lol you remind me Senor Benedick from Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing". He's my second favorite character. My overall favorite is Beatrice. She reminds me of me.
Definitely interesting thoughts, you're definitely smarter than the common theist, in my opinion at least, who would give no ground to the fact that things could theoretically be better.
Out of curiosity do you have any thoughts on why god created everything the way it is beyond love? Any thoughts on why the universe should have turned out the way it did, rather than differently?
i personally believe there MAY be more than one universe. perhaps an infinity of universes with physics and properties nothing like we know of. (a couple videos under my favourites talks about this)
i do also believe there is some truth behind most religions.
i find it amazing that 5000 years ago the hindu religion was talking about string theory and multiple universes and a god for each universe. also that civilizations that never met. every civilization had a god or "great spirit" or creator
you can ask the question "why?" all you want, and you may gain some information from this.....but there will be a point in which the question "why?" stops. and you will not be able to go any further than that.
So what are we to do once we realize our knowledge is finite? Give up? Where would science be if we took that reasoning to the logical extreme? Why should we give up just because we cannot necessarily know everything? Also how do know that we cannot know god? Perhaps this ladder of knowledge we climb, does in fact, extend to the heavens? If we cannot know god by reason and evidence, how else can you know that god exists btw?
the kids always want to go here or there and buy this and buy that. and watch this, and hang out in a certain neighbourhood. the parent realizes the dangers of doing certain things that the kid will never understand as long as he is a kid. as a parent you may even try to explain it to the kid. but the kid wont understand, and he will cry, and moan, and throw a fit. only to grow up and realize that it was for his own good.
there is no reason to stop science, science is a great tool, and people like dawkins like to try and "hijack" science and wage a make believe war of "science vs religion" which is really not the case, as i know plenty of scientist who are religious. r ha
and to someone like you it may be rather hard to prove the existence of god. but all i have to say is with over 14 dimensions and quantum mechanics, the odds of there being a god is very probable.
the thing is that some scientist sadly believe we will get to that point. but we wont. information will get distorted and lost over time, wars will breakout, hey maybe even a nuke holocaust, aliens invading, natural disasters, crazy regimes like pol pot's khmer rouge that tried to re-write history. anything really. even if we got close, everything that has a beging has an end. the universe will one day collapse, and EVERYTHING will of never existed.
another thing to realize is that almost every civilization prior to the present, thought they had a superior way of recording data, and information, and knowledge. so much information has been destroyed in history for whatever reasons. they thought they had it all. they thought their knowledge and civilization would last forever, yet as we well know, we barley know anything about them
so after you revealed yourself to the people, 50% faithful 50% atheists, NOW everyone believes in you. how do you answer everyones prayers? how do you answer one prayer over another? what if you only answer SOME prayers? what if you dont answer any prayers at all? then the people will start to hate you.
you should watch the futurama episode "godfellas" i have the ending under my favourites but you have to see the full episode to understand
Depends how powerful I am. I am obviously timeless, so time isn't an issue, and if I am maximally powerful, why not answer every single prayer?
Why would I only answer some prayers? If the prayer is bad, if for some reason my creation deviates magically somehow, then I will answer their prayer, but I will not fulfill their wishes.
I have seen that episode many times actually. Bender is far from having maximally great qualities that I assumed I would have as Yahweh, thus not the same comparison.
not the same comparison, but the closest really if you think about it. we have to realize that their are many thing that are more important than just one group, or race, or species. we also have to realize we have no idea what is going through the "mind" of god. we are like children who don't understand the big picture that adults do. except as long as we are alive we will be children.
Sure, it makes sense for god not to solve one problem by making five more problems, but there are obviously simpler issues that easily go unresolved everyday. For instance a baby dieing in a fire, what is to prevent god from rescuing that baby, given the qualities I have prescribed?
The fact that you have to appeal to our ignorance, isn't going to make a compelling case for why god does exist. The evidence more so, seems to support a blind naturalistic universe unguided by a god.
Does it matter what we as humans want? Assuming Christianity is true for a moment, wouldn't I want to be uncorrupted and incorruptible, rather than fallen? Both are within gods power, given the common definition of Yahweh, yet we are fallen, so says the bible. If I did make humans, they would reside in a heaven like arena, they would be incorruptible, and I would have never made Satan to cause the fall. Under those conditions I could make humans, if I was god, but why would I?
God has no free will, he'd do whatever he was programmed to by his nature; as an eternal being, he'd eventually end up making EVERY POSSIBLE WORLD, unless he was both immutable and constrained.
The first world I would make with my current personality would be like that YHWH made; one reason I can't believe, he's all too human. Unless there was a 0% probability I would ever make a world I WOULD make it; if i was not changeless I wouldn't have a 0% of anything!

You would not create humans?
Don't you think that years of bloodshed and wars would be fun to watch?
And nothing wrong with hitting a few people with lightning just for the lulz.

well thank you right back at ya, many atheists bash god and religion so hard that they forgot why they are bashing it, yet they continue to do so.
well i have no idea "why" simply because i am a human and my brain was not made to deal with things such as "godding" the universe. lol

I agree Yahweh is almost as human as a Greek god, which makes its nearly impossible for me to believe, though evidence could change my stance.
