  • @TheRenRunner Where's your video?

  • I find it hard to believe that that smallie is over 8lbs, I caught many 5 to 6 lbs in my life, and this one looks about the same size as the onesI caught. My biggest catch was a 6lbs 3oz, 23"!

  • Nice fish

  • NICE CATCH WISH I COULD CATCH A SMALLMOUTH THAT BIG

  • makes me smile every time i watch this joe bucher is my hero

  • thats a beautiful fish. Thats one big pig

  • I saw first hand someone catch a 7 1/2lb smallie up here in CT which is close to the record and that thing was a monster!! That fish is close but im guessing 6.75-7lbs. Still a great catch no doubt about it!

  • Awesome!!

  • I've landed numerous smallies out of the walkill river in the 4-5 lb range and 20" is about all they measured. This fish is long man look at it!! 6.5 to 7lb easy. Nice smallie

  • smallmouth bass in florida...........they sure as hell dont occur naturally there.........nor in southern california/arizona.................next people will be bragging about the peacock bass they caught in pennsylvania..........

  • @agricola lol

  • where were you fishing? What river?

  • That fish was maybe a mid 6 fish. Maybe !!!

  • Is that Joe Bucher?

  • I've caught a 5 pounder that was 18". That is a huge freaking fish.

  • WHOA what a toad!

  • nice fish

  • over 8lb smallie....i'd loved to have seen that one in person

  • Wisconsin's got some really nice bass all over the northern lakes. Large and small mouths

  • @34bighitter

I can vouche for that. Have you ever been on Chequamegon Bay on Lake Superior? It has some of the best smallie fishing in the midwest

  • @redraider5600 Im gonna half to go take a trip there sometime!

  • Nice to hear someone catch a big fish with some emotion and joy out of it! Most fishing videos nowadays contain little excitement; the guy will catch a huge fish and go "Yep, there's another big fish, big deal ..." but that ruins it for me. Seeing a vid like this with someone who cares about their catch is great! Thanks :)

  • This isn't some bragging Internet idiot, this guys legit. Awesome fish! I don't know what people are thinking doubting the size. It's a beautiful fish and congrats to the guy who caught it!

  • nice fish! what were u using a tube?

  • @unbelevaman He was using a Reaper.

  • is that bill dance???

  • @socalstrikes lol ... i think .. back in the day

  • Comment removed

  • anyone who thinks that thing is under 6lb. needs to stop pretending to be anglers.beautiful fish man,kvd would be proud!

  • Lol. I've caught many smallies bigger than that. Guy acts like he just set the world record or something.

  • He knew the weight and the length even before he saw that it was a smallmouth..wow..lol

  • he already knows its 23-24 inches and 8 lbs before he even finds out its a smallmouth? humm well ok.. Nice catch anyways.

  • @rosiviperz haha good point

  • @rosiviperz It was just a good guess. Immediately following this, the video shows him

doing all the measuring, twice, and then he releases it.

  • @rosiviperz this just tells how much you don't know about fishing. Pro Fisherman can guestimate the length and pound of the fish. Use common sense and ask yourself how old this guy is.

  • Comment removed

  • @dookiekong007 I am pro and live beside one of the best sm bass reservoirs in the world, ps quit favoriting all those girley videos and start fishing

  • @rosiviperz once you have alot of experience catching fish its not to tough to guess the size of the fish. sounds impossible , but theres nothing to it

  • @erecttron yeah, i can watch them hit topwater and tell large or smallmouth, and just by the way they strike my crankbait i can tell what kind and how big it is...

  • the only think is you have to watch that they are not wormie!

  • theres smallmouth in falcon in texas were water temps get into the mid 90s

  • @spencerfishon6464 and they probably all die off when the water temps get that high....along with all the other fish........hence the constant stocking

  • I didn't say anything about California of Arizona. I said FLORIDA !!!!!

  • dude we have smallies in cali and az .u are flat out wrong

  • @QB7940 and we got smallmouth in Lake Berryessa in nor cal, as well as spots and largemouth

  • thats a once in a lifetime (or a cpl at the most) smallmouth!!!! great job!

  • ummmmm... last time i checked my line.... small mouth live in SO CAL, some warmer spots in oregon and AZ.. Have u ever caught a fish .. Anyone saying there aren't smallies in warmer places are obviously ignorant..... I mean maybe a little different than Minnesota, but believe me. If a lake is purchasing "smallmouths" for stocking purposes.... they are there. Fish have the choice to stay near the chillier part of the thermocline, which is called the hypolimnion. MEANMOUTHS = smallie X blackbass

  • @rowdyMR I'm not talking about meanmouth, tigers, shoal, spots or any of the black bass with smaller mouths than the largemouth. I'm talking about smallmouth bass. The Florida Game and Fish tell me there are no smallmouth bass in Florida. The Biologists tell me that the water temps get too high in the summer time for them to survive and reproduce. I have done my research. It's amazing how you guys know more than the biologists. The biologist told me that Pickwick was the southernmost place.

  • @rowdyMR For your information, I've been bass fishing all over the country for years. There is no Thermocline in the Florida lakes because the water is too shallow. I didn't say anything about those states you mentioned. I said FLORIDA. I didn't say anything about Meanmouths either. I said SMALLMOUTHS !!

  • @Whodatmanis he lives in north Florida it snows there and the pond is massive and never gets above 70degrees and we brought them down from northern New York so um yeah suck it

  • @MrStewPadasle Whatever dude.

  • @MrStewPadasle It snows in south MS sometimes too, but it gets up 100 degrees in the summer and stays that way for nearly 3 months causing water temps reach 90 degrees or more. Florida is no different as far as climate is concerned. It may even be hotter in the summer.

  • @MrStewPadasle sorry to burst your bubble but snow is EXTREMELY RARE in florida and there is NOWHERE in florida that NEVER gets above 70..........you sir, have certified yourself as a grade A moron.

  • I catch 3-7 pound smallmouth on a regular basis

  • @whodatmanis um ok let's c northern Florida in a stocked fish pond it was a small mouth I know because they was stocked in the pond by my uncle so

  • @MrStewPadasle Whatever. He must dump ice in his pond on a regular basis. SMALLMOUTH CANNOT SURVIVE THAT FAR SOUTH !!! DO SOME RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF !!!! THE FISH THEY CALL SMALLMOUTHS IN FLORIDA ARE SHOAL BASS !!!! THEY ARE NOT TRUE SMALLMOUTHS !!!!!!!

  • Ed: The biggest smallmouth in history was 27 inches, which was barely under 12 lbs. Your 6 pound 25 inch smallmouth is total horseshit.

  • i had a smallmouth bass that measured 25 inches, and it weighed a little under 6 lb when i weighed it. So yours is probably closer to 5-6 lb... not 7 and not even close to "approaching 8" like the clown below me thinks.

  • Do I dare add to the greatest SMB sitcom of all time (i.e. this thread)? Any comments of '3 to 4' or '10 to 11' are posted by clowns, which is fine. The best view of fish is when he lifts it out of the net. Freeze one of those frames. If you've ever caught big SM you will know that this fish is a bare minimum of 6, probably 7 and just maybe approaching 8. End of story.

  • "ohhh my gosshhhhh folkssssssss"

  • its a nice fish but looks more in the range of 4-6 lbs

  • @wilbeckj no it looks huge... 24 inches is 8 lbs

  • Respond to this video... not to mention that it is fat as fuck

  • The Smallmouth Bass is a highly sought-after game fish, but it does not occur in Florida. It ranges from Georgia and Alabama, north into Canada and to the northwestern states. Suwannee, Redeye, Shoal and Spotted Bass are "small-mouthed", but none of these are the actual, true Smallmouth. The Smallmouth habitat is very similar to the Spotted Bass and it has much more speed and stamina than the Largemouth family.

  • Well, the video's title would suggest that he actually weighed the fish after catching it to get an accurate weight. Whatever it's weight, that's a smallie of a lifetime!

  • Hey guys, not every fish that measures the same weighs the same, lets keep that in mind, no one on here can tell the weight of that thing perfectly by youtube video and its an absolute football.

  • Between 5 and 6 at best.

  • @Clueworm82 I bought an 18 and 1/2 inch small mouth in Florida And it wieghed 5lb. 10 oz.

  • @MrStewPadasle Liar! There are no smallmouth in Florida. They can't live this far south. If you're gonna lie, lie about something you know about. Idiot.

  • @whodatmanis bullshit! i live in sarasota FL. and catch smallmouth on a 6 inch worm texas rigged all day long

  • @CrazyBlue420 You are mistaken. Smallmouth bass are coldwater fish. The closest place to catch smallmouth is Pickwick Lake on the Tennessee River system. You need to learn the difference between a smallmouth bass and a largemouth bass. THERE ARE NO SMALLMOUTH IN FLORIDA. Google smallmouth bass and you'll see. IDIOT !

  • @whodatmanis there are stocking programs in florida for smallmouth bass, but i really doubt hecatches them all day long. and they only stock them in about 2-3 lakes

  • @TexanFishin The fish that they call smallmouths in Florida are actually Shoal bass. They call them smallmouth just like some old people around here call largemouth green trout. If smallmouth cannot survive in Central Mississippi, there is no way they can survive in Florida. The water is just too hot. Again, those are not true smallmouth, they are shoal bass.

  • @whodatmanis Smallmouth bass originally ranged north into Minnesota and southern Quebec, south to the Tennessee River in Alabama and west to eastern Oklahoma and southwestern Arkansas. Today there are few states, east or west of the Rocky Mountains, where populations have not become established. Florida and Louisiana are apparently free of smallmouth bass. In Texas the species has been stocked in numerous areas, particularly streams of the Edwards Plateau.

  • @CrazyBlue420 dude are you fucking dumb????? i live in PA in pittsburgh and its rare u catch a small mouth in a river in pgh. i need to go like an hour north to catch them and i live like a thousand miles north of florida!!! and you call urself a fisherman?!?!?

  • @whodatmanis He said he is in N. wisconcin, god listen before you post stuff like that.

  • @whodatmanis st 14 he says it is in northern wisconsin

  • in my experience a 23 inch bass would weigh about 5 - 5 1/2 lbs if its chunky. An 8 pounder would take a good 25+ inches. i got a 26 inch largemouth once but i didnt get to weigh it :(. If anyone wants to see pics of it to take a guess let me know.

  • don't claim how big it is until you weigh it on a scale

  • I think he is full of it too. I have caught at least 50 bass both large mouth and small mouth in the 7-8 lb. range and this fish doesn't look to be any bigger than 6.

  • This is not an 8 pound fish. Maybe 6, I caught a 5lb smallie yesterday, and it was only a fraction smaller than this fish.

  • @canmoore You never know man, there isnt much of a diffrence from 6-8 pounds, that bass could be 8 pounds no doubt.

  • lol.. how could he know how long the fish is if he didnt even see it......he was surprised it was a smallmouth that prooves he didnt even see the fish.....regardless awesome fish, he would be on my wall.

  • Man she is full of eggs. That is definitely 8 pounds

  • how is it with every fish some pro catches its the biggest heyve ever caught? and always a monster?

  • ok I'm not here to argue, but you can't tell how big it its already, I thought it was anywwhere from 5-7

  • 3-4 pounds is a ridiculous guess, I've been guiding for giant smallies on Lake Simcoe in Canada for the past 6 years and I would put that fish at around 6 pounds, but its so hard to tell by a video.

  • @steverowbotham nice comment on smallmouth any tips for bwca august time please tell me

  • HA 8 lbs 5 oz? give me a break, that is one huge smallmouth but it is not 8 lbs. typical youtube poster bragging about bullshit

  • 8lbs. did it swallow a 3lb perch?

  • Wow I caught a 23-1/2 incher this season, which weighed in at close to 5 lbs. Mine was just as fat, if not more than this one. There is No way that fish is 8 and a half pounds

  • that's definitely 8 lbs

  • now thats a smallie

  • no that is about 7. i have caught many 6 and 7's and that is def 7 mayb 8 who knows...

  • This is 6 pounds

  • i catch a lot of big ones and that is what he says

  • Dude, that fish is like 2 and a half feet long, and it's belly is stuffed! Likely an egg-bound female. Definitely around 7-8 lbs.

  • @mmmmmarcus

    2 and a half feet...?

    75 cm my ass!

    Maybe 60 cm.

  • @ManicMindTrick Ive caught Sargo that were less than 15 inches that weighed 5 pounds. the whole point is, you cant judge the weight of a fish by length. Only armchair enthusiasts that pretend to be anglers do what you do.

  • @mmmmmarcus

    Maybe you are right.

    I'm no armchair enthusiast tho.

    Skitfiske på dig!

  • Ive caught a lot of smallies and dont doubt that fish is 8-5, Nice catch!

  • caught my first smallie ever here in upstate NY. I cant get enough of this video. wow.

  • he cummed his pants

  • Everyone needs to just take the guy's word for it that it was 8lbs. Unless you were there or are a fucking fish guessing genious shut the hell up.

Nice fish. I live in wisco... What lake did you catch her on?

  • @bsballhobber Are you serious? This was from a fishing show. This isn't personal video.

  • about 7 and 1/2 not 8

  • @xXcam0manXx haha... 7.5 not 8. Whatever you say there Bob Izumi...

  • Folks, you cant just guess the weight of a fish on video or just even a picture. Im sure up in person you can definatly see that this fish would've been every bit of 8lbs. If the fish had not had a belly it may have gone 6.5-7.5lbs.

I have 4-5lb spotted bass on video and they look like they're 2-3lb fish. Videos or pictures dont do much justice sometimes.

  • That's one ugly

Lookin smallie , up in Canada there way more of a fight even at a pound an they look way nicer

  • How could he guess the length of the fish before discovering it's a smallie? And I'd bet against an 8lb class... maybe 5 or so.

  • You said you were in Northern Wisconsin. I fish up there all the time. What lake where you fishing?

  • no way its 8 pounds

  • @copperspook Look at the girth. It's tremendous. It's very close to 8, but more likely 6 or 7. Certainly not 3-4.

  • No way is he 24" or 8 lbs,15" 4-5 lbs yes....

  • prolly 5 to 6 not no 8

  • i've been fishing with the mimic minnow with great results getting smallmouth in puddingstone lake ca................

  • anyone know the best lure for smallmouth?

  • wow! nice bass

  • nice smallmouth my largest catch and release is 6 and a half pounds

  • 7-8 is more accurate than 10-11... Largemouth bass tend to be heavier for their length. I caught a 24 inch largemouth that weighed only 6lb 11oz. This fish was fat but not 4 extra pounds fta. Nice fish.

  • How bout that for a big fish lie huh?? Gotta get out and fish more...that fish was not 8 lbs ...it was 10 maybe 11 for sure... I`ll put my boat ownership on it.

  • dude, u woulda lost your boat. it was 23 inches long 17 in girth. i got a largemouth 25 long 20 inches in girth and it was 9.9 pounds. that aint 10 or 11

  • id say 5 to 6 po8unds but still a good fish

  • at least 7 breh

  • that fuckin thing was 5 punds tops!!

  • my jaw just hit the ground lol nice catch

  • amazing, i can easily belive that fish was 8 pounds.

  • I'm skeptical, not 8lb 5oz, no way to my eyes. Maybe 6lb 8oz, not a drop more. More like on it's way to six lb but not quite. I'm just saying my opinion, no offense to the angler in the video.

  • Nice job
