  • ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER RECORDED.

    GENE PITNEY, R.I.P.

  • i love it

  • Great oldie I haven't heard for yrs

  • Artist with Greatest Voice

  • I bought my first record player second hand when I was 13 yrs of age ...it came with 40 records and I purchased it from a elderly lady I knew..I payed 20$ for it one of the albums That came with the 40 records was Gene Pitney's greatest hits ..that was in 1963.. I stillI still have the album and the other 39 also My records have gone into the new age and transformed onto cd's courtesy of a friend..I since then have discovered a device I can plug into my cigarette lighter and take them with me

  • the only thing wrong with this song is that it's too short.

  • Best of the Best - He was Great

  • bap bap :-))))))))))))))))

  • The music of my youth takes on a whole new beautiful view, seeing and hearing it though the teachings of A Course in Miracles. Love my Life Away...absolutely!

  • Love this great oldie! Thumbs up! Added to my playlist. Thanks for sharing. Cheers ~Monica~

  • his very first song to chart!

  • i have heard alot of gene Pitney tributes...and nothings better than listening to Gene...sorry dont mean to offend anybody...but you know who you are and, need to go back to studing the mans style.....or stay at home...this guy here cant be copied!!!

    not yet any way!!!!!!!!

  • I read that Gene is playing all the instruments and singing all the background vocals as this was supposed to be a 'demo' but was released as a single. Great job he did!

  • @pianoman1065 yea he studied electronics and music he really knew what he was doing

  • @spacepatrolman And there was the time he drove to another state just to listen to a record in a jukebox no internet then

  • Amazing!!! One of my all time fave singers. I was 9!! So glad I discovered music was the way to my heart -- early on....RIP Gene...:-(

  • Gene was a great talent-Singer, song writer, producer. Never forgot his roots in the Nutmeg state. Had great pipes his entire life. Even sang DooWop in the 50's. Just an immense talent.

  • @LuccaBB1 He has an Ango-Saxon name, but he looks Sicilian. What is with that? A junior college classmate of mine went on a date with him.

  • Gene was a great talent-wong writer, singer, performer. Never forgot his roots in the Nutmeg state. Total class. Had great pipes his entire life.

  • i loves gene pitney ;p

  • One of my favorites but then almost all his songs were my favorites lol Can't get enough of this voice.

  • I understand Gene also played all the instrumental tracks on this tune. A real renaissance man.

  • another catchy tune by a great singer. thanks for the upload. dont get to hear artists like gene where i live in india. this is refreshing.

  • my fav by gene,no wait---mecca,no wait-half heaven half heartache,no wait-if i didn't have a dime.on and on!

  • Couldn't get lyrics that are more positive then the ones in this #1 hit by Gene...luv it everytime I hear it, thanks for sharing!

  • @cafe9802 I agree it's a chart topper, but according to the stats given by the sender it barely made it inside the top 40. What was stopping it from going top 10, that much one would expect from a song of this calibur. I suppose crying by roy orbison took gene's place on the overall rankings and that's a blooming pity. crying, a chart topper and yet. lovin' ones life away barely got a rating..how negative on behalf of the music industry!!!!

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ Caliber. Calibre. Excalibur.

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ I always considered him the best but considering the times, he had tons of competition....today I think he would swept all before him...Frankly there aren't many in his range of talent and voice.....Imagine someone today that could buck up aganist Orbison and make a run....its no competition but I am still finding Pitney songs I haven't heard and now I see he did many songs in German and Italian....nice large body of work includes songs he wrote for others....he is still great

  • Like it!

  • Great. loved it then when I was 11 years old!

  • Gene is a cool guy-early friend of the Stones.

  • This is fabulous. Many thanks. I remember this

    when I was a kid.

You can pick the right songs.

    Happy holidays.

  • One of my gene Pitney favorites.

  • Gene's voice was one of the most recognizable from the 1960's. I've watched one of his live performances, I think from the late-90's, here on You Tube. Even in his later years, Gene's voice hadn't changed noticeably. Just a remarkable entertainer!

  • I 've liked yhis song since a child. Gene has a good voice.

  • RIP, GENE.

  • This makes my heart happy!! Lovely!

  • A great debut from the late great Gene Pitney. Thanks for posting this on your channel!

  • woooh wata song, 5 stars !!!!

  • i love this song it took me sooooo long to find it?!?

i dont know why but it did?!?!?!

  • Sharp guy.Overdubbed and performed all tracks on this recording except bass.Cost him $30.

  • Unique, original, inventive, vocalist.

  • Cant get enough of Gene Pitney...Love his voice!!! thanks Brent for posting
