  • I cant wait to see the alternate version of the excelisor

  • the intrepid class?

  • I think what you've done is turn a beautiful ship into an grotesque thing of hideous proportions. All you 'real' trekkies are shunning your own loved franchise.Saying 'no this isn't right' and 'the new ship should be called a starsh*t'. You did it to Enterprise and now your doing it to JJ Abrams fantastic creation. Why do you have to be oh so pompous and tell the world what you think Star Trek should be? I think Star Trek should be mixed with Firefly and Tron. OK? Be thankful you got a Trek!

  • i heard somewhere that the enterprise in the star trek movie is a reference to the refit version in the picard era

  • I do prefer the saucer and connecting section moved forward, but the nacelles, pylons, and the upsweep of the engineering hull are all worse frankly. I thought that they did a good job with the redesign. The positioning of the saucer was the only thing that bothered me. And if recall original constitution, before the refit, had its "neck" slightly back too. All of the ship designs that have been done over the years have had at least one thing wrong with them. I commend them for taking a big risk

  • '09 was fun. Stupid, but fun.

  • and where the HELL is INTREPID CLASS??!!

  • Yeah, not a big fan of this Enterprise. Hopefully, the successive films will show improved designs.

  • you speak the truth borther!!!!!!

  • My main complaint with the redesign is that the warp engines are too close to the saucer. If they moved them back a bit I'd be fine with it, the way they're jammed in there looks too cartoony.

  • Um...how does one give a futuristic vehicle a 'modern' look?

  • @MagnusPrime01 What looks futuristic to one generation looks pretty dated to another, since what we perceive as futuristic is influenced by the technology we have today. In a 21st century era where we have iPods and touch screen technology a ship designed in the 1960s doesn't look quite so sleek.

  • Nice, I like those changes.

  • just look at shatner's face when he was making his comment. he was just being "POLITE" he was probably pissed that he was not invited to make a cameo.

  • Betraying every fan out there? I've been a fan of Trek for thirty years, grew up on TOS reruns, watched TNG on its first run, have a Trek fan site that's been visited by millions of people - and I love the new movie and the new Enterprise. Don't presume to speak for "every fan out there", because you don't. Not even close.

  • THANKS FOR CATEGORIZING THE SHIPS . WE ALL LOVE THE DESIGN AND THE IDEA OF STAR TREK . EVEN THOUGH I LOVE STAR TREK FROM THE BEGINNING , I , IF I WOULD DESIGN A DEEP SPACE SHIP, WOULD MAKE IT ROUND OR LIKE THE BORG SQUARE , ENTERPRISE IS A SEXY SHIP BUT IT LOOKS TO BE NOT AGILE , IF YOU COMPARE WITH U. F. O'S , PEOPLE REPORT OF FAST DIRECTIONAL MOVEMENT AT ANGELES , ENTERPRISE HAS TO TAKE WIDE CURVES OR BLAST STRAIGHT AHEAD . SHE IS THE ULTRA TURING CLASSIC .

    GIANFRANCO FRONZI SEPTEMBER

  • Ugh... Star Trek fanboys are worse than Star Wars fanboys... even your precious William Shatner liked the new design of the Enterprise.

  • @darthgreivous He was being nice. Look into his eyes. Also, the Trek vs. Wars thing was probably started by a number of Star Wars fans in the 80's, (when Star Wars actually fought with Star Trek in the theaters) or one idiot Trekkie who didn't get the point of Star Trek anyway.

  • @Idazmi7 Personally I like both. I'm more of a Star Wars fan, but I still love Star Trek. I honestly don't get it. lol

  • @darthgreivous I like both too. But after getting endlessly battle-flamed by a pro-Star Wars eats Star Trek guy named Perion, I have a few predjudices against other Wars fans. I still don't think that a Star Destroyer, as seen in film, would be a match against the original Enterprise, nor did I consider it before. Isn't Star Wars more popular? Why do the fans need to bash Star Trek then? I have never seen any of those fights started by a Trek fan. I used to love the Jedi! Why ruin it for me!?!?

  • @Idazmi7 It's just like anything really. The more popular something is the more douche bags you have in it. Some people are just lame.

  • @darthgreivous Indeed. Especially when they just NEED to sling mud at something.

PS. I didn't like the new look either, but I was okay with the film.

  • @NeonHybridization It doesn't need a lot. Less than a sliver of crystal and it only needs to sustain warp 1 for a light year or two. And while you could launch a standard one at warp the show never shows them doing superluminal passes at fleets at all. It would make sense, but with directors wanting space dogfights and tension you need a directorial work around.

  • Basically, *we* are getting pissed over how the ship looks like a wonderful hot rod.

I don't know about you guys, but I'll stick with the hot rod.

  • The new version made by the person who made this video is better, the Nacelles should look more TMP.

  • The new ship looks stupid, They could've just shined up an old design, Instead they created trash.

The Defiant kind of is a spit in the face of the series, Its sole purpose was to make a dreadful show more interesting.

That said the Defiants design is still better than the new enterprise.

They could've at least made the ship seem like it wasn't dis-jonited.

  • Admittedly I liked that JJ's version could focus all it's weapons forward. Now if only they could engage multiple targets at once. Those weapons should be able to each take out a ship on their own. And torpedoes should have beyond visible range, and better tracking. Or better yet, their own warp engine for super kinetic effect.

  • the JJ style is fine!!!! stop complaining about it!!!!! jeez people made a big deal about it when they saw the refit model in the TMP and other movies yet later years they liked it. same story here. its based in an alternate reality so of course the design is gonna be different!!!!! so deal with it and stop complaining!!!

  • @jointmatch you are an idiot, the Enterprise D was NOT an ugly ship, it was one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL starships ever conceived! What were YOU thinking?! :O

  • @armysoldierist The saucer section was disproportionately large, and the nacelles much too small. It looked poorly balanced. The secondary hull was squashed. The skinny vertical windows are ugly. The clashing angular patterns of its hull plating and escape pods looked much too busy. The combination of red and blue glow on the nacelles clashed. The eye-shaped deflector dish was hideous. Not even getting into the beige and yellow interiors. The D was a gigantic eyesore.

  • @KenoshiAkai I disagree about the D. The lines were perfectly blended, the ship was elegant, graceful, the warp nacelles glowed beautifully, the deflector....well, ill give you that one. But still, the neck flowed beautifully, the pylons connecting to the nacelles were blended perfect, the saucer WAS NOT disproportionately large, it was perfect right down to the bridge. The whole ship was just magnificient. But if you don't think it was, why don't you tell me what you thought was.

  • @armysoldierist Still disagree on the D, but you make a good case for it. I just really dislike the whole Next Generation aesthetic in general. My favorite Enterprise is still the refit from the Motion Picture. It took all of the eye pleasing lines of the 1960s version and streamlined them, added some grills and fins to the nacelles, and lavished detail on the hull while not overdoing it. Just enough windows, but not too many, and the blue glow on the deflector dish is a beautiful touch.

  • @KenoshiAkai Agreed! :D I especially like the TMP Enterprise!

  • the ugliest ships were the enterprise d and voyager what were they thinking when they designed those? the most classified top secret ship was the promethius it was a beautiful ship as well and one of the most powerful.also the defiant was a dreadnaught meaning it was one hell of a fighter it was made strictly for combat.ablative armor cloaking device quantum torpedos highly menuverable it could have laid waste to most ships and turned galaxy class vessels into dust.

  • @Meyosan

You do realize that the federation was about to be blotted from the face of the Alpha Quadrant by the borg dominion AND certain klingon factions? (Although I think the durasses might have been dead by then) so and I quote "I think it's about time we installed those phase cannons" Jonathan Archer

  • Personnaly I liked the sleaker look of the new ship

  • multi-vector assault gusset

  • wow, your version is awesome

  • Very well done sir, your version is much sleeker I think. The movie one looked a bit ungainly.

  • You thought the redesigned Constitution Enterprise was ugly? Why?

  • "betraying every fan out there"

BAWW. I've been a fan since I was 9; the franchise was getting stale and dated and was in desperate need of a reboot to remove it from the grasp of the nerds who gave Star Trek it's bad name in the first place.

    Deal with it.

  • I agree, it looks much better with the primary hull moved "backwards".

  • It's gonna take more than Photoshop to fix that garbage scow...

Correction - It's gonna take more than Photoshop to HAUL that garbage scow.

  • @TypeORedPill Hahahahaha

  • My favourite ships are the Defiant class ships, the Excelsior class ships. I love the Nova class ship that appeared in the movie Star Trek.

  • Yousr actually does look better then the movie version.

  • Don't be so dramatic. I'm afraid that the new Enterprise looks better than the old one. Seriously you have to move on of course the new film's enterprise was gonna be different -.- NOT A BETRAYAL!

  • I dont feel betrayed. dont be so dramatic its not that bad of a design.

  • @bigdaveking especiailly bearing in mind how little he changed..change the colour of the nacelles and moved the deflector dish

  • @bigdaveking Agreed.

  • @bigdaveking yes it is

  • 0:58 thats the stargazer dumbass

  • @comicman11

Try reading. He's posting the CLASSES, not the NAMES OF THE INDIVIDUAL SHIPS. The Stargazer was a Constellation Class ship.

  • @comicman11 ... Its the constellation class idiot...

  • In my opinion, the new Enterprise is a damned sight better looking than the Enterprise D, which always looked like a ridiculous plastic model to me... from minute one.

  • Nice Photoshop! It looks good now

  • I completely agree, that backset saucer connector on the main hull looked atrocious, like a grotesque overbite. Good job! No more plastic mutant Enterprises!

  • dude you just made it look closer to the constitution class you fucking idiot that's the whole point of new things

  • unless you scrap those stupid warp nacelles there is no helping this bogus and ugly design.

  • eh..red..it is a beautigul design! a great movie for the series!!

  • What is actually wrong with the new one? :S

  • hats off to all the negativity about the enterprise,.. !! kudros !! Now.. Captain Kirk himself. William "Tyberrius" Shatner.. The Captain, he was happy with the ship..So what in all trekkies universe makes you think your oppinions is valid? The ship looks great, its the form of it that makes it Enterprise, and her crew. Awsome ship awsome crew. It just have to grow on you. Like picards Galaxy, It took a while for me to like that big flatheaded ship. but now i think the Galaxy is wicked !!

  • Man, the new Enterprise is so ugly, I'd rather chew off my arm and bleed to death than work on it

  • New design > old.

And in all seriousness, get over it. I'm sick an tired of hearing people, almost two years later and theres still people pissing and whining about the "new design". Like... Seriously?

  • I love the new design better than the old.

  • OK ... i don't think people are getting that the reason things are a little different in this movie is because history has been altered .... it was actually a genius move to update the look of the past for todays audiences with an explanation that keeps with the continuity of the startrek universe .. rather then simply rebooting the story ...

  • Your remodel of JJ's Enterprise is a home run. It's still a shame about the '60's tv Enterprise. I thought the old gal deserved her due on the big screen. Still a great movie.

  • Really small changes yet a huge difference. Now if you could only change the movies plot to being coherent, Simon Pegg to being a decent actor, and the lens flares to being a decent visual style we'd be all set with a good film.

  • 0:37 was that art or from an episode?

  • William Shatner likes it

  • Been a Trek fan since ep 1 of TNG. DS9 has been my favorite, and the Defiant my favorite ship. I love the new look for the Enterprise. Would be sweet to see Enterprise A - E with the new look too. People need to chill and look ahead, change is the only constant in the universe.

RIKER, "It's a pity we can't take them ourselves. Having them on board has been like a visit from the past."

PICARD, "That would take us in the wrong direction. Our mission is to go forward, and it has just begun."

  • I like the "reboot" enterprise. The designer took Matt Jeffery's original design and perfected it. What they weren't able to achieve in the 60's for lack of technology, finances, experience, and other similar mythologies, they more than made up for in the latest film. Remember, it's a reboot--y' gotta level the playing field, and they did just that. Oh yeah, they did just that!

  • @MrMittendorf "perfected" is not the adjective i'd use to describe what they did to Matt Jefferies design. But hey if you like it, all power to you. Glad at least some of us benefited from the reboot.

  • WRONG! @1:11 it's the constitution refit and the excelsior REFIT

  • Say, the image of the con refit and excelsior, where did you find that??

    Otherwise a nice ship video : )

  • The defiant was a VERY VERY ugly piece of plastic.

    The "improvement" was god awful.

The red-blue lights of the next generation era were irksome.

  • Basically all you did was change the colors a bit dude...

  • Prometheus,Nova and Voyager class ships are the most futuristic designs, along with the Sovereign .

Good job,but saucer section still UG-LEE!

  • Meh, the 2009 Enterprise looked awesome by itself. Adding red caps to the nacelles really is no improvement....and I hugely hate all of the Next Generation designs. JJ Abrams gave Star Trek a much needed shot in the arm and brought a tired out franchise back to life. Fans are going to have to get used to that.

  • @KenoshiAkai The 2009 Enterprise looks like it's been pumped with estrogen. Those nacelles look like over inflated boobs. A starship doesn't need boobs, but this one has three: Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman. JJ Abrams did nothing for the Star Trek franchise but dumb it down. He comprimised the integrity of this once great series. Just waiting for cooler heads at Paramount to come in and take over before Abrams kills the franchise for good.

Star Trek: 90210 we don't need.

  • @Actionguy1 The new nacelles don't look like boobs. Big hairdryers, maybe, but not boobs. The ship looks sleeker, sexier, and more powerful. More of a hot rod in space. It's my favorite rendition of the Enterprise right next to The Motion Picture's version. and they had to update the look as a 1960's aesthetic isn't going to cut it with a 2009 audience. And the movie was an origin story, hardly dumbed down, but amped up because they had the budget for more action and less talking.

  • @KenoshiAkai Spot on mate, you can't put a 1960's reharsh into a big budget motion picture for a 21st Century audience, it doesn't work. There was no betrayal of fan's, instead a pure praise for what STAR TREK was, fun, adventure stories, it was Hornblower in space. The 2009 film was everything the Original Series was, it was fun, exciting adventure.

Nicolas Meyer said that all films should reflect when they are made.

  • @Actionguy1 And the Trek franchise WAS dead before Abrams got a hold of it and breathed some new life into it. Hopefully the sequel in 2012 will be more intellectual, since they got the introductions out of the way, but I hope it doesn't ever get mired down into the boring exposition, awkward humor, and awful storytelling that marred Trek VII through X.

  • That actually looks much better than what it looks like in the actual film.

  • if people want the old start trek then buy the dvds and watch them over and over. in most remakes theres always something different. did anyone watch the scene for scene "remake" of psycho? why was it made? were fans expecting a updated but nothing has changed version of the original series? the move was great. and the hot rod enterprise fits the film perfectly!!

  • The new movie establishes a whole new canon and the so called "new Enterprise" is a part of that! like a mutated version of the refit Enterprise! I heard that the difference in design (inside and out) was a result of future technology polluting the timeline the real Chronoclasm would appear to be the USS Kelvin! that should be of original design because that existed before the changes in the timeline.

  • the first design is better than that trash(naccels suck so bad)'

  • Why couldn't they just keep the model of the Enterprise the same?

  • that whole movie sucked it made no sense at all and the only thing that was good was the acting.

  • The movie was good, but sorry all you lemmings that adore ANYTHING Trek, but the ship is butt ugly...nuthin to do with effects, or budgets, or writers, or directors, or canon, or franchise, or history, or any of the other million things all of the "Trek 2009" fanatics throw around. Plain and simple...its just ugly, not attractive...it may serve its purpose, but its UGLY. Thats all this vid is pointing out. All the money spent, and THIS is all they come up with? UGLY!!!

  • dude the new star trek movie i just awsome including the ship so stfu and delete this stuff

  • Wouldn't the Defiant be a betrayal to both the fans and the creator of Star Trek? Throwing in a warship seems to betray the very ideals of Star Trek.

  • @Meyosan you do know that the enterprise-e is a warship

  • @slate9878 According to the Official Cutaway poster, the Sovereign class is designated as an "Explorer type 2" and the secondary refers to it as a "Heavy Explorer", which makes the Enterprise-E no more of a warship than her predecessors.

  • @Meyosan

As Sisko said in the episode "The Search", in season 3. "Desperate times call for desperate measures" as movieking88 qouted also. When against an seamingly unstoppable enemy, you do what you need to survive.

  • @Meyosan Sometimes even the most stalwart idealist meets someone he can't reason with. This is what happened to the Federation both with the Borg and the Dominion, If a warship was what was needed to face these enemies, then a warship was what should have been built.

  • @Meyosan The constitution class was a warship/exploration vessel and starfleet itself was part military, in fact, before Star Trek VI, its primary operation was military.

This whole "starfleet never fights, ever" stuff only really came about when Rodenberry got very ill and his wife started jumping all over the canon. The original "ideal" was that starfleet strives for peace but could defend if needed.

  • @Meyosan Not necessarily. Part of the change that humanity made to advance socially and technologically was made on the basis of necessity because there simply was no alternative. The Defiant-Class is a ship of necessity, its limited Federation Idealism in its construction just gives it more of a punch to protect the true principles of the Federation, after all, not all science vessels have the weapons of a Galaxy-Class ship.

  • @Meyosan As Sisko said, desperate times calls for desperate measures. Starlfeet needed a ship that was designed to engage and defeat the Borg, and sadly a warship was the best choice.

As we found out, a Defiant class didn't stand well against a Borg cube, but it held its own.

  • @Meyosan As far as the Defiant betraying Star Trek fans and even Roddenberry, himself, the thinking is well explained in DS9 (season 3, episode 1). It is actually a "necessary evil" that proved to be necessary in so many ways that the evil is negligible, if present at all. There is a time for every purpose under heaven: a time for war, a time for peace. . .

  • @Meyosan

no because the defiant was designed specifically to fight off a borg invasion .. .

  • @Meyosan

You are telling the truth but have you watched DS9? The Dominion is the only faction that can't be bullied, or bargained with there was no other choice but to fight to the last man.

  • @smcneal057 DS9 was crap, when it came to inconsistency in Star Trek technology, it took the cake, the characters were dull and lifeless, they didn't have any real weaknesses, hell, they missed a good storyline with Sisko and Picard over the death of Sisko's wife.

  • @Meyosan

I take it you only watched the series once...Give it another chance and you will see that DS9 pushed some boundaries in Star Trek.

  • @smcneal057 You are absolutely right. I couldn't stand DS9 when it first came out. However, as an adult now, I realize I missed a real treasure. Especially after dealing with Voyager. Not that I hate Voyager, DS9 simply has better, more engaging stories.

  • @Phantom121904

When I was a teenager I hated DS9 at first, and stopped watching it. Ten years later I was done watching BSG, and was talking about it with a friend and he said I would love DS9. I recoiled and said all these things about it but he convinced me to watch it again. When season 3 came around I was hooked on it because I saw how it set everything up in the first two seasons and season 3 all hell broke lose. I love how Worf came and changed a lot about DS9. I see how DS9 changed all.

  • @Meyosan To be fair, the Defiant-class was officially an "escort" ship and primarily designed to repel Borg invasions. That's why it was so overpowered for it's size; small ship = harder to hit and massive firepower = can hurt a cube lots before it adapts its shields.

Of course, as we saw in First Contact, that didn't help much, but still... The point is, the Defiant was specifically designed to combat the Borg. I don't see it as a betrayal at all.

  • @Meyosan

that might be, but in the dominion war the defiant did play a good part in order to fight them off and still bring peace

  • it was originally designed to combat the Borg but never did in the original DS9 series run but finally did in the first contact movie

  • @Meyosan If you watch why they made it, you will understand. Watch the whole series of DS9, its not as bad as I thought

  • @Meyosan It is. Rick Berman is a dick.

  • @jimbopumbapigsticks No he isn't. The Execs at Paramount are!

  • @Meyosan LOL! But isn't it STILL a great ship design? I always felt that Starfleet was always letting itself get shafted by the other races in the galaxy. Other races can develop cloaking technology but we can't, etc, etc... *rolls eyes*

Defiant too me was a sign that Starfleet had finally woken up and smelled the coffee. :p

  • @Meyosan I realize this post was made nearly a year ago, but I had to respond. You do realize that the NCC-1701 was a type II battle cruiser, don't you? A war ship.

  • @marqmajere No, friend. The Constitution class was type 1, designed for five-year missions of diplomacy and exploration. Everyone knows that from the original series intro! :p memory-alpha . org/wiki/Constitution_class

  • @crazy88boss Sorry. I meant type I "heavy" crusier. Starfleet didn't want to be know for any kind of war mongering, like the klingons so they called them heavy crusiers instead of battle crusiers. Kirk won most of the time because he had the big guns. The Mark IX class ships were authorized by the original articles of federation of stardate 0965.

  • @Meyosan Actually, with a still ongoing discussion of whether Defiant had 4 or 5 decks, how long it was (varies from source to source) the fact that the hatch for entering is MISSING from the ship model and ship diagrams, but we saw it docked at DS9 as if there were a hatch, the argument over if it has landing gear or not.. Defiant IS a betrayal to the fans of Trek in MANY ways. The new Enterprise IS different.. it is INTENDED to be different! i am sorry that some people cannot accept that?

  • @Meyosan keep in mind that the main reason for the defiant class warship is to fight the dominion and its allies.

  • Good lord I am so sick and tired of seeing a bunch of whiners bitching and nitpicking over what is and isn't "canon" in every single Star Trek video I go to! This butthurt fanboyism is what killed the franchise.

  • @Meyosan The Defiant was designed to fight the Borg.

Plus... Worf was it's captain, do you think he would stand for an exploration vessel!?

  • I love soverreign class ship!!!

  • You hate the Trek 2009 Enterprise but you like the Galaxy and Constellation classes ??

Hey Stevie, when is your next cd coming out because you must be blind !

  • If this had been the original design, and they changed it to the ship we all refer to you would have the same complaints. She is still the Enterprise and they have kept Trek alive! I for one am greatfull! It cracks me up when fans find ways to complain about this design but in listing ships they love list the Enterprise -D. Had Abrams come up with that design people would have really flipped. Odd shapped saucer bigger then the secondary hull, short nacells ect ect.... STOP CRYING!

  • @dion1701e THANK YOU! Ungrateful bastards the lot of them. Im a bigass trek fan, and i loved the original but i also loved the new ship because it they way it was designed fit right in with the rest of the movie. In the same way the original fit in with the series at that time. Still they complain crist even william the original kirk approved of the new ship, and that kinda says it all dosent it?

  • I never liked the new engine design. why would you put thrusters on the nacelles? that would create additional moment stress on the points where the nacelles are joined to the stems and the stems to the body of the ship. Though it would suggest incredible ship integrity its just not very economical to have to make the ship have to hold together just on regular travel.

  • I think the new design is pretty sexy, however I wouldn't have positioned the neck supporting the saucer so far back on the drive section. But she's the new USS Enterprise, so we will get used to her, I reckon. It's an alternate timeline, after all.

  • those fuckers made it look gay

  • @chevron8locked Your Right, they should have stayed with the original design both inside and outside. And do we really need all the special effects that made the movie great. I think not, hell lets go back and remake star trek 1 through 10 and take away the budget and heck lets go back and re-do all the series to the the Originals budget. What, what am I saying.... Checron your brain dead... I dont think many people would pay money to see a low budget star trek.

  • @Darkeslayer

you know what a good ship disgn be, voyager+enterprise E

  • @chevron8locked my idea of a good design of a ship would be to have the promethiuses multie vector assult mode, the speed of voyager, the fire power of the enterprise e and the hull and shape of excelcior

  • Congratulations.

  • You people do realise you are what is wrong with Trek right? Not the ship, not J.J. Abrams (who btw did a pretty good job) it is you people. Star Trek was dead. It was dying with Voyager and by Enterprise had run out of ideas. It should have died there but through a combination of Trekkies refusing to accept the demise of the franchise and Paramount losing the Marvel franchise they needed something new that would make money and be popular so this is it. Its that or no new Trek. So deal with it.

  • @whatthefk Thank you very much for that. I've been arguing with Trekkers since the movie was released. Mostly about the holy "canon". But you made it simple and basic. That's what it comes down to. They milked the franchise dry and decided to whip a dead horse with a "radical" director. So let's blame J.J. for reviving something that was twice dead (sarcasm there). Thanks again.

  • hmmm, better :)

  • The alternate title is how to make an "ugly" ship even uglier.

  • i like the new ship, didn't see much of it in the movie is my only complaint, i do prefer the red glow of the engines tho, but the whole red and blue glow thing didnt come in till the enterprise D and onwards, the film is set before that so it makes sense not to colour them as the original startrek movies never did.

  • @COMMANDERPLOP

But in the original series the bussard collectors, of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, were red in color. Not blue as shown in the new movie {yuck}.

  • @fmscribs Not correct. The bussard collectors were not even glowing or have any sort of illumination what so ever when Christopher Pike was in command. And the bussard collectors were not red, they were a pink/orange colour. Or with different colours including yellow, red and orange.

  • I think the refitted Enterprise from STTMP is the prettiest ever Enterprise. The 2009 rebooted Enterprise is ok though. As long as it's roughly shaped like a woman giving birth I suppose.

  • Do you know what's wrong with the new Enterprise? I'll tell you.

When they redesigned her for "The Motion Picture" she was like a beautiful woman in a slender black dinner dress. Very sexy, elegant, great lines & just perfect.

This ship is like looking at one of those overly ripped weight lifting chicks. Sure she might be a woman on the inside but you say to yourself, "man, that could be a guy" or "That's a little too much steroid usage."

Either way....she ain't beautiful anymore. RIP

  • Apparently, the movie was built for the general public. If it was built for fans, the movie would be a block-buster failure (it doesn't work that way in the 21st century) and the franchise would probably be only a cult-phenomena.

  • @SouthernRiprey

Wasn't it "the fans" that carried Star Trek to over 40 years of air time...TV and the big screen ?

I believe the producers from TNG were just burnt out of ideas when it came to making more TV shows & movies. Also Berman & company were TV guys. They didn't transition well to the big screen. And IMO the same can be said about JJ, too. His movies aren't good either. Convoluted and contrived scripts, lens flares, shaky camera, and too much action & little character development.

  • @fmscribs Unfortunately, that's the reason why the new movie was a success.

  • I like the design personally, but does anybody notice that half the ship's a fucking boiler room?

  • I'm not gonna lie...the Galaxy class is my favorite Enterprise.

  • @Carpathia1086 I'm gonna lie. Voyager was an acceptable ship.

  • @Shapes547 Still, it figures they'd give the first female Captain of a Star Trek series the one that's shaped like a vibrator.

  • @KevServo Must have been a gift from Jeri Taylor. In every interview, she describes Janeway as being the greatest female role model. Taylor single-handedly dealt a body blow to feminism by calling a sociopath a role model for women. Assuming of course anyone actually cared about Voyager.

  • I think that the biggest problem a lot of Star Trek fans have with the movie is, if you are going to make a "hip and cool" Sci-Fi series... make your own. Don't take a franchise with a pretty solid fanbase and change it up on them. Now having said that, I love that movie. And to all the fans who missed the "Star Trek message", the PTB did say that (paraphrase) this was pretty much a pilot and that they would be focusing on a more "Star Trek" story for the next film.

  • The Refit Enterprise from TWOK has been and always shall be my favorite incarnation of the USS Enterprise!! The 2009 Enterprise wasn't all that bad, but I do like how your photoshopped version looks a little better. Still, I do like the fact that they're bringing back Kirk (albeit w/a different, younger actor portraying him) & the rest of the TOS crew.

  • More action, humor, some sex appeal...it's what star trek needed. No more boring peace talks, preachy messages about saving the whales, and setting phasers to stun. The new Enterprise isn't bad, and if it were up to the uber-dork superfans out there that really need to get laid, they would have used the original 1960's series Enterprise (including the dated-60's bridge), captured Nero and half the movie would have been a trial at Starfleet Command that we would have had to sit through.

  • the ship at 0:48 is the eiqunox from star trek voagyer

  • Aww why no intrepid class ? :(

  • yep she looks like it was a kiddie fisher/price toy sad day for the franchise

  • the 2009 ship was at the time the hightst teck and btw the ship is now bigger than the soverine which is pretty big so when u see it as a big ship u can easly see it as being that shape for a reason... but i duno

  • yep looks a whole lot better (btw I work in the VFX industry)...

  • I Love The New Bridge. I dont like the nacelles on this thing. But you couldnt have the original TOS model in a film released in 2009. You forget that this film is a REBOOT!

  • Reboot as in "Right in the Family jewels". Yes, you don't need the original in a "Reboot", but the design just sucks. The Kelvin is kind of a somewhat ugly ship, but it fits more into the Star Trek Cannon than the J.J. Fuglyprise does.

  • @TheMusicIndustry WTF why couldnt we have the same enterprise. shes quite nice with all this new tec we have layn around that bridge was lame as fuck and the camera made my head spin.

  • I agree. The bussard collectors of the Enterprise in the new movie should have been red. It was still a good movie though. And this is coming from a die hard Trekker. Take the movie for what it is. It was either enjoy this movie, or accept the death of Star Trek as a whole.

  • hell ye! much better!!!!

  • superb job, the 'new' enterprise was good but have made it look special! now can you work your magic on the rest of the movie?

  • It's a little bit better. I like how you moved back the front of the secondary hull {where the deflector dish is} but you might have moved it back just a tad too much. But better than them sticking it way out. I also liked how you made the secondary hull a little fatter on the bottom like the original. But I still think where the nacelle struts meet the hull its just to thin. That concaved part should come AFTER the struts not before. The original movie refit is still the best overall Ent.

  • Really like your refit. Although, if you could remove the red reflection on the inner nacelle pylon and top surface of secondary hull above the shuttle bay reckon it'd be better. But loved it!

  • Nice piece of work, but I do like the new Enterprise. I don't think it's ugly at all! I've been a fan for 37 years and think the reboot's great!

  • who in their right mind would design a ship like the enterprise and give it the ability to land on a planet. would not have been the right design for such a job. voyager made more sense, but the landing struts kind of looked dorky. you people have to keep in mind that part of the reason star trek was such a good show was roddenberry's ideas were actually tempered or altered either because of circumstance or through the intervention of others(for example the propose ep the god machine)

  • Why is it everyone hates the new Enterprise?

I quite like the new version, it might be a bit too modern, but it looks better than the old movie version, I didn't like the shape of the nacelles on that ship.

Still everyone's entiled to an opinion. :-)

    Great vid.

  • i too like the new one :)

  • Because the new "J.J. Enterprise" is just ugly both inside and out, and no amount of lens flare will ever make it look good.

  • @GIRlovesWaffles Fair enough. Like I said, eveyone's entitled to their opinion!" :-)
