  • it's music!!!! simply.... do you like it or don't.... I FEEL NICE TO HEAR THIS AMASING SONG

  • tool clone..

  • 8 people support David.

  • Kinda reminds me of a Korn mix with Tool tbh

  • i ve found the drum patterns to this song ... and the time signature is a constant change between 7/4 and 6/4

  • 4:20 when i first heard that, i experienced the most powerful orgasm ever.

  • @pissonmydubstep same here

  • I don't think this bass is "filthy" because i'm not a 13 year old girl who is listening to Skrillex. This bass is outstanding. Good song, thanks for the post.

  • @hallorand9 nah dude.. this bass is filthy.. or dirty, it's the tone. It doesn't matter if it's Skrillex, a band is independent from a tone.

  • Think I've found a good band here.

  • Sounds like 12/8 (5/8 followed by 7/8)

  • The guitar at 3:02 gets me everytime.........

  • That time signature could rip the fabric of time and space O.O

  • what the fuck is the time signature in this song hahahahaha

  • Dat time signature.

  • luv thiz !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Odd meters are always cool cause' most of the time people just listen to 4/4 meter.. meaning... if it's new for your ear, it'd sound weird and cool till u get use to it. I wanna listen to next Karnivool album...

  • anyone think some one directing a horror movie should hire the bass player to do the movies theme song

  • They played this song tonight on my local rock station's "cage match". Definitely was digging it! And apparently so were most people listening. It beat out the defending champ Staind's Eyes Wide Open. Love the bass!

  • @P1Wookie

People still listen to staind where you live?

  • That time signature just kicked me in the face when I first heard it.

  • Comment removed

  • Damning Well without any specific riff, somehow - I like it.

  • and that bass line hit the brown note for me.

    IN AN AWESOME WAY!!!

  • Misha "Bulb" Mansoor brought me here.

  • thank god my friend told me about this band I've really been missing out! such an awesome band every song is gold.

  • I really love the lyrics and music from this album!!! So i bought a bottle of Australian wine just to taste a bit of that land i have never been to......I'm not sure I'll ever be the same!

  • 3 bars 7/4 and then a 6/4 but that is just a 27/4 pattren. (before hate comment, bar is not a pattren.)

  • It's definitely worth hearing Delusion Twin if you dig Themata.. they're from Brisbane too, I think.. best fucking band no doubt

  • @ktrel54 Fair sure they're from Perth

  • @Kilenz94 Shit I didn't know that - Australia then at least

  • uıɐƃɐ ʎɐqǝ ɯoɹɟ pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ƃuıʎnq ɹǝʌǝu ɯɐ ı

  • @OrwellInvasion lol I don't know why but i find your comment rather amusing. Also, Karnivool is frickin sweet!

  • @OrwellInvasion lmao wtf i thought that was like hebrew or something at first

  • @OrwellInvasion ...Funniest Youtube reply in the history of the world.....

  • @OrwellInvasion BAHAHAHA you sir are a funny person!

  • @OrwellInvasion yeah cause thats so original... -_-

  • @OrwellInvasion are u sure you don´t have it on drunk mode ? or maybe youve just spilled too much wine on your keypad...i know on mine i have, trust me i am writing this in spanish, dont know whats going on here

  • @OrwellInvasion

    (-: ˙zǝuɐqı sƃuıɹʇs 5 ɐ ʇǝƃ plnoɥs noʎ

  • these guys are so awesome that i dont even want to learn their songs to keep the mysterious factor high

  • @ilrory0401 I totally think the same mate :)

  • @ilrory0401 I gave in and got their album. The only thing I can say is damn. EVERYTHING is as good as this.

  • @Ludwikia both albums are amazing!! i recommend birds of tokyo as well, its the lead singer's new band. theyre not the same style at all, but the lyrics and melodies are amazing. enjoy!!

  • no im sorry this bad is to good they cheating coz Jesus can't form a band with Chuck Norris an say they human

  • reminds me of Tool!

  • @jasonhenrybarry I agree, it sounds so much like Tool, which is a good thing for sure !

  • Love this freakin song!!!!

I found this song surfing through Direct TV music channels. xD

  • Saw 3D sent me here!

  • The bass tone here is just..amazing.

  • great job guys , keep it up...

  • A guy I drum with turned me onto these guys. After Oceansize split up I was worried how long it would take before I could find a band I was excited about new releases coming from....glad I found out about these guys... great art.

  • I cannot count the time signature of this band to save my life!

  • The ending = SO EPIC :D

  • Why won't you make them available on mobile so we could share them with the world even when not home? :)

  • the bass in this song is filthy... reminds me of the tone in most Rush songs lol.

  • @Kreat0r1 sooo truee.. the best bass tone i think

  • @Kreat0r1 this song makes me want to buy a new bass.

  • @Kreat0r1 and that is very good

  • Can't get enough of this tune.

  • Check us out, new track up! Influences from Tool, Alter Bridge, Karnivool, Mastodon, Dead letter Circus, HIM etc...

  • JIZZ IN MY PANTS !

  • I do believe there is a correlation between string instruments and math . Most of my friends that play the guitar well pick up math quite easily, you either have the ability or you don't. That being said, you can't teach an ass clown new tricks.

  • @charvel410 Thats because guitars (well the early versions of them) were first invented in greece for usage as 'calculators' in a way. Hard to explain, but the correllation of notes to numbers was a lot stronger back then. Some people seem to inherit musical ability and with that, mathematical ability. From my experience.

  • @lokeynot Really? From my experience, people who develop/exhibit musical interest or ability tend to have difficulty with Mathematics. Just something I noticed.

  • @ktrel54 I guess it differs, I mean I have developed a wide range of instrumental knowledge and ability but I wouldn't say I find difficulty in mathematics. And some people I know are the same as me. Although I have one friend who is a bass guitarist and he does find himself unable to grasp math as well as some others have.

  • @ktrel54

Odd though because music is numbers,, music must just be wired to a slightly different part of the 'maths' part of our brains..

  • @TghIII

music is much more than math my friend !!!

  • @ktrel54 I've noticed exactly the opposite, actually. Music is math, in the most basic sense.

  • Is anybody even listening to this masterpiece or are you all going to try and convince other people to think like you think? Focus on the overwhelming power of this band, damn it.

  • you want a unique time sig? look up Umbra from the same album XD

oh and what is it about this song that makes me love it so much?

  • what a masterpiece :)

  • I think this IS similar to Tool, not in their sound but in the intelligence of their songwriting. I just now heard of this band and I love it!

  • Haha dude I wrote a song (more of just a riff) that goes from 1 bar of 7/8 to 1 of 4/4 to another of 7/8 and then to a bar of 9/8... and it didn't sound to bad.

  • I guess you know your favorite band when you go on youtube to look for new music and always end up commenting on the same songs... DAMMIT, I DID IT AGAIN!

  • people think to much about things that doesn't matter if you listen to music, like math.... i mean,, wtf?! just enjoy this awsome music! :D

  • @XxJaartjuhxX So you're saying that it's completely unimportant to think about mathematics in regard to music or anything for that matter? You just gave me some serious lulz dude. Music of this sort is written for the analytical mind, and yes, it has A LOT to do with math. As does everything in the universe.

  • @TheDobligator i don't say that its unimportant, i just think that you should enjoy the music more, and that you shouldn't think about it to much. its just that i have dyscalculia, so numbers and math don't mean annything to me. i just love the mucic and the lyrics (i think that important, they always sing about things that matter...) and thats what i like about it, the good music, not math or annything

  • @XxJaartjuhxX Have you ever taken into consideration that everything is applied mathematics. I've never heard of such a disorder as dyscalculia, but I have trouble believing that it could possibly impair you from appreciating or finding meaning in anything, much less mathematics. The reason as to WHY the music sounds so good can be analyzed and simplified into mathematics.

  • @TheDobligator you can sound like you are a smart guy and stuff, and you probably are. but i don't care,, i don't care that the world is about math or something. i just want to listen to awsome music, i don't want to have useless discussions. and its probably true that the world is all about math, but that doenst mean that i can understand math. its only something made up by humans. and i think you're right about tool. the music doesn't sound the same, theire intelligence is the same.

  • @XxJaartjuhxX Okay first of all, wouldn't you want to think about WHY it sounds so awesome? Secondly, discussions of that sort are far from useless. Thirdly, you should work to understand mathematics. It's the most important concept we know, and finally, (this is where you're really wrong) humans did not make math. We articulated it and made numbers to communicate it but it ultimately and primarily exists as a part of nature. We studied it because it is the only system we can call true ...

  • @XxJaartjuhxX ... (continued) because it isn't material or anything of the sort. It's just logic. That's the beauty of it: that it's completely true. That's not something you can say about many other things. Also, though I respect the amount of intelligence Karnivool puts into its music, I don't think it quite compares to Tool, probably because I just haven't listened to Karnivool nearly as much as Tool.

  • @TheDobligator sorry, i just don't care :) maby you try to convince me, but it doesn't work. i hate math, and i don't have to know WHY this music is so awsome, i just KNOW that this music is awsome. i don't want to know how they make it, i dont have to make it, so why would i care? i only want to listen. you have a lot of stuff to think about, but im a 15 year old girl, so i don't care. i have lots of other things to worry about. why math is important isn't one of those :) i just want to listen

  • @XxJaartjuhxX I'm a 15-year-old boy and this is one of the things I strongly care about. It's not that I want to teach you or anything like that. It's just that I'm really bothered by the fact that you could actually hate math. I understand the tedium of homework and repetitive problems on itgiven by math CLASSES can be very dislikable, but mathematics itself is just truth. Logic is used for truth and math is logic articulated into theoretical systems. What's not to love about that?

  • @TheDobligator sorry i just don't care! its like you truly want to convince me, but it just doesn't work.... i can say all kinds of things back to you but this discussion is like forever,, so lets stop now. i don't care for math, and im not going to, maby i care when i have nothing to worry about and think about stuff like that. i have all kinds of things to think about, and math isn't one of those things. i really like philosophy, but only when its about words, not numbers wich i dun understand

  • @XxJaartjuhxX I really like philosophy too! That's what brought me to a love of mathematics! Now that I know that you do as well I really strongly suggest that you study logic and its pertinence to the universe. I see that you'd like to end this conversation so I'll finish with that. All I want to say is that everything is applied mathematics. Acknowledging and looking deeper into that should help your philosophical reasoning.

  • @TheDobligator haha oke tanx, i will lean :P

  • That album art is sooooo alternative! haha Great band, great polyrhythms in this song. Love it

  • ive been trying to like these guys cuz im a big fan of ian kenny, but ive been failing. however, this song could change that... its pretty amazing

  • Tool fan 101. If you hear a band that uses time signature changes, immediately accuse them of being a tool rip off. (side note) Make sure to ignore the fact that King Crimson is a huge influence on TooL. Step 2. Declare that Maynard is the end all be all rock singer and that no one, in ANY band can touch him and that he can do no wrong. (side note) Make sure to ignore the fact that maynard has lost his ability over the years. Step 3. Compare Danny Carey to Joey Jordison daily!

  • @theplanet1985 Tool is my favorite band and I don't think these guys are a rip off at all. Sure they're similar (not in sound but in musical intelligence), but I'm just really glad to see another band that's creative with it as opposed to EVERYONE FUCKING ELSE. Secondly, Maynard still has a pretty great voice haha. Lastly, Joey Jordison can't even hold a candle up to Danny Carey. Not just his skill but the way he plays. Way too much cymbol and double bass it just doesn't sound too good.

  • @TheDobligator well then you arent a TRUE TooLfan! nah im just kidding. I made that comment bout maynard when i heard some early clips of the beginning APC gigs. But he seems to be back in shape from what i've seen lately.

  • @theplanet1985 Oh. Yeah I saw them in '09 and he sounded pretty good.

  • ...maynard est le proffesseur d'une classe d'école dont kenny est l'un de ses meilleurs etudiants......sinon le meilleur!....

  • Shut the fuck up and get some vool up ya.

  • Take off the gay pause at the start -___- ruins the intro.

  • @ZenkaitheSlasher never new about it sorry. how do i get rid of it...its...terrible

  • @JTbassist09 D'= IDK!! WE MUST FIND OUT!!

  • @JTbassist09 go to "my videos" go to this one and select annotations and there is an accidental pause annotation in there...or people can just turn off annotations before the video and get over it XD

  • @JTbassist09 DUDE YOU FIXED IT!!! LEGEND STATUS

  • @JTbassist09 download Audacity......freeware sound file editing software.

  • @JTbassist09 Audacity. Get it. :)

  • Hey, would you rather buy music? Quit yur bitchin n get in the kitchin.

  • Listen to the mars volta's goliath

  • qué gran temazo y qué gran banda acabo de descubrir! hay música en el siglo XXI...

  • 4:21...I'm morbidly obese, but i'm not that heavy...

  • Simillar to Porcupine tree to me.

  • Band from my home town and I haven't seen them yet. I need to get out more often. Sound a bit like Tool. Which is great.

  • @LiamXaoh

That was my thought too - voice reminds me of Maynard almost creepily... I love it!

  • @rahma4 no way, this guy cannot deliver like Maynard....instead of getting angry he just sings higher

  • @seean07 dude totally different singer, both have there strengths..... love to see maynard hit the higher register like Kenny, I love both bands this is just another attempt at the tool vs vool argument.... I am not trying to compare the two just listen and enjoy both bands for what they are..... fucking amazing

  • @dethra SO true man! this band is so decent but their engineer is amazing

  • good clean mixed song but not very innovative.

  • can people not just enjoy the song, karnivool wrote the song for them and their followers.

  • Just Sense The Beauty My Friends..Just Sense It..Peace..

  • Sounds a lot like tool good band to mimic good song!!

  • Not entirely math just the time sigs are math. If you want real math then listen to Boulez, Messaien and stockhausen..that's all preconcieved math out but you find it vitually unlistenable. A bit of both for me Carry on Karnivool!

  • klearlykahmerican: Spot on. They dont have a Genre, they're just Karnivool.

Kinda like The Cat Empire, you just cant classify them in a genre, they are their own sound.

  • SAW 3D

  • Is it just me or can this group not fit into any category of music completely? Maybe I am just biased because they are my favorite band, but I don't know. They are too creative for modern rock, too big-sounding for alternative, only FUSED with jazz, funky, pop-style singing sometimes, metal sounds, riffs, and tones, and orchestral (classical) background music. The rest is pure original music. I love this band to death, and they deserve more recognition. I will continue to be amazed by myself :(

  • Something can't be "very unique". Unique means one of a kind. How can something be very one of a kind. That's like the lights being a little bit off versus very off. Or someone being very dead versus a little dead. All hail the nammar grazi

  • this band is just the sex

  • @luzmilacareballi sex is overrated, this, is not. it is underrated!

  • @luzmilacareballi its Ian Kenny that adds the orgams

  • 1:52 Best F^^^ing vocals ever..

  • 03:02 guitar bit just killed me

  • Truly unique and I love it. AHH :D

  • Music is language.

  • Wow!! Good stuff!! I linked here from a Dead Letter Circus video... Aussies are kicking out some amazing music these days!!!

  • Finally something new (to me) so I can listen to hours and hours......beautiful vocals!

  • @lekant1 You suck .. Ian kenny is one of the best rock vocals of the moment ..

  • @lekant1 I think he has an incredible voice. Not to everyone's tastes though I do understand. rather like Cedric from The Mars Volta

  • i like these more than Tool....little more light in their music overall

  • @jocorocket Tool always has great lyrics though, I'm not the kinda guy who over analyzes the words but their shit is a lot crazier

  • The timing to this song is not unique. The hamonics with the vocals and guitar is complimentry and is undeniably awesome!

  • @Mylozuma I don't think you know what unique means.

  • I likes!!

  • Sounds a bit like 10 Years I think....or at least this song. First time even hearing this band. It could grow on me....

  • i just learned to play this on drums. shit pissed me off for like 15 minutes. 15 minutes of pure self loathing, then it was all good :D

  • Comment removed

  • I made a mistake by responding to you,

I was actually talking to Goldenmage, who said "without strong basis in mathematical theory, drummers cannot perform such [songs]" . And I agree with what you said :)

  • @linkguiMuse,

Ah ok, no problem. Thanks for clarifying. :)

  • Of course, it is very known, best musicians are all mathematicians, the other suck.

     (you a bit idiot).

  • @linkguiMuse,

Did I say you had to be a mathematician to be a good musician? No. You don't even have to understand music theory to be a good musician. You may be able to play great by ear, but what you end up playing can still be explained using both music theory and math. In a similar manner, you don't have to understand the mechanics of what's going on under the hood of your car to be a good driver. So just because you're not thinking about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

  • @BootBazaar As a very dedicated musician I find myself running into this very equation on a daily basis. And your comment, is an excellent representation of what that feels like, and what unfolds within any piece of music. Very nicely wrote.

  • @BootBazaar A-fucking-men

  • @BootBazaar amen.

  • @BootBazaar Nevertheless having an understanding of math can definitely help a musician to understand music better. You're completely correct in the sense that music (and anything for that matter) can be simplified to and be explained by unapplied mathematics. Just wondering, but are you agnostic?

  • @BootBazaar Great comment.

  • MAN FUK BIRDS OF TOKYO

  • i looked up consistency in the dictionary and was NOT surprised that the definition was simply STEVE JUDD.

  • Maybe music would have more "feel" if it was a 4/4 time signature. But for irregular time signatures found in this song, you HAVE to rely on math. I guarantee that the drummer uses a click-track live.

  • @goldenmage: Not necessarily true. It's absolutely possible to train your brain to be able to 'think' and 'feel' music in odd time. It just takes a lot of practice, repetition, and a different way of thinking about rhythm. I've done it, and I've only been playing for 12 years. If I have, Steve Judd definitely has. Look at other drummers like Danny Carey of Tool...he doesn't play or even RECORD with a click track. Steve Judd might use a click in this song, but I guarantee you he doesn't need it.

  • @surfrusty12: Well yeah, I suppose you're right. Now tht you mention it, I know for a fact that Bobby Jarzombek plays without click for anything he does, and his music is nothing but math.

But my arguement is that without a strong basis in mathematical theory, drummers cannot perform such complex time signatures.

I've just started trying to do some math-y stuff myself, and I'm ripping my hair out trying to get the timing right... But I just need more practice.

  • @goldenmage: You're right. You do have to have a solid understanding of the math behind rhythm to write that kind of music. The best way to learn to play that sort of stuff is to play along to songs that are in odd time. Eventually you'll figure out how to make those rhythms your own, add fills to them, etc. It just takes practice and very disciplined, precise playing.

  • @surfrusty12 Perfect practice makes perfect :D

  • it blows ur fucking mind!

  • geez this is amazing!

  • Extraordinary

    Perfect

    Intimidating

    Colourful

  • this song is awesome

  • It's like tool and a perfect circle had a baby then that baby meets dream theater aaannddd they fuckkkkk... This is the shit it would make

  • Its like Aperfect circle had a baby with tool, and this is what came out.

  • FUCK !!!

  • Awesome!

  • this is a masterpiece, it gets better as you go along

  • It's as unique as Meshuggah and Meshuggah is THE shit. None of this Shirley Temple timing. I do dig this song though. It's funny how so many ppl find this "original" etc. as it has all been done before. At least you're opening your minds, or i should say, are open minded when it comes to this kind of music though.

  • Karnivool 100% perfect!

  • See You on Saw 3D !

  • @77SystemOfaDown True!!! Great movie!:)

  • SAW MUTHAFUCKIN 7!!

  • what the fuck is with so many ppl comparing karnivool to tool? i cant even comprehend the difference between the 2 because its so great.

  • @MrInsignia16

There's no comparison, they're just a derivative. Is that so bad? At least it's a positive influence. Long live Maynard.

  • This Song is going to be on the SAW 3D soundtrack hell yea..go DR GORDON!

  • i didnt think maths and music were made to go together...

  • @rogerthat155,

Absolutely math and music go together. Rhythms are math, time signatures are math, musical intervals are math, scales are math, chords are created from notes using math, the relationship between chords in chord progressions are math.... math has its finger prints all over music.

  • @BootBazaar

mate, feeling music has nothing to do with math, writing music has nothing to do with math, improvisation has nothing to do with math. Theory does, but true music comes from feel, not maths

  • @willshakesnbakes,

But "feeling" has a lot to do with math, we can go to a lower level than scales and look at how the waveforms of the notes combine. In general two notes that sound good together produce frequently repeating patterns (small ratios) and notes that sound dissonant do not produce frequently repeating patterns. Thus the "feeling" of how notes sound together at the most basic waveform level are strongly related to math and this doesn't matter whether you are writing or improvising.
