I have to say that I like this version....simply because it's different. I love the original, I also don't think that Puccini is rolling in his grave. If people hate this because it's not "The Norm" they would also have to hate what Carreras, Domingo, and Pavarotti did to this song in their great "Three Tenors" performances because they made the song fun and approachable by the general public. I applaud them for making the song their own.
