You ask how you're supposed to guess what to do with the flute. Both of the flute's purposes can be discovered by talking to townspeople. You act like the flute's purpose is easier to figure out in the first game. Yet you just have to know exactly what screens to play it on to open certain dungeons and no one in the game gives you any hints. There's like a grave it opens. How were you supposed to know that?

About palaces turning to rock. They turn to rock when you place the crystal AND get the item.

I have to warn you though. They can still turn to rock even if you haven't gotten all the keys. This isn't like the previous game where you can buy keys in the store but it's also not like the later games where you can only use keys in the dungeons where you got them. This means you can take keys out of one dungeon and use them to beat another. You will then be stuck and have to start a new game.

I'm not sure if this review was meant to be serious, but there's a lot that's factually incorrect. For instance, he bashes Death Mountain for being hard, when in reality he just didn't know how to fight a single enemy (the axe-thrower, who's actually pretty easy). Zelda 2 is up there with LttP as the best Zelda game, and the only people who think it "sucks" have never played it for longer than 10 minutes.

@Neekstarrr I not being rude or anything it's just that that kinda the point of AVGN. AVGN is about the Nerd complaining about every fault in the game possible to make it entertaining. The games he reviews are usualy bad but not always since he was requested to review this one.

He did point out Zelda 2 isn't half bad and some fans like it & some don't but each episode is done identicaly which means if a game gets reviewed by AVGN, it means it's not gonna be a positive one.

Even if you don't like this game, think about this....

The original Zelda really didin't have any "themed" dungeons. Acually, they all pretty much used the same format. If they didn't make this game OoT wouldn't be as fun there puzzle-like dungeons with a uniquness. Games today wouldn't be as good! The whole variety might have never happened!!!

The style this is played in sounds extremely similar to Demon Souls. The extreme early difficultly and how leveling up makes the crazy hard ending a little more tolerable, dieing and starting all over, feeling like a 4 year old against Hulk Hogan! Demons Souls rules by the way.

I've loved video games my entire life, and believe it or not, until a week or so ago, I had never played any Zelda games. Last week I downloaded The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, and A Link to the Past on my Wii. I LOVED the original Legend of Zelda, and today when I beat it I started to play Zelda 2, I hated it so much that I turned it off after 5 minutes. So then I started A Link to the Past, which I fucking love even more than the original. So far, great games, but hated Zelda 2.

You should do a review of Earthbound, sometime. That's another example of a game that gives you ridiculous challenge way too early, forcing you to have to keep racking up experience points, but actually becomes easier the further you progress. It's still a pretty fun game, though.
