I didn't know this is a russian piece but it's really nice. My fave peice of classical music. Sorry if i got th eclassification of the music wrong though.
I agree with Richter, but I feel that Rachmaninoff's 1st piano sonata is up there, too. Beautiful! This will be an upcoming project for me. Isn't this piece wonderful? It's a revelation.
It is the wee hours of the morning and I desired to listen to the Mussorgsky "Pictures", piano version. I chose this artiste's performance. How wonderful! His interpretation is what I feel Mussorgsky would have played for his peers. Articulation, nuance, his singing out the subtle inner melody in the bass whilst the primary melody rings true in the treble is awesome. His understanding of the composition usually comes to a concert pianist later in life. I'd love to hear him in person in Texas!
This is truly an awe inspiring performance. I am no big fan of classical music but I must have listened to your rendition of this piece at least 10 times! Thank you so much for posting this. It is really amazing.
I don't the accent you place on the single notes on measures 1, 2, 5, 7, and the last two at measure 20 on the Promenade. It is just too strong. q.q, I think of this piece as gentle, it sets you up for the Gnomus, otherwise it is a great performance. :D
this is my first time ever listening to the piano version of this. i normally listen to the chicago symphony orchestra perform it. it's on my ipod. and having listened to it MANY MANY times, i would recommend play parts of gnomus a bit slower. some parts seem way too fast. but then again i couldn't play this. nice job, though.
How in the world do you go that fast during he chromatic scales in Gnomus? I'm trying to learn this piece, and going at that speed seems nearly impossible.
this promenade needs to be a bit faster. the tempo is Allegro guisto, not moderato. It should flow like a melody, but still have the quality of a march. Gnomus was great!
I'm looking for the picture of the Vecchio Castello but I can't find it anywhere on the net. Does anyone know where I can find it or why I can't find it. I need it for schoolwork.
Just listened to your Gaspard. Wonderful. you are bold and passionate and take chances. Wow...I don't hear many younger pianists like you. Congrats! Please let me know if you ever perform in Seattle! Thanks for your music!
Finally...an inspired and inspiring performance of Pictures that I interpretatively love. YES. I am performing this piece in 9 weeks, and needed to hear this. Thank you!!
I'm very impressed with your performance, and especially the Goldenberg & Schmule movement, which is very distinctive--like no other pianist I've heard--and very convincing! I have an archive of performances of this work (more than 1000 different performances, including more than 300 of the original piano version). If you ever record this work commercially, you will be sure to sell at least one copy to me! Again, congratulations on a performance that is worthy of any concert hall in the world.
Hi there, and thank you! I will try to get some of my favorite Chopin out soon. I am touring with 2 different Chopin concert programmes the next year or more...
This is really good =) I replied to a comment like a minute ago saying that I was learning it now (just the promenade part for now atleast) and I'm amazed at how you play it so easily. I find myself running out of fingers every once in a while haha I have the first three lines down pretty good after about a day or two which is good enough progress for me.
Keep trying...I when I learned promenade I was practically jumping. It'll be worth it; took me a few weeks to do it. (i'm currently taking a break from Mussorgsky right now...that gnomus can really crank up your anger D:)
Mussorgskij got inspired at an posthumus exibition with his friens illustrations. The music describes 10 pictures, and in the promenades Mussorgkij is "walking" (and thinking) beetween the pictures.
A couple of them excists. A really good music library could have them. Or one could try the internet off course... But I suppose the music is much more interesting than the pictures. Mussorgskij was emotionally influenced by his friends death I think. There is more than just those drawings in this fantastic music.
i really love this. my violin teach told me to look this up yesterday at my lesson. this is pretty amazing stuff. wait, so the promenade is the first part right?
I don't know if you are replying, but yes, there are many black classical composers. They exceed at jazz, well, I guess that's just because that's what the media said. But hey, anyone, including african americans can master many aspects of piano playing. Well I'm chinese, but well, yes...
Although I fail to play gnomus, I am attempting to master the second promenade and somewhat sightread Castello. Having some trouble with the key, though. This always helps!
I still can't get over my excitement of being able to play the first promenade from start to finish...I feel so professional now...I know I'm not, but I feel so ACCOMPLISHED!
I was so happy to find this on YouTube. Pictures at an Exhibition is one of my favorite pieces for piano. I love Mussorgsky anyway! The Gnome and The Old Castle are two of my favorite from this piece. I can't wait to view the remaining parts of this piece and your other videos. I have subscribed, of course!
I taught myself the piano through playing for fun since I was about 10 and I found recently I can play quite advanced stuff so this is the first proper piece I'm learning and I absolutely love it
Again, this is just amazing...I wonder why people don't watch this...nice tone, and this is pretty much the best piano version of Pictures at an Exhibition you can find I guess. But I do not know why...but that doesn't matter...it doesn't matter if one person watches it or many. I still say it's extremely well done! And the recording, as still, must be mounted on a tripod or something...very nice.
I must say that you are incredibly clever when it comes to giving good comments! Thank you. I guess that most people doesn´t know about me, but Youtube is a fantastic way to get music out to more people around the world! Happy to hear from you again, goodcommentguy...
