  • so muy thai and kick boxing how are they different

  • @matrixlone kickboxing only has 4 points of contact.. the arms and the legs

Muay thai has 8 points of contact...1. Arms 2. Elbows. 3. Knees 4. Shins

  • @matrixlone muay thai uses more elbows, knees and they heave klinching.the kicks are thrown to breake legs and ribs, not just to point.kickboxing is faster and uses more diferent kicks but no leg kicks.

  • What happens when the guy fakes and now your head is out and your legs are back? Check the kick it'll do damage to him as well and then return with a kick of your own.

  • YES ,

HOWEVER THAT IS VERY ELEMENTRY .

A TRUE FEEMUR LEVEL TECHNICAL WITH EXPERT TIMMING WILL CHOSE TO KNEE THE INCOMMING KICK WITH THE VERY UPPER SHIN OR USE THE **KNEE CAP *.. THIS IS EITHER SAME SIDE OR CROSS SIDE .. YOU WINDE UP VERY CLOSE TO THE OPPONENT SO YOU BETTER KNOW YOUR STUFF AND CAPATLIZE ON THE SITUATION!!

DUKE IS OK.BUT ITS EXTREAMLY BASIC .

EVERY ONE LEARN AND PRACTICE STAND UP ONLY GRECO ROMAN WRESTLING FOR GOOD CLINCHING SKILL,YES G-R IS THE SHORT CUT!

    BECOME FEEMUR

  • It would be easier if you pivot your body and attack your opponent's knee with a kick or knee strike! The targeted leg is protected by the opposite leg. That way you can immobilize him for a while and pound the shit out of him!

  • I like the videos, but i cant stand they way he talks?! is he retarded or something?

  • Ya I sparred with him a long time ago, for a guy that's 220+ he moves like a light weight, his flow and control is A+++ he taught me a lot.

  • i sparred duke hes real good

  • We have a similer technique in gojuryu karate.

  • calling something thats thousands of years old and that has been used in military training programs around the world gay is immature. grow up man

  • Tell that to Lyoto Machida.

  • :D i cant decide who i want to win machida or sugar :( i love them both

  • like my instructor always tells me. the best way to block a kick is to move and not have to block it in the first place. some people belive that you can magically block every attack but you cant. even if you block a strike with an arm or leg it still hurts and will wear you down as the fight goes on or even just break the blocking tool altogether especially when trying to block kicks theres just to much power in them.

  • When your leg makes contact with your attackers kick you absorb the kick and then like spring recoil the kick back out this will through him off balance and allow you to set up punch and kick combinations.

  • Unless you've conditioned your shins to the level of checking a low 9 or 10 w/out pads, I'd suggest getting the fuck out of the way, which is what he's trying to show for you ppl talking shit.

  • You guys suck! Stop trying to sound like you know what your talking about!!! Just cuz youv been in a MMA gym once or twice so far and youv watched a few fights doesnt make you an expert..wheres your fuckin video on this? Everbody thinks there a "Ulitamate Fighter" now and they post comments saying the video is wrong..STFU! Ultimate Failures!!!

  • You have to be kidding me with these critiques of Duke's teaching. He is the younger brother of one of the best American kickboxers ever (Rick Roufus) and a great fighter and trainer in his own right. He has trained lots of amateur and pro fighters, so unless you've done the same, shut your piehole and listen.

  • For someone thats got videos of themselves playing tunes from video games on a piano, you sure talk a good fight. Hows about putting a video up of something a little less geeky before you shoot your mouth off?

  • Block a Muay Thai kick with your arm? Good way to get it broken. and forget about checking with your shin if you have zero training and conditioning in Muay Thai. The idea is to get out of the way or switch feet and maybe prepare a counter attack. You have to be aware how much power that kick can generate and how quick it can be thrown at full tilt. Shins and a steel cup prevent groin shots and or stray kicks.

  • At 1:15 he could have gotten the kick in the nuts. When you evade, make sure you evade completely.

  • He did evade completely, the striker was already fully extended.

  • or u cud just block it xxx

  • With your leg or your hands? If with your hands, that isn't a good idea.

  • Exactly, as topiashakur said it is hard if not impossible to take someone down after you have just put everything into a low kick...lol dumbasses.

  • rick rufus his brother becom the hate of a thaifighter, and his legs were destroyed

  • this move is better than checking the kick. It puts you in a good position to sprawl if you need to defend the takedown. I rather move away if I can then block. I've seen lots of broken bones from guys just blocking a shot.

  • I've also seen a few vids of broken shins from a check.. I never knew of a broken bone from checking.

  • Well needless to say anytime bone hits bone theres the possibiity of a breakage. Guys in MMA get broken hands, broken arms, broken legs all the time just from blocking strikes.

  • this sets you up for a takedown and you have no balance after, i'd just check the kick

  • Hi! how are you? thank you for posting the video? I would like to buy the DVD, how do I do that? I went the website but couldn't find it.

    thank you

  • all beginner must see,not for intermediate&advance stage.

  • I guess i would rather block a right kick. The stance you are in after evasion is very bad isn`t it?

  • Yah I was thinking that blocking by raising the leg would be easier and safer, it kinda looks like you're asking to be knocked out or taken down after that evasion.

  • nar your both wrong.i'll tell you's why.gaathlain when you low kick, theres so much momentum going into it,when you evade it like this the momentum of the kick either carries them around or the least they have to bring there leg back to there stance which takes longer then the evade because all your doing is puting your lead leg back and then right back forward again which you can do very fast which is why fighters use this evasive technique so much

  • The evasion is supposed to make the opponent miss and leave him off balance like the dude in the video. It's not likely he would miss the kick and recover fast enough to take you down or punch again before you yourself could move

  • can you post more plz

  • wooooo!

  • dont scream bitch !

  • very good tips, I like your series a great deal.

  • know one is that fast two pull both legs back because the kick is faster then this guy puts it
