my dad used to live in woodstock, he also was a roadie at the festival, many things have changed since then, but it sucks that i never got to experience the 60s. :(
You forgot to mention, Im 52, we been thru 3 assasinations, John,Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King,we just landed on the moon and beat the Russians in July 69.
My ex-wife's father (daughter's grandfather) was there, may he rest in peace. What stories he had!! I try to explain to her what all of that was about, but it's impossible. Our parents tried to explain to us, and us to our kids, but the meaning just seems to diminish with each generation. So sad! The great acts that were there, CSNY (1'st show ever), probably one of the best Hendrix show's ever ( I just watched it, actually,,AMAZING) Times we will never see again...
What Was The Point Of This 3 Days Of Peace Love And Musix???? I dont understand what the point was? Did something happen for that to happwn????? Can somebody please reply to me thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you are very young is not easy to understand....we were in the middle of the cold war, vietnam where young guys (19) were forced to go and where a lot of them stopped their lives at the sunrise, more freedom came up in the families, changes especially in usa society regarding people relations(black, white, etcc), young generation was full of ideas, ideals, on their faces was easy to see the hope for a new future and the happyness for life...woodstock was a symbol for all of this
Well there was Vietnam, racial segregation, the fact that the youth of America were always getting run donw by the Government/police etc. so the kids just wanted to show what could be done to acheive peace and love.
They showed that peace and love could actually happen instead of all the worldwide riots and demonstrations that occured the year before in 1968.
my father told me there will never be another time when people can come together and celebrate life and enjoy friendship and nature, like that again. He laughed at the other woodstock gatherings in the 1990's. he toldme nothing will ever compare to wookstock 1969. i was born after that, but from his stories, it was one hell of time to alive!

I wonder why the plaque doesn't list 'Quill,' the popular Boston group that was the first band to perform at Woodstock. Google quill band.

The 60's might have actually done some actual good if they continued the use of lsd instead of moving onto other drugs. Shame, shame.
