what ever you do dont inhale that gas produced from the teflon, it is one of the most toxic substances. The smallest inhalation will sicken you for days. It happed to me last month.
@PoopSwindler Uh, that's not true.... Teflon is really not that dangerous. Cooking oil emits more toxic gasses than teflon, and at a lower tempurature.
@JaycubL teflon off gases at temperatures over 450. and it is increadable toxic gas, one chemical it emits is ten times more toxic than phosphine gas used as a chemical weapon. I inhaled one small breath of the gas and was very sick for 3 days. Dupont is very aware of this as they had test subjects smoke cigarettes with a small amount of teflon in the 50s. I did not realize how toxic it was before i was poisoned, be very careful.
Im glad you dont think teflon is less dangerous than cooking oil when overheated, id love to know where you get this information.
Try google ptfe go to the wickepedia article then follow the links at the bottom of the page on ofgas products - if you still think teflon, ptfe is safe - bully for you
I have known about that flash powder and I've done enough tests with sulfate flash powders to know they can compete with anything. But I don't have any CuSO4 except what I made the other day and it is still in the water it was made in.
I will try it as soon as I get good copper sulfate, but I will use magnalium instead of magnesium. Do you think that will work fine?
might be... idk :P but the anhydrous.. man.. just made a firecracker with it, took the last bit from the paper and storm light' it.. even more powerful than kmno4 mg.. i would say the best way to light it is with a really hot flame, that it becomes red hot glowing for really short time and then bang :P wonder how potassium sulfate would work?? cesium sulfate (=< could be cool to make some other sulfate.. like potassium.. might be even better than copper?
When you make nitric acid by reacting a nitrate salt with sulfuric acid you are left with water nd a sulfate salt, that might be a good source of sulfates.
Magnesium sulfate is easy to buy but it has a lot of water in it.
the best way to get nitric acid will be with HCl and a nitrate salt (: boil it down to really high concentration and take away the Cl crystals it should be pure enough to react with silver and such.. its damn easy to make HNO3 :D
ooh.. (: chemistry is exiting.. sounds great about the magnesium :P post a video of the MgSO4!! sounds really interesting, save some of your best batch for comparing with CuSO4 anhydrous.. btw did you make the MgSO4 anhydrous the same way as with CuSO4?
the k2so4 thing.. you think it will work with weak H2SO4 too? and magnesium into H2SO4?
Chemistry is exciting! I'm working on taking video of the MgSO4.
To dry the MgSO4 I just put some epsom salt on a piece of foil and held a lighter flame under it until it stopped boiling. I think if you heat CuSO4 to strongly it turns into CuO.
I think weak H2SO4 should be fine. I don't know what happens if you put Mg into H2SO4, mabey MgSO4 and H2?
By the way I finaly finished my sodium chlorate this morning, I try to make some AM and flash powder with it.
dude!!!! NaClO3 is EXTREMELY sensitive and REALLY powerful as armstrongs mix!!!! search skyisthelimitinc armstrongs mix or ARMSTRONGS MIX DETONATING DRYBREAD
he got some private videos.. ask him if you can see them.. was flagged.. :/ tiny tiny amounts of NaClO3 AM just making holes in cans like nothing!!
well i think eckick made a video about how to make CuO search eckick copper oxide (:
that was how i tried to make it, but got alot better stuff.. al foil is really useful (:
well take a can and put a LITTLE in it.. like just cover the surface.. then make a lil fire and place it on the hot glows and start up some fire around it just to keep the glows (: but how you made cuso4? copper into h2so4?!
I made the CuSO4 by putting some scrap Cu into a mixture of H2SO4 and H2O2. Then I boiled off some of the water and let it cool. CuSO4 precipitated, and I poured the blue liquid into another container.
I got rid of the trace of sulfuric acid left on the CuSO4 by mixing with some acetone, filtering, and drying it in front of a heater.
It is light green so I think it is somewhere between being full hydrated and being anhydrous. Heating makes it turn almost white or if it gets too hot, black.
@plrokster309 yes, tho the problem would be to find cupper nitrate s: therefore using copper electrodes in H2SO4 would be preferred.. (; or just letting it react slowly..
@antiswattt3 You can make CuNO3 by dissolving copper in Nitric Acid until the brown gas clears. The brown gas is Nitrogen Dioxide, so I seggust you do this reaction outside.
@plrokster309 and THATS one of the problems, too (: i think the only copper salt im able to get is cuso4, if lucky buying otherwise h2so4 + cu
tho i could use h2so4 + nh4no3 and then afterwards hno3 + cu, but then there would be impurities (nh4so4) unless i boil it down.. but the no2 gas could be reused by bubbling through water?
well dont use h2o2.. will make pirahna mix still which will make something else than copper sulfate, pure..
just heat it for long time.. just start a fire and wait for the glows, then place a can with a little in on the glows.. will take long time before it turns into CuO im making CuO by CuSO4 + NaOH now..

teflon?
mcwario13 1 month ago
@mcwario13 Fluorine is the strongest oxidizer and carbon is below Mg and Al on the reactivity series so it works like a thermite.
JaycubL 1 month ago
@JaycubL is it powdered already or do you make it into a powder?
mcwario13 1 month ago
@mcwario13 If you mean the teflon, I scraped it off of a pan to form powdery flakes, but a fine powder would of course be better.

woah! really heavy sound man.. o: have you tried anhydrous CuSO4 and magnesium? 1:1 trust me its as good as or even better than kmno4 + mg (:

Well I messing with MgSO4 flash powder right now and it seems to be working. Dehydrate by heating and mix with magnalium 1:1, it's REALY strong.
What I mean with the nitrate salt and sulfuric acid thing is to get the sulfate crustals after the nitric acid is distilled out.
2 KNO3 + H2SO4 -> K2SO4 + 2 HNO3
