I gotta say, I'm really inspired by how you teach these. Not only does the content of the lessons encourage me to expand my horizons (samba is definitely something new for me to try) but I love your teaching style and your presence behind the kit. Great lessons!
@BoredDrummer2 I'm so glad my teaching style gets across to you. That means the world that you get something out of these. I teach live on my website 7 times a week every week. You should check them out...we have a great time in the lessons hanging and dissecting stuff on the drums.
i checked your blog and i was wondering how you were going to price the lessons streams. also didnt know you were into drum and bass rhythms, saw it on your book cover.....thanks.peace1sun chi
@sunchimedia It will be a monthly subscription (or you can do yearly). I'm deciding on a final price this week, but I can tell you this, you're going to be getting 16 lessons a month for less than half of the price that one lesson would normally cost. Plus you'll have access to a whole months worth of past lessons if you miss any of them.
And yea, I love D&B...there's a whole section on how to break down the grooves in my book.
@sunchimedia So glad you are man...This was an angle I used for a hot minute...I have a better one now and the sound is much improved as well. Glad I can teach and entertain you at the same time, lol!
@DrummerEtc great lesson. i had an audition the other day and was asked to play to a song using a samba groove. never played samba b4. had an idea how it should sound tho. i did a basic groove that worked, but i know i'll have to be better schooled in it than what i am and this clip helps a whole lot.
@jalanhall Yea, it's def one of the essential styles a drummer needs to have in his bag at all times...and it's a blast to play to boot. So glad it helped man!
It's an interesting groove. I've just tried it and realized that I tend strongly to playing it hand-to-hand - instead of the two double strokes in the second part. Are these double strokes for a certain reason?
@xyeclipse There's nothing wrong w/ playing it that way either...the doubles just make it more efficient when getting around the kit...that being said, everyones different, so if it's easier to play it the other way, have at it!
@DrummerEtc Thank you for the reply, Stephen. I'm going to practice both ways because I like the double stroke roll on the left hand in the second part. -- It's great that you cover latin / swing jazz grooves with your lessons which are very helpful and inspiring. Thank you for that.
@Aroundthefur2 You're...wait for it...*goes to grab cup of coffee*...*saves a crying baby from rabid wolves*...*grabs another cup of coffee*...awesome for saying so!
Thanks so much man, really appreciate you checking it out...and really pumped you got something out of it!

@DrummerEtc this Samba Groove is really cool!
I've just learned it. I spent 30 minuts for learning it.
The most difficult thing is the coordination with the feet, and then it's really cool!
Thanks more.
See U!
Salvatoredrummer 1 year ago
@Salvatoredrummer That's great! You must be smokin' if you caught this is 30 minutes...took me longer than that to get it down! Way to go man!
and yea, with samba, the most difficult part is getting your feet together...but once you do, the sky's the limit!
KEEP PRACTICIN'!!!
