Thanks for posting.

  • I LOVE IT

  • dandasoy also performed by the TAPAS of bacolod city where Gerard Guanzon is the choreographer. they have lots of heligaynon song that I know you will fall in love.

  • this song was composed by augurio abeto from binalbagan, negros occidental. the town of binalbagan is one of the two oldest towns in the philippines. PAYAO is one of the town's oldest barangays. the word 'PAYAG (small nipa hut)" was an error in grace nono's lyric sheet in her album although grace sings it PAYAO in her performances. PAYAO is referred to in the song as a place where the singer/songwriter means he wants to go home to.

  • I am a great grandchildren of Fortunata Magsipoc- the composer of Dandansoy -"and daan nga dalan gin-usoy" of Culasi, Antique. Its good to know the song relives in us all over the years! :)

    Ving Mosquera, Culasi, Antique

  • This song just makes me want to go to town on a sunny afternoon, lie down on a hammock tied on two coconut trees near a nipa hot, with the cool breeze swaying the rice stalks in the field, roosters crowing, and mayas flying around.

I miss the quiet and peaceful life in the province.

  • Dandansoy was composed by Fortunata Magsipoc of Culasi,Antique in Panay Island.Located at Region 6,Philippines."Payaw" means Panay.I know that this info is the most accurate because my cousins call her Lola Porting.Give me more time and I will research more about the song and the composer. She is my grandmother's sister.

  • Hi, may I know your real identity. I am sure we are cousins....-the LOMUGDANG-MOSQUERA of Culasi, Antique

  • does anyone know the translation of this song? and is it a filipino folk song?

  • It's an Illonggo Folk Song

    Dandansoy, I will leave you

I will go back to Payaw

But if you will be lonely

You can just look at the Payaw.

Dandansoy, if you will fetch (me)

Even if will not bring water with you

But if you will be thirsty

In the (side of the) road just make a well.

  • dandansoy, bayaan ta ikaw

    pauli ako sa payag

    ugaling kung ikaw hidlawon

    ang payag imo lang lantawon.

    dandansoy, kung imo apason

    bisan tubig di magbalon

    ugaling kung ikaw uhawon

    sa dalan magbubon-bubon.

  • pls any one knows the chords of this song. I am going to perform it in my nanay & tatay's 50th wedding aniversary this jul. pls help ! I need it very badly. My nanay used to sing this for us to be in bed... it brings a lot of memories plus a lot of tears ... of joy ! pls help

  • Grace: Nice! Very nice song. You have a nice voice, like Emmy Lou Harris, in the USA. She sings folk songs too. Once again, very nice. Maganda!

  • Dandansoy is a waray song from Eastern Samar part of eastern Visayas. I remind went I was child sing with may lola para pantolog sa akin. It is waray song. (Dandansoy bayaan ta ikaw, ma uli ha payad. Mauli ha payad kung ikaw hidlawong). Its mean that dandansoy hi left his house (nipahot) and don't worry I back for you with you are miss me..

  • Boy Pantat please don't give wrong information. This song is an Ilongo Song.

  • @boypantat: Hi Boy, Greetings! Dandansoy is a HILIGAYNON / ILONGGO SONG, although a lot of Visayan songs were also translated into or were being replaced with Samareno or Leyteno lyrics, but this one is really Payao and not payag. I am Cebuano and I recorded a lot of Cebuano songs like "Kamingaw Sa Payag" by Minggoy Lopez, and I sing this song too even today, and the Payao being mentioned here is not the nipa hut (payag) in Cebu but a place somewhere in Negros... GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES!

  • @sweetlovecrusader Salamat gid sa clarification. Matahum gid ini nga ambahanon. One of my favorite Hiligaynon songs,

  • Man she good and sounds a bet scary like the White lady sound affets anyways it's good I love this song too...

  • thiz iz muh Choir Song !! veryvery dramatic & nice !! yauuuuu!

  • this is my choir song hahahahahahahaha

  • mine too hahahahaha

  • Thank you for sharing this clip of Grace Nono's. It reminds me that wherever we may be and whatever passport we might be holding now, we will always be Filipinos. This song reminds me of so many things, things that are closest to my heart. Thank you.

  • mga bisaya gwapa boses a

Translation: thats bisya and she has a beatiful voice

  • salamat sa pagkanta,.,,poborito gyud ni sa akong anak lagi ko nagakanta kya lang kulang ug 2 ka lyrics hehhehhe

  • omg my school choir is so doing this song! love it!

  • Very nice rendition of a song I learned when I was little; can't help but reminisce the time when as kids, we play in the rice paddies/fields in --- guess where --- Payao! I can literally relate to the song.

  • The song has become traditional is a sense, but there are references stating this was one of the Hiligaynon compositions (1930s) of Augurio Abeto.

Abeto was a congressman, and was former mayor of Binalbagan, where Payao is located. We lived in the Abeto's estate 1975 through 1993; Augurio's sister, Rosario, was my parent's wedding sponsor and my mother's benefactor.

Salute to the song, to the artist (Grace), and to the composer!

  • not payao its payag, it mean NIPAHOT

  • i LOVE this song!

and i love the way she sings it too!

the chorus im in is singing this song and i CANNOT stop singing it...

it's fun couse im the only pinay in my class, so my teacher asks me for pronounciation

    =]

  • such a beautiful song! :)

  • she sang well from the heart..all the elements are there creating a lot of something special about the song. it reminds me of a mother who left her child or whatever from a secluded mountainous region somewhere in the border of iloilo, aklan, antique and capiz. the mother left becuz of something.

  • such an authentic voice of the Phippines. I can't believe she is not popular . You can't even find her music in the Philippines. what a shame! I love her style and voice!

  • such incredible style oozes out of this woman's every pore! she celebrates her uniqueness which is a combination of vision, creativity, authenticity, beauty, talent, intelligence and courage! no other filipino singer comes close.

  • awesome!

  • Who cares about the poncho or the posture? She delivers her great talent with poise and her voice is hautingly beautiful. It truly is sad that many Filipinos still do not recognize her simply because the industry is over-ridden with over-used love teams and teeny-boppers with hardly any real talent running the shows.

  • stop complaining and do something about instead of complaining about it ain't gonna do anything for you.

  • She's an artist on display thank you very much...she's got artistic and edgy ethnic clothing style!

  • What's with the poncho?

  • i love the way she holds the audience so that they all sing Dandansoy together. She's a powerful singer!

  • she has a great voice!

  • i adore her art!!!

  • im not a big fan of her posture.

  • oh wow!!! i just love Grace Nono's Music!! Thaks for POsting this!!
