but I'm not going to use that as a justification for not taking the initiative to do our part to reduce the pollution we create as much as we can. Just because the US doesn't, doesn't mean other countries should do the same. That isn't a statement saying what the US is doing is "ok/right/fair" by the way.
And I suggest that people stop using the argument "hey china is polluting the most in terms of total, so even though each of us north americans make more per person and even though china is just trying to live as well as we do, we're just gonna point our fingers at china and see them as the bad guys." People should stop using the total excuse as well.
When looking at what affects nature, you have to see the human side of it cuz it's humans that are doing it. You can't just say "decrese the total." That's such a basic way to look at it and it solves nothing and doesn't say what the root of the problem is, or why ppl do what they do. You have to ask WHY people do it and that involves looking at the human side and per capita. That's the only way to eventually come up with a HUMAN solution that will decrease the total.
And again: the chinese want to live as well as we do. As long as we keep consuming so much, the rest of the world will follow. Until we find a way to consume less, don't expect each chinese or indian to consume less. That's why per capita is important: cuz if one person makes alot per capita everyone will follow and the TOTAL will be huge.
In end when it comes to pollution a total is what matters not per capita. No one is denying neither am I the human side/per capita is important but like I said in the end when it comes to pollution, Earth doesn't care about a per capita it only cares about a threshold or total. When looking at what affects nature, you have to see the human side of it cuz it's humans that are doing it. You can't just say "decrese the total." That's such a basic way to look at it and it solves nothing and doesn't say what the root of the problem is, or why ppl do what they do. You have to ask WHY people do it and that involves looking at the human side and per capita. That's the only way to eventually come up with a HUMAN solution that will decrease the total.

Until we find a way to consume less, don't expect each chinese or indian to consume less. That's why per capita is important: cuz if one person makes alot per capita everyone will follow and the TOTAL will be huge.

In end when it comes to pollution a total is what matters not per capita. No one is denying neither am I the human side/per capita is important but like I said in the end when it comes to pollution, Earth doesn't care about a per capita it only cares about a threshold or total. I think china is more justified in polluting a lake than the industrialized countries. China is trying to pull many people out of poverty which takes many resources for 1.3 billion. I feel the industrialized countries just keep polluting to make more money than they need.
I think if the industrialized countries found more methods/technologies to stay developed AND environmentally friendly they could pass that onto developing countries. I do agree that everyone needs to do their part.

Just because someone is more justified doesn't they mean they should. China's land is being destroyed by their own polluion, you see in the video their farm land are starting to become toxic, pulling many people out of poverty is a good thing but there are different means in attaining that goal and I agree that with sheer number of people it will take many resources. But if they keep going on this path their country that was once beutiful will become nothing but a toxic desert in the future.

One thing all nations could do right now is use Fluorescent Light Bulbs in all places lights are used. Sadly a program hasn't been developed on a national scale in america to recycle the very small amounts of mercury they contain. There are facilities for them but no national program.

China is the direct cause of the pollution, but the U.S. is the indirect cause. We buy most of the shit they make in China. If we stop buying the shit, their production will decrease and so will the pollution. It's really our fault. We outsourced the production to them for the cheap labor and so we wouldn't have to see how much pollution WE are causing.
