This is a reply to acg716 who "bought this cheap hoop from cvs" : A "cheap" hoop means it is a child's hoop, i.e., too lightweight and too small for the average adult. The diameter of the hoop should measure the same as the distance form floor to between 2" above the belly button and mid-chest. This is the recommended size hoop for the adult novice. Yes, heavier rotates more slowly and so is easier to work with but not more than 2 - 3 lbs. The bigger you are, the bigger the hoop.
@acg716 The hoop was most likely a hoopnotica hoop. Those are hoops are heavier for things like isolations but you should, depending on your size, be able to hoop with it. I myself needed a larger hoop and that hoop wasn't good for me. Most hoops hoopdancers use ARE weighted. Meaning the material makes it heavy enough. Water hoops are bad for tricks. If you still want a heavier hoop, you can check with a local hoop maker or etsy. Or you can make your own.
This seems to be the latest fun sassy workout which I am happy to try because it looks upbeat and not as self consciously sexy as stripper arobics and I like to have good times when i workout,
