  • what do you need to score on the asvab to get this rate?

  • @MrNugsBunny420 i think its like 60 because i scored a 69 and was qualified, but you need to pass in the categories that they need you in like all math, general science, and all english. what kind of corpsman are you trying to be?

  • @dhobstone if i get it i hope to go fmf or maybe recon marine corpsman.

  • @MrNugsBunny420 when are you leaving for bootcamp? and my recruiters and everyone at the MEPS said that they just ask people who want to be a corpsman halfway through A school.

  • @dhobstone yeah thats what i heard to and i ll know wednesday. A guy from my station got HM last week and ships sept 15th. when do you ship?

  • @MrNugsBunny420 oh thats good you go to meps yet? and damn thats hella far from now i just went to meps last week and got maybe one of the earliest days which is may 22, but gonna put in a request to leave earlier thursday

  • @dhobstone they lost my medical folder so i have to go wednesday to re-do medical and pick a job. if i get it im not waiting till september id go that day if i could.

  • @MrNugsBunny420 thats good hopefully theyll have the job for you. if they say they dont just dont settle with whatever they offer you

  • @dhobstone Man i got corpsman im stoked but my ship date is 20120821 so im not pumped about that but were gonna request for a sooner date. how did your request go?

  • @MrNugsBunny420 thats awesome man! i leave 20120522. and put my request to leave early. my request went fine just wrote a letter of why i want to leave early just a paragraph long. its gonna be hot for you lol.

  • @dhobstone haha I know man im going to submit one of those letters and hope i get may or june. its gonna suck if i have to wait till august

  • @MrNugsBunny420 you got the average date it. i have people who requested to leave early and i dont think they ever got it.

  • Just join the ARMY and become a combat medic. Its less hassle

  • how come corpsman carry weapons but medics dont? sorry if im misunderstanding, someone just mentioned it in a conversation earlier.

  • @pegasus619Q because corpsman.....more specifically infantry corpsman....are TOUGH!!!!

  • Also, does a naval corpsman operate in the field? (in a battlezone, such as on patrols. i'm not sure how you say it)

  • @freethinker424 Yes. As an FMF Corpsman, you may have the opportunity to be stationed with a unit that goes on foot patrols or convoys, just depends who you're with. I was deployed twice once to Iraq, once to Afghan, both times I was the only Navy Corpsman in a unit of Marines. It is very common

  • Am i qualified for this job if i have spina bifida, a shunt in my head, and I get UTIs frequently so I have to be on antibiotics often?

  • @freethinker424 i get UTIs because i have to catheterize now. My urologist doesn't know if i can stop using catheters in the future.

  • Semper Fi Devil Doc!!

  • Join the navy to become a corpsman

  • how do i become a corpsman

  • To all my Bros....

    Hayuut....Semper Fi!

  • 8. MOST IMPORTANT, teach them YOUR job! We are Devil Docs, but we get hit also. They CANNOT be left w/o knowing what to do until support arrives! Teach them first how to plug a wound and start an IV. I used to look like a junkie after they would practice on me! Lol.

    9. Love them and they will love, protect and care for you....you will NEVER experience a bond like that in your life. That's why when we hear "Corpsman up"....we run to the call no matter the hell that is raining down around us!

    Ha

  • ....check their feet, insure they aren't dehydrated (common), and check on the slightest cuts or scrapes. Minor wounds can become cellulitis, and if serious, can take a Marine out of the fight.

    6. Work as hard, NO, harder than your Marines and prove YOURSELF! They have nothing to prove to you.

    7. Learn their weapons, how to clean and fire anything and everything your guys carry! Offer to carry extra gear for them if needed.

    8. MOST IMPORTANT, teach them YOUR job! We are Devil Docs, but we ge

  • My experience was as follows:

    1. Take Corps School seriously

    2. Learn more than what you are required as you WILL implement this knowledge in the field

    3. You better be AJ SQUARED AWAY when it comes to military bearing and knowledge

    4. IF you get billeted to go to FMSS AND succeed at getting your 8404 NEC, then the worm will turn Bro'!

    5. Work as hard, NO, HARDER than your Marines and care for them as u would your own child. When humping....NEVER take breaks with them! Walk up and down the line

  • -Enlist and pick Hospital Corpsman. I think min ASVAB is 50.

-Do well in Corps School. You pick orders based on your class standing. (Pray that there are Marine Division orders available, sometimes it's not even an option)

-Excel while at Field Med Training Battalion both academically and physically (think hikes with a heavy pack and lots of pullups) Talk to the instructors about getting in with a grunt unit. Have awesome military bearing!

No guarantees, but that'll help! Doc

  • I agree with the fellow below me, I would really like to know.

  • could you please give me a lil list of the requirements to become a navy corpsman. you know asvab score, any course that i could take in order to increase my chances of becoming a combat corpsman?

  • @MrCanache I'm actually in A-School right now to be a Corpsman. You just need around a 50 for your ASVAB and to get a Combat Corpsman contract I just recommend working hard as hell when you get to A-school so you can pick orders first.
