I have been in your shoes.. Roehl Transport fired me because they said I was late on a delivery on a day I was off. I tried to tell them that but they threatened to call the police if I didn't shut up. All these companies act like tough guys but they do the most cowardly acts. But it was ok, I got a year and a half paid vacation out of it. Made me realize it was time to stop doing that trucking shit.

Hey Man I just want to say my friend went through the same thing with a trucking company. The were really bad on his hometime getting him home late and sending him out on loads early, the worst part of it was the company was always trying to get him to drive over his legal drivetime. When got another job he gave his two weeks notice and while on a load they told him to clean out his truck and go home. Good luck to you with other jobs. Keep Driving.

The driver has the final say what is legal, safe and alright to do. Would you like a 40ton vehicle changing lanes very quickly still traveling at the speed limit? all for a stupid video? Did you say you love your loved ones before you left the house this morning? How about a steer tire that blows out...(never had this happen to me) but from what I understand...the vehicle will immediately pull to the direction of the tire that blew out and is very hard to keep control of the vehicle till you can safety stop. BOTH hands are needed in this event. So if this driver is holding a camera in one hand and the other hand is holding the steering wheel...do you think he will have control of the vehicle when a steer tire blows out?
3) twice in my career...had driver's fail to "yield" the right away and hit my (both times) hit my right steer tire...the tire that steers or "leads the way".
Results....a temporary lost of control of the steering ability and some major side damage as the lug nuts of the steer tire...etch some new metal patterns into the side of the other vehicle.
the vehicle would have been dug till either being dislodged or the trailer tandems (the trailer wheels) would have literally driving over the vehicle itself.
Been told by other driver's that have done that...that it feels like the trailer drove over a large bump in the roadway.
2) car ignored my turn signal and ran underneath trailer. I didn't know this happened. The driver was in a hurry to turn right so attempted to squeeze past me via the curb and sidewalk. As I was turning...felt nothing. Hear a car horn and after stopping and getting out of the driver seat...say a small pickup truck being dug around the corner via my trailer tandems. The picked was moderately damaged, driver was uninjuried. IF I would have not heard that horn......
Having been out on the road for over 19 years, I can safety say I have been involved in a few accidents...all non-preventable...the other party was at fault.
1) car hit my ICC bar (that low hanging bar on the rear of the trailer)... it felt as if someone "bumped" my vehicle. The car front end was destroyed...driver was uninjuried.
Now with these points..think about it before praising this driver for the videos he posted. Put yourself or the ones you love in those cars around him when he is doing this "clearly" unsafe activity? If you need to stop quickly, would you like him to be paying attention and also reacting quickly or would you like to be literally run over by a 40 ton vehicle?
Holding a video camera, focusing it on the object he wishes to record...meaning most of the time he is not looking at the road "per say" while still traveling at 55 mph. If something happens, let say a child runs out into the roadway to catch his/her ball...do you think he will have time to react let alone stop if he is so engrossed into his camera and "catching the view"?

I quit Marten twice myself. I stayed out threw every holiday so the family guys could be home with there families and my only demand was home for Christmas. Then they only wanted to give me 8 hours home time. I don't think so! I worked there 4 1/2 years the first time, then 1 year after that. I'm not your mule to whip and I'm not your slave. I could not believe that they fired you! I used to be a trucker (Last drove for WSE-Willis Shaw Express, and now I am with my college job) and really missed those years behind the wheel. I have been in your shoes.. Roehl Transport fired me because they said I was late on a delivery on a day I was off. I tried to tell them that but they threatened to call the police if I didn't shut up. All these companies act like tough guys but they do the most cowardly acts. But it was ok, I got a year and a half paid vacation out of it. Made me realize it was time to stop doing that trucking shit.

I swore I was well within the company policy for late loads to this day dispite them trying to run me into the ground,but bam,got the qualcomm message to call in and that was the end. @IlovemyGlock21 according to his 'Pre-trip inspection' video, yes. He stated he was terminated after three weeks due to the videotaping while driving.
Not to mention, he pretty much acknowledged he doesn't wish to use the proper pre-trip inspection guidelines because it takes too long. That alone probably would have been justifiable concern.

The were really bad on his hometime getting him home late and sending him out on loads early, the worst part of it was the company was always trying to get him to drive over his legal drivetime. When got another job he gave his two weeks notice and while on a load they told him to clean out his truck and go home. Good luck to you with other jobs. Keep Driving.

I asked about a ride home. They said, " we'll figure it out"
I said "ok"
Drove truck to Kalamazoo, MI. They tried to conact me via Qual com.
Called them as soon as I got home. Told them I figured it out. They could pick their truck up at Wise International.

How about a steer tire that blows out...(never had this happen to me) but from what I understand...the vehicle will immediately pull to the direction of the tire that blew out and is very hard to keep control of the vehicle till you can safety stop. BOTH hands are needed in this event. So if this driver is holding a camera in one hand and the other hand is holding the steering wheel...do you think he will have control of the vehicle when a steer tire blows out?

3) twice in my career...had driver's fail to "yield" the right away and hit my (both times) hit my right steer tire...the tire that steers or "leads the way".
Results....a temporary lost of control of the steering ability and some major side damage as the lug nuts of the steer tire...etch some new metal patterns into the side of the other vehicle.

the vehicle would have been dug till either being dislodged or the trailer tandems (the trailer wheels) would have literally driving over the vehicle itself.
Been told by other driver's that have done that...that it feels like the trailer drove over a large bump in the roadway.

2) car ignored my turn signal and ran underneath trailer. I didn't know this happened. The driver was in a hurry to turn right so attempted to squeeze past me via the curb and sidewalk. As I was turning...felt nothing. Hear a car horn and after stopping and getting out of the driver seat...say a small pickup truck being dug around the corner via my trailer tandems. The picked was moderately damaged, driver was uninjuried. IF I would have not heard that horn......

Having been out on the road for over 19 years, I can safety say I have been involved in a few accidents...all non-preventable...the other party was at fault.
1) car hit my ICC bar (that low hanging bar on the rear of the trailer)... it felt as if someone "bumped" my vehicle. The car front end was destroyed...driver was uninjuried.

Now with these points..think about it before praising this driver for the videos he posted. Put yourself or the ones you love in those cars around him when he is doing this "clearly" unsafe activity? If you need to stop quickly, would you like him to be paying attention and also reacting quickly or would you like to be literally run over by a 40 ton vehicle?

Holding a video camera, focusing it on the object he wishes to record...meaning most of the time he is not looking at the road "per say" while still traveling at 55 mph. If something happens, let say a child runs out into the roadway to catch his/her ball...do you think he will have time to react let alone stop if he is so engrossed into his camera and "catching the view"?

I think he got fired for stuff like in the Caves Video. I know Marten, I worked for 5 years there. He was driving inside the caves while holding the camera. He couldn't back the truck in his dock because of it.Plus he was trying to blind side it.. Finally he put it down, turned the truck the right way and continued his video after he's already lined up. I don't see in many videos where he did much wrong besides looking like an idiot.

I quit Marten twice myself. I stayed out threw every holiday so the family guys could be home with there families and my only demand was home for Christmas. Then they only wanted to give me 8 hours home time. I don't think so! I worked there 4 1/2 years the first time, then 1 year after that. I'm not your mule to whip and I'm not your slave. You didn't mind me running a illegal log book to make deliveries other guys refused to do though. Randy can kiss my ass!

Well, I don't think you can be surprised that you got fired. You were publicizing corporate information, like when you showed QC messages on your videos and told of when they had you dump pallets. With the economy as slow as it is, they only need to keep the happy, compliant drivers. In a slow economy, you have to go along to get along.

@Primalpsycho4574 You my friend do not know alot about photography law. anyone can take a photo of a truck regardless of what logo is there, same with a Mcdoanlds restaurant or a coke can., anyway that thing with the police, the building was a public building and i actually got a letter of apology from the city and permission to film there when ever i want.
