Forget about NW, and about Tarja "goddess worship" for a while, and listen to the singing on it's own merits. To my ears Tarja is not that good as a Soprano, there are so many other peers who out-class her in this respect (one gave a concert in my local church this christmas), though who have not found fame worthy of their talents. If she had not found fame and fans through NW, I guess she would not have found such fame through singing as a solo artist. Without NW, Tarja is fading away, sadly.

But I agree with you when you say Tarja is fading away away without Nightwish; I think everybody loves Tuomas' compositions, and his compositions + Tarja's voice were inexplicable wonderful together. Tarja's voice is absolutely stunning, however, this seems like a very generic use of her talents. She is more like an instrument than just a voice, and that's what makes her special. She needs to do something special.

I loved the sound of this video. I can feel they have a good energy and their musical styles match. It is very pleasing to hear, no doubts of it. I sincerely hope to find both the CD and the DVD available for sales in Brazil, for buying it in another country is waaay too expensive. But for this masterpiece, I'd make the sacrifice.

Concerning Tarja´s music, she generally talks about it as kind of Rock music with many different influences, Metal just being ONE of them. Think she also isn´t keen on setting herself limits musicalwise but to always remain open to new ideas and "musical experiments" what I personally appreciate a lot!

Most of these songs were covers of other Christmas songs, only a few were written by Tarja herself. I think that's normal when it comes to Christmas albums. Sorry if I misunderstood you, though.
Sorry If it was hard to get my point last time - I didn't mean exactly this song. I meant both her projects and the style of this one as a whole. I really do respect Tarja as a performer - she has great voice and she obviously knows how to use it. The problem behind her own projects is that she's a humble composer. Her star rose up because her voice was a perfect casing for what Tuomas did as a songwriter. When she split up with her friends she lost much more than she got, IMHO.

Guys, honestly! I´m not hypersensitive but could you please calm down? This is neither about who is the coolest "Metalhead" ( kindergarten! ) nor a competition of low level conversation!
Think it´s perfectly o.k. if you don´t like Tarja´s performance but come on, than just press the "don´t like" button, don´t look/listen to it anymore and move on, it´s that easy, no need to offend each other on a personal level. Gets a bit pesky and embarrassing here... ;-P

I loved the sound of this video. I can feel they have a good energy and their musical styles match. It is very pleasing to hear, no doubts of it. I sincerely hope to find both the CD and the DVD available for sales in Brazil, for buying it in another country is waaay too expensive. But for this masterpiece, I'd make the sacrifice.

Nightwish is a metal band, just not as heavy as others. They incorporate many different styles.

@crimrose Agree with you and for those who still feel the absolute need to pigeonhole music, NW´s style is also called "Symphonic Metal", which describes it pretty well, I think.
Concerning Tarja´s music, she generally talks about it as kind of Rock music with many different influences, Metal just being ONE of them. Think she also isn´t keen on setting herself limits musicalwise but to always remain open to new ideas and "musical experiments" what I personally appreciate a lot!

@Gr0t35qu3y0u I'm not completely sure what you wanted to say. But this song is not written by Tarja. It's Cori Connor's song and it was also on her first, full-length, Christmas album. Most of these songs were covers of other Christmas songs, only a few were written by Tarja herself. I think that's normal when it comes to Christmas albums. Sorry if I misunderstood you, though.

Sorry If it was hard to get my point last time - I didn't mean exactly this song. I meant both her projects and the style of this one as a whole. I really do respect Tarja as a performer - she has great voice and she obviously knows how to use it. The problem behind her own projects is that she's a humble composer. Her star rose up because her voice was a perfect casing for what Tuomas did as a songwriter. When she split up with her friends she lost much more than she got, IMHO.

@Enidan1111 For the record, when you talk about ENYA, you talk about a siren voice a natural siren voice, with precious technique and one of the moste beautiful voices from Europe and the whole world. A song with both My Lady Enya and Tarja would be interesting indeed, maybe Tarja can learn something from the experienced Enya. I think Tarja's problem is, she wants to try all but she can't focus in that 'all' so she ends up doing sth that has no feet and no head.

@Enidan1111 To me those things are what still don't make sense; she wants to get rid of the image she had in her previous band but she keeps doing things related to them. "The Beauty and The Beat" to me sounds like related to a Nw song even if is sth completely different, nw covers, etc. And trust me, nobody tells me, as my job is completely related to it and I have seen it in the flesh. She doesn't do ANYTHING if her husband says so, which means, 90% of her work is her husband's idea, not hers.
