I read that these etiquette/behavior/social conformity films were specifically to "retool" the WWII era teenager, who had major physical, mental, and even financial independence, turning them back into the docile, deferential, large-size child they were in the pre-war years (but prepared for an adulthood of conformity, consumption, and Cold War in the new era).
