Sidious suddenly had the skill to make a fool out of Yoda. In the book, Yoda even says he lost the fight before it began. Before he was born (referring to Darth Bane and the Rule of Two producing the ultimate Sith possible through brutal progressive master and apprentice duos evolving, and how the Jedi were not able to stop them)

What impresses me most about Sidious is how he, forced to play the week old politician for decades, is able to thrash 4 Jedi Masters including Windu...who are not only powerful but experience war veterans. Windu was made stonger by the Clone Wars and still lost. Sidious had barely anything like as much fighting time, you know?
