dizz, some how i've been catching you for the past 10 years starting at the dendy martin place. you were on the drums and scratching then i think and have loved seeing you advance ahead of the times with your sound. i randomly caught you again at peats ridge and now i know your stage name (I won't reveal your real name), and made festival with that phatness. ps this demo is off the hook. aight going to say keep up the good work but i will say ill try to keep up with your work. peace!
Very dope, coming from a hard headed producer/Dj, the first lil beat at around 1 minute was fresh, also I know they make bigger pad replacements which may help with more sensitive to touch.
@dizz1 have you tweaked your mpd32? saw a video here on youtube a while back which was a tutorial on how to modify the pads in order to make them more sensitive (apparently the lack sensitivity). whats you thoughts on this - thinking of buying one. would appreciate an answer :) cheers. oh and ofcourse: your beats rock. here we go again - kills me everytime i drop it ;)
They work fine for me. I must admit they not as sensitive as my old mpc2000 but its still fine and you get used to it, just gotta tap a bit harder (which I do anyway esp up on stage so no biggie!)
@dizz1 cheers for the prompt reply. sounds good - look forward to getting my hands on it. prefer a more tactile approach over using mouse..
is 'We Go Ridin' ' available to the public ? checked discogs and as far as my research shows it was featured on the RB barcelona 2008 promo collection. where do i buy it? or at least hear a proper clip?
@chulukinat I have different tracks playing layers that I assign to the faders and bring up in different sections. The other banks on the MPD play chord/ pad type samples and I use a filter and delays for the builds etc... other parts of my live set I use the Ableton Sampler in a similar way that I use the tracks in this vid which gives me more control over more parameters but thats another story! Big up
Oh yeah!! Back for my 7 minute daily bounce!!! rirrrrrrrrring all over the place :)
Hope i get to see you do this live in Amsterdam some day!
Unlike Kaleen i love the way everything seems to stumble over eachother, takes of the slickness and makes it more edgy.. todays hiphop is far to smooth..
@dizz1 Bought my ticket today!!! Invited my friends.. Future of Bassmusic, Trouw Amsterdam... Can't wait! As i write this Rirrr comes on and i can't stop moving again! Grabs me everytime.. imma party hard with a big big smile!! C u july 2nd and for sure i'll come up and say gday;) Thanx for responding/sharing music/doing what u do;) GDAY:)
Hey Dizz1, nice setup, choon wise it starts of ok, sorta lacking something though, the timing could be a lot tighter, the stop startedness of your samples gets a bit hard to get used too...
the cheese that comes in at the 2.50 reminds me of trance, then blaw at about 3.40, doesn't sound good man, your snare sounds like a rock hitting a tin can, got some cool fx noises in there, its got potential but needs more work, keep it up
@kaleen100 I think you're missing the point. It's one thing if you don't like glitch hop or dubstep (or whatever you wanna call Dizz), but all the "flaws" you pointed out are hallmarks of the genre. Sloppy double snares, wierd compression, heavy synth - it's supposed to throw you off.
@powlo12345 Nah no bridge as of yet, I just use 1 lappy with 2 sound cards. One is the 57 powering serato and the other is a MOTU ultralite powering Ableton.
In this case I run the outputs of the MOTU into the spare channel on the 57 and then out to FOH but if Im doin more looping I run the 57 into the input on the MOTU and then MOTU out to FOH. Hope you get what I mean : )
@sickman2o0o unless someone invents a time traveling quantize feature id say no. there is a method of setting clips to play only once insterad of loops and u can set them to be quanitzed to 8th or 16ths when launching but if u dont use ableton theres no point me trying to expalin it any further
good to see that there is still very good producers that can actually dj and scratch very well too ... props ... even though this is new shit , you can tell that this dude has history and roots taking him back , just based on the cuts hes got . most beatmakers these days cant cut like that .. keep killin it dizz1 .. the ep sounds great .. big sounds .. i play it at shows in so cal

any idea:
how do you make it that every button (that starts a sample) is so good at the right time pressed?
can you quatisize, correct human timing errors somehow?
(i do not use ableton or scratch)

thanx though!
i will going to use it ;-)
even the new serato bridge looks quit interesting
but, me is a torq user BUT i can still sync with ableton.. so anyway... ableton is boing to be the piece of soft that i will look at...
may be in future... u can explain ;-)
sickman2o0o 2 years ago
@sickman2o0o Yeah as 1000Errors said you can quantize anything up to 32nd notes in Live which is great if you want everything to be super tight.
Me on the other hand likes it a bit on the loose side!
