I bought this exact laptop around Christmas 2007 for $400 from Best Buy. It serves well for my basic needs, it runs World of Warcraft fine with this basic setup. A little sluggish at times, but overall a great starter laptop or a laptop for web browsing. Great buy for beginners or students who need a very basic laptop.
when you said that you could not upgrade the ram, that statement is false, i took this computer apart, it contains 2 512 mb ddr2 cards, which can each be replaced with 1 gig ddr2 ram cards... this means that it is in fact upgradable to 2 gigs of ram
also, there are power options that will change the life of the battery, like power saver mode that will sustain the batery life for longer than mentioned, it will however reduce the performance... wut i was really wondering was if i could get an upgraded video card, i have an external usb soundblaster video card that allows me to take advantage of my sound system, but after i get another gig of ram i'm going to need an upgraded video card, does anybody know if a video card upgrade is available?

Could you tell me what is the sound chip, network chip in this laptop?
because i think these series comes with a conexant soundchip which dont have drivers for windows XP. And the network chip is a realtek one (which i personally do not like).
I thought of getting a HP COMPAQ 6735b do you know anything about that?
