  • redneck hippies unite. Remember when liberals give up firearms only only wingnuts will be armed.

  • Maintenance Shop, Ames IA represent! Can't wait to see James in Des Moines in April.

  • I first heard the song, Childish Things" on Chicago's WXRT about two or three years ago, and I thought to myself, this is better than any Steve Earle song!!!! Sadly, not enough people people are singing about "reality" and the ones that are, like this gentleman, can't get exposed to a larger audience. No one wants to hear the TRUTH, until it knocks on THEIR door, and then, IT'S TOO LATE! Thanks for posting patriotic, american music!!! Peace & Happiness, always~Jason

  • thanks bro i love your vision ....slayton

  • Look, I am USMC retired, love James music, he has said some things about the government, but thats why we have a free country and why so many of my brothers and sisters in arms have given their lives. shut up hippies and rednecks both, you both sound like simple narrow minded people

  • @codypolk1973 awwww hugs to you and thank you!

  • It's the other way around nugga.

  • @HighVoltageJM you have a spelling DISORDER.

  • @tash10290 lol

  • Video and musical and lyrical content absolutely first rate. He's standing up for truth against corporate americas use of the gun and the troops to keep the stinking capitalist filth ever rich. LONG LIVE SOCIALISM!!!!! comradely, baz x

  • I really don't care for James McMurtry political views, and I especially don't like his negative views of the military, but he can write and sing well. Too bad he just focus his creative talents on attack songs instead of a more broader based positive message genera of music and lay off the troop bashing.

  • i don't think he is 'troop-bashing'.... it's them as is in control and sending the troops wherever (or the jobs come to that) that he hates. someone has to do these songs, they can't all be the totally interchangeable girl or boy or generic indie-whingers, someone has to write from the heart and James does just that.

  • I have never heard James say a bad word about the troops. Bush, on the other hand, is a different story.

Not everybody likes the same thing. That goes for politics, too.

I agree with about 99% of what James says. I also happen to think that Toby Keith and his red-neck buddies aren't fit to polish James shoes.

    But that's just my opinion.

  • @toterola451

    Mine too!

  • @toterola451 Surprisingly enough, Toby Kieth was also critical of Bush while at the same time supporting the troops

  • @THENEWJMONEY507, you remember something different than I do. I remember Toby Keith jumping astraddle the Dixie Chicks when all that bullsh*t was raging, and saying that "It pisses the Liberals off because I'm a registered Democrat who supports Bush." That comment, coupled with that flag waving chicken hawk anthem "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" doesn't recommend Mr. Keith in my estimation. Just my thoughts, I ain't trying to start any fights. Good times!

  • @toterola451 Never thought you were picking a fight. It is true that Keith made that comment regarding the Dixie Chicks, and he did come out with that song after 9/11, but he still did not condone the War in Iraq, and he voted for Obama, if I am correct in my reading. Just my thoughts as well.

  • @toterola451 YOU TELL 'EM toterola

  • He's not troop bashing. I've seen at least one interview in which he's speaking very highly of combat soldiers. Believe it or not, it is actually possible to support soldiers and protest war at the same time.

  • ya you have to support the troops not the cause hafe the troops are there as a last resort theres no other jobs anymore they have a recute in the poorest most minorite parts of the city promising them a great future they sing a contract they dont understand and cant get out of and get killed just so wall street gets richer and they get oil power

suport the troops not the cause

    sorry about the spelling

  • samthemanah64, YOU a U.S. soldier, calling for the death of an American citizen, James McMurtrty, seems quite appalling to me. And wake up, you are serving politicians, Bush is a politician and this war that you and others have served so well in, was, in reality, uncalled for. When you wish James McMurtry "a horrible death you piece of shit" look at your own self first. Unstable.

  • Sam's a Man? petulent child sounds more like after might make right bootcamp always right never look back or wrong,(how could they ever see it when they often are) selectively blind Corp. tools by the time they graduate bootcamp.they all seem to need to realize that they didn't invent the f'n wheel here.

Many generations HAVE Fought and Died For The freedom to disagree

  • ???

  • join the freakin army samthemank64 you dittohead fool M.J.

  • You people should respect those who were willing to put their lives on the line to protect you while you sleep soundly in your beds at night. They are not serving politicians - they are serving YOU! Don't blame them for bad political leadership...You're the ones who vote!! Elect another president if you don't like Bush, but don't involve the troops...they're just following orders.

  • "YOU PEOPLE" who is you people..I dont know anyone personally who doesnt respect the troops as bloody liberal as they might be..you have your views and opinions pretty twisted buddy.. You may disagree with the message and political context of James' music..but you can keep that shit to yourself..he's a fucking amazing dedicated musician and songwriter and he has the right to write about whatever he wants..You are a sad, ignorant, brainwashed..you're a disgrace to yourself and your mother, DIRTBAG

  • Well Said

  • James I love your music. I enjoyed you guys at Higher Ground VT in OCt 2005. Danced my behind off! Heartless Bastards rock. I was psyched to meet Rhonnie. Keep up the amazing work!...James is a MUST see live!!!

  • I have all the albums...great music, exceptional lyrics too.

  • i heard this on npr.theres been a lot wrong for a long time.our greed has come home to roost.

  • Is this the writer James McMurtry?

  • This is James McMurtry the singer/songwriter. He is the son of Larry McMurtry the writer.

Check out "We Can't Make it Here Anymore". (The acoustic version - 05:51) Most powerful topical song written in at least 40 years. It should be our new National Anthem.
