When I was in elementary school in the 1960s, the music teacher would come to our classroom periodically with a bunch of mostly rhythm instruments (such as tambourines, cymbals, and triangles), but the one that everyone loved was the autoharp. It was considered an honor to be picked to play the autoharp. The teacher would show us the chords to play, and we'd take it from there. Since I took piano lessons, I had some idea of how the chords fit in.
Not really sure which ones I like the sound best on. I do have some felt picks. I'm not sure where I got them from but it might've been either at the Prussia Valley Dulcimer store in Waverly, Ohio or a now defunct guitar store. Glad you like my vid...
Hi, thank you so much for your playing ...I'm listening to different autoharps & I notice that some sound better than others...I think they sound better when the opening is higher...what do you think? Also, I heard someone play a long time ago w/ felt picks & I liked that softer sound better...does anyone sell the felt picks? thanks Donna
Wow, all those incredible instruments! I also play several instruments but this is awesome! I must visit this Dulcimer Store some time. Well played, Cheryl.
That's neat. It was easier for me to play the autoharp since, I had taken piano lessons myself and that helped me in playing guitar too.
