  • If you wave a sign in a guy's face when he's trying to do his job, what the fuck do you think will happen!?

  • I think he was right to do it. No matter how nice the sign might have been message wise, it would have distracted from the news broadcast, especially seeing as it was being waved about it such close proximity. No one likes an idiot who prances around in front of the news cameras, good intentions or not.

  • The way rights are supposed to work is that you have the right to them until they encroach on another's right so no he did not have the right to do that even aside from theft or destruction of property. His rights were not being interfered with but then he interfered with those of the protester. I won't be partaking in further debate on this.

  • How the fuck did I miss this, I knew I had a dislike for that Cunt but couldn't put my finger on it till now.

  • Yew shud be ashaymed of yo self mayyt

That woz a silly fffing to do mayyt

  • I respect him. I wish a few more politicians had the balls to do that. Too many weaklings in politics and media, too afraid to annoy the public. Nick was doing his job and protecting the impartiality of the BBC.

  • Nick Robinson and Jeremy Paxman. If they joined forces, god knows what wonders would happen!

  • @TheMassAnnoyance Jeremy Paxman is a genius, Nick Robinson is a fucking prick, how can you even compare the two ?

  • it's like pointing fingers at your face and say "i'm not touching you"

    kindergarten mentality!

  • Good for Nick Robinson. He has a legal, professional and moral obligation not to broadcast with external messages intruding into his piece, ujnless they are the subject of the piece. It never ceases to amaze me how much people misunderstand what 'freedom of speech means. It does not mean 'jump in front of any camera and fuck up someone ele's job'.

  • lol...I've just watched this prick on BBC news going on about property damage on the streets of London by student protestors.

  • Nick Robinson, you should resign!!!!

  • To be fair, that's actually damage of personal property. There's a line between trying to just get it out of the shot and smashing it up...

  • @xArmagideonTime you could clearly see that the shot couldent be moved. He has a right to be a professional in his job without being hijacked by a protestor imposing his will on a national broadcast. It's an impartial broadcast.

  • Nick Robinson is like a stupid snake who needs to go away and take his "correspondence" and crappy blogs with him.

  • Nick Robinson is well paid lower entity reptilian! Just look closer at his eyes..SSSSsssss

  • What was the Geico gecko doing there at the end?

  • That's theft and criminal damage, not freedom of speech!

  • the troops are only there because of the £1trillion worth of untouched mineral reserves in Afganistan. I mean why don't we invade Yemen, Somalia etc.... because there's nothing in it for us. the world is run by greed and decisions like war are based on the amount of capital they gain.

  • Well done Nick,

its good to see some direct action against assholes who have nothing better to do in their lives but poke an old piece of cardboard in view of the camera.

  • The stupid man who said that Nick Robinson should be ashamed of himself is probably blissfully unaware with his level of stupidity that if it were not for the British troops on Afghan soil, Al-Qaeda would still be there AND the local grown opium would still be finding its way onto our streets.

For those who support this form of protest as a 'right' ... how long will it be before you can't see the reporter for the scrawl-covered cardboard of the so-called defenders of rights?

  • @vernonpage I've got news for you mate: Al-qaeda are still in Afghanistan, afghani opium is still on our streets (more than ever if i may add) and there's no end in sight for either of those problems. So maybe you should read up on these things before you go calling other people stupid.

  • @nitotom Oh dear, it seems that you are determined to make yourself look stupid at each twist and turn. Current estimates put the Al Qaeda contingent in Afghanistan at about 50 to 100 operatives, way below the estimates of five to ten thousand that used to base themselves there. The leadership of AlQaeda has been forced into Northern Pakistan. The new base is now in the outlying areas in the Yemen.

Besides, what is your alternative strategy, just leave them to get on with it?

  • @vernonpage Calling other people stupid doesn't make you any less stupid mate. And you're right, I can't think of anything better than war. Always fight fire with fire. Fool.

  • @nitotom: stubborn, aren't you? You still haven't laid out 'nitotom's strategy' for ridding the world of gangs of deluded, demented religionists, who planned and executed some of the greatest terrorist atrocities from their safe haven in Afghanistan. Do you imagine they will leave us alone if we leave them alone? It is abundantly clear that you don't know very much about Islam or Islamic fundamentalists.

  • @vernonpage Ridding the world of evil "infidels" is what they want. Ridding the world of evil "terrorists" is what you want. My plan would be to rid the world of idiots that think they can rid the world of anything.

  • @nitotom: Will your policy still be 'do nothing' when a rogue state or terrorist group gets its hands on a nuclear weapon? Will you still be criticising military action? The trouble with your hypothesis is that it bears no relation to the real world, where economic power determines who rules. Choose: Western-style politics (I deliberately avoid the word 'democracy') or a bunch of countries led my men in beards who happen to think that their belief are derived from the word of god? Hmmm! tough!

  • What an asshole, he's supposed to be politically neutral. Obviously he holds the views on the sign post in contempt.

  • Is the protester going to charge bo-selecta bear(L☺L )with willful damage of his property?

  • it's just shame it was pacifists that Tory Boy Robinson was getting arsey with, someone should have kicked the self important oaf up in the air

  • it's just shame it was pacifists that Tory Boy Robinson was getting arsey with, someone should have kicked him the self important oaf up in the air

  • Well done nick.

  • GO ON MOLEMAN :D

  • Fair play to Nick! These people seem more concerned with embarassing television reporters than getting their point across. If it was me i'd have done the same. He's only doing his job after all.

  • he looks just like jon sweeney the cloned ass wipe

  • Nick, your a legend. Should have hit the protester with the banner....

  • YEY BECAUSE FREEDOM OF SPEACH IS EVIL, 'FUCK YOU' EVERYONE WHO SIDED WITHROBINSON!!!!!

  • PURE comic timing. *as soon* as hes done distroying the sign another just pops up.

    oh how i loled.

  • Nick looks like the bear on bo-selector☺ He MUST be ashamed of his willfull damage of the protesters banner because he apologised later BUT... Nick is not the only one who intemporately smashes up free speech, comrade Tony Gosling is rather intemperate toward free speech on his 911 web site!

  • nick robinson what a bellend

  • I like porn.

  • i thought it said "cut the war not the poop" at first :)

  • The last words of the of the video say it all:

" Why should i be ashamed of myself?"

    "All those troops dying f...."

  • Robinson reminds me of Sgt Bilko, but without the wit.....

  • Am I alone in thinking that this chap "Nick Robinson" is likely the bastard grandson of that well-known social engineer, the murderer John Reginald Halliday Christie, late of 10 Rillington Place?

  • Yes, displays the confidence with which the BBC has been suppressing free speech for years.

  • Wow, no shouting, no posturing, just a stealth-like swipe of the banner and a strong kick to break it in two. He should be an assassin :)

  • Shows his true (blue) colours - woudn't have done the same with a pro-war sign

  • @playlist012345 why are torys pro war if you have forgot it is labour that put us in Afghanistan you bloody idiot

  • Protesters are, on whole, dicks.

We all know we should cut the war; there's no need for a banner ruining a quality news report. Robo FTW!

  • good for Nick he stuck up to those people.

  • He was well within his rights to do that. With the freedom of speech comes the freedom of counter-speech.

  • @AConcernedBlogger

actually freedom of speech route would have been to take on the protesters arguement not to childishly take the sign away.

  • @AConcernedBlogger UNBELIEVABLE. you think it's okay to destroy someone else's property?!!!!!!!!!????? I guess your the kinda person who then condemns protesters if they damaged property! Hypocrite. surely his right to equally counter his speech would be to hold a placard of the opposing view up. THAT makes it equal. BBC is meant to be non bias anyway as its payed for by taxes and so hypothetically he shouldnt give his view whilst doing work for the bbc.

  • @AConcernedBlogger I wasn't aware Freedom of Speech included the right to destroy other people's possessions.

  • @AConcernedBlogger Doesn't stop him being a complete and utter prick.

  • Disgrace! Sack him!

  • LEGEND

  • why should he be ashamed i would done the same thing people need to stop acting like children! Nick Robinson i salute you

  • @youshallruetheday Yes you are right take away everyone's right to protest and attack anyone that dares use freedom of speech. You will make a great fascist dictator some day - well done cunt!

  • @WillShakespeare2007 free speech oh right so i put up a sign saying somethings wrong in the world on national television is fine is it? no its not it childish and pushy DO NOT FORCE YOU OPINIONS ON ME

  • @youshallruetheday Yes it is "fine"! I think you need to read some history. If it was not for people protesting and "saying somethings wrong", women would not have the vote, black would still be slaves. Forget it I can not even start on that comment. Protest is why you have any rights at all.

  • @youshallruetheday Surely stealing other people's signs is more childish. And let's not get into the the "maturity" of going to war.

  • its so funny that as soon as he took one sign another one popped right up!

  • guaranteed the reason the video stops then is because nick verbally KO's that hedgemonkey protestor

  • Robinson did the decent thing here. Should have killed the protester as well.

  • Fuck that, the protestor shouldn't be intruding when Nick is doing his job. The protestor was being a dick.

  • It's irritating - for Robinson. Give the guy a break, why should he have someone impinging on him at work like that? Freedom of speech is all very good but this wasn't really an appropriate avenue as the report wasn't actually in place to facilitate whoever decided to wave a plackard. But yes, am sure the poor man will be brow-beaten into making some form of apology because of some seemingly uneducated oik's desire to wave a sign where it wasn't wanted or actually necessary.

  • @Brimstoneandfire shut up u conservative good back to eton

  • Comment removed

  • @Halfbunnedzootclan

Oh, piss off, you uneducated, demonstrably inarticulate and argumentative loser. And learn to spell while you're at it.

I've taken the Eton reference as a compliment, thanks, but I'm not a Conservative (not that it's relevant here - my point being that some oik, like yourself, was inappropriately interfering with this man, who was simply trying to do his job). Fetch yoursef some grey matter, or alternatively go swig a few more gallons of cheap cider.

  • @Brimstoneandfire the point is hes not doing his job properly hes clearly bias but what would i kno i mean i just drink gallons of cider as you say go cry and sumwhere else u FAG ur obviouly sum little virgin gettn bare upset of youtube

ur mums been raped 9 times

  • Comment removed

  • Rather silly. He'll undoubtedly end up regretting that in the future. Moment of frustration undoubtedly...but can't be done if you rely on intregrity and the need to be objective.

Look out for an apology along side comments like "it was a long day"

  • nick robinson, fuck off to sky news you cunt

  • @nksr74 well said

  • Nick Robinson is there to report the news not seek to censor it. The people behind him have every right to protest. and not have their placard trashed just because they spoilt Robinsons precious piece to camera He perhaps should have sought to understand why those people were behind him protesting, who they were, why they were there. Instead of which he acted like a spoilt child, and stomped off to nurse his overpaid over-inflated ego

  • @hashapeler: Yeah, because the world is perfect and Nick undoubtedly has enough time to interview every placard-wielding protester he meets. No, he had a job to do, and that man was interfering with it. Not that what he did was right, but I bet that around half the people here would have done the same.

  • @ArpeggiateTHIS No it's because the world isn't perfect that those people were protesting and asking for the troops to come home. For all Robinson knew they could have been people who had lost loved ones in Afghanistan, and felt strongly enough to protest to try and save further lives. To just have some Prima Donna snatch and stamp on their sign, when for what ever reason they cared enough to protest is shameful

  • @hashapeler well said

  • @hashapeler shut up

  • @Glozboy22 Solid argument, you got me there

  • If he bothered to gain the respect of politicians and perhaps lobby MP's then he might have a slight possibility of being heard, but waving a tatty banner behind a news reporter... no wonder why their voices aren't heard by the Government.

  • @jg4eva01 Have you ever tried to lobby an MP? And did you get anything back apart from a standard letter displaying no evidence that the letter you sent had even been read? If so you're doing better than me. People need to make their voices heard in any way they can - writing a polite letter to the House of Commons simply doesn't do any good, and it certainly doesn't lead politicians to 'respect' you.

  • @jg4eva01 Really? Have you read the first thing about history? I hate to sound elitist but what a profoundly ignorant thing to say.

  • Don't blame him, annoying someone when they're trying to do there job is very annoying. Yeah but "the BBC is pro war" fucking idiots

  • If some crusty juggler was poking a home made cardboard scribble in your ear whilst you were trying to do your job, you'd get narky too. Fact.

And as for the BBC haters, the world service has done more for this planet than any other broadcaster you could name. Also fact.

  • You have to remember.... the bbc became pro war and pro state an the Day David Kelly was found dead. It is hardly suprising that Robinson reacted this way.

They (BBC) exist only as a self serving parasitic organisation, once producing world class tv, but now feeding a docile public mind numbing crap such as strictly come dancing etc.

To them, purpose means keeping the TV license, not serving and informing the British people.

  • This is why i hate the BBC and these money grabbers who work on this ridiculous organisation that we the great british public are forced to pay for with our licence fee tax money that protestor being one them paying for the wages or this scumbag Nick Robinson each year we are forced to pay Billions of pounds towards the BBC yet they treat the ordinary person like mugs!
